Paderborn finally debuts in Bundes
Well, the Season start awaits, it's going to be two matches in August for Paderborn, and the very first game will be against Bayern Munich, basically a "welcome to the top" execution for the freshly promoted side. The team looks intimidated, I've told them that it was alright to lose, they were the ones that had everything to lose not us, we had already made it to the Bundesliga, they had to retain their title; and maybe, just maybe they'd might underestimate us and slip...
Well they didn't slip. But we did take a bit bite out of their self-esteem by beating Neuer more than once, we actually did gain the lead with a beautiful free kick from my Turkish Pirlo, Emre Colak, but then they decided to start diving in the box, and the corrupted referee granted them not one, but two free Penalties - which Xabi Alonso would never miss. Let's take a look at the Free Kick though, it's quite sublime:
Four minutes later they start diving and cheating, and that's the end of that, 3-1 at half time. But I really liked our reaction, despite playing against the strongest side in Germany, we kept going at it - not defending for our lives but actually ATTACKING and going forward (Mind you, the tactic was meant to park the whole bus station), this is what happened in the 53rd minute of the second half:
A beautiful coral play, which showed how well my team can actually pass a ball, even through one of if not the strongest midfield and defense in the whole world currently. It zig zags from the two midfielders into the winger that just cut into the box, which would be Koc - who beats Neueur into the far post (I'd say with a finesse shot from what it looked like), very prestigious: So the final verdict in my opinion is a very satisfactory debut in Bundesliga, we definetly had something to say on the pitch, against whoever we were going to face.
Second game of the Season, first victory! I didn't have to wait too long to celebrate a victory, because I knew I had a real special group of players in my hands. The game was stale until the 80th minute, then all hell broke lose and we just started banging them in, just the way I like it, we dominated them under every aspect and it was a well deserved victory.
Let's take a look at the current League Table then.
Doing quite well, right from the start although I've told the team they need to keep their head down and keep working hard, as we had not made it yet;
we had only just begun.
August Player of the Month:
Emre has been quality for me, he's become my key player in midfield - the way he sprays passes with accuracy and timing is really something I didn't expect; I actually expected him to be the least succesfull of my signings! and hes proven to be quite the contrary.
To be fair the runner up to this award was goin to be Moritz Stoppelkamp because hes been quite great on the flanks aswell, but only one of them could have it and theres always next time to impress me even further.
