Southampton officials have today indicated that a U-turn has been made in the replacement for recently departing Mauricio Pochettino who left for Tottenham. Instead of appointing Ronald Koeman, they have appointed an unexperienced but highly qualified coach in Lloyd Debenham.

Debenham is one of the few English coaches who have their Continental Pro Licence and Southampton's keenness with English players has now been transferred to their manager as well. The newly appointed coach will forfill the role of Head Coach, meaning he will be a regular on the training pitch.

When speaking to Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill, he told us: "To be appointed Head Coach at a club like Southampton is what some coaches dream of and I am grateful to be in such a position"

"I'm an ambitious coach" Debenham continued, "and I want to achieve big things here at Southampton. Last season we proved what we're capable of and even though key players such as Luke [Shaw], Rickie [Lambert] and Adam [Lallana] have departed. If we can group and gain chemistry within the team early, than we could achieve unbelievable things"

Debenham's first job is to integrate his style of play and bring in any players he feels will help benefit the squad. His first league game in charge is away at Liverpool.
A great club to be in charge of. I've watched a couple of streams of guys that have taken on Southampton and really enjoyed. You definitely have a follower in me.
Good luck mate, who are you planning on bringing in and sending out?

Dutch star Vlaar signs three year deal with Saints

Southampton have confirmed that they have made a double signing and paperwork was complete early this morning. Both of the new signings play in defence, one an experienced centre back and the other a youth defender who can play both right back and centre back.

The first signing is Aston Villa's Dutch centre back Ron Vlaar. The Dutchman was in form in this years World Cup and his form caught a number of clubs eyes. Despite a number of people containing interest, Southampton were the only team who made a satisfactory bid of 3.7m which was accepted.

Vlaar has signed on a three year contract and is keen to join his new teammates. Fans are overall pleased by the acquisition of such an experienced player who wilol hopefully be leading the team from the back; especially when Jose Fonte and Maya Yoshida have been linked with moves away from the club.

Christensen signs long term deal at St Mary's

The second is Chelsea's young all rounded defender Andreas Christensen for a fee of 725k on a long term contract. The player was reccommend by Directer of Football Les Reed who is keen to develop young players at the club.

Whether Christensen will make a sudden start into the first team squad is questionable, especially when he struggles to integrate into the Chelsea first team, and with Nathaniel Clyne ahead of him, Debenham has stated that "Despite him being a player with a good ability and potential, a loan deal could boost his development"

Vlaar will be handed the number six shirt ahead of the new season with youngster Andreas Christensen taking the number twenty-nine shirt. Both are currently available to play in Southampton's tour of Germany.
Vlaar is a great signing - shows real class in the Prem. Good luck - will be following!
@TonkaWolves115: Thanks, man. That's why I signed him.
@Jamesg237: Thanks mate. I'm enjoying the save too.
@MooSnuckle: Cheers. You'll find out soon.
Not sure about Christensen but Vlaar is a brilliant signing
@mo_123 Christensen was signed by my HoYD so I agreed as he has some potential and I needed a backup for Clyne. Thanks, I hope Vlaar will be brilliant too! XD
Vlaar is such a good signing! Good luck :)
@jose-fonte:Thanks. I sure hope Vlaar lives up to expectations.

Southampton confirm all transfer activity

Jose Fonte departed for newly promoted QPR

Southampton has released the information on all of their transfer activity throughout the 2014/15 Summer Transfer Window. This month saw four new players join the club, with two players departing on permanent deals and five players leaving the club on loan contracts.

The two departing players are experienced goalkeeper Artur Boruc and fan favourite club captain Jose Fonte. Boruc will be joining French side Olympique Lyon for a fee of 675k with Debenham seeing him unrequired following the acquisition of Celtic's Fraser Forster.

The other Jose Fonte will be leaving for a fee of just under 2m and will be joining up with recently promoted Queens Park Rangers. Jose Fonte departing was incredibly unexpected with him holding the captains armband but Debenham has overlooked him as surplus to requirements.

In regards to new signings, the first was Ron Vlaar who joined from Aston Villa for 3.7m and also Andreas Christensen from Chelsea for 750k who have already been mention in the previous post by Southampton.

Adding onto those signings is a new goalkeeper to replace Artur Boruc; that being Darren Randolph. Randolph is experienced in both English and Scottish leagues including spell with Charlton, Birmingham and Motherwell. He will join for a fee of approximately 1.1m.

The final of the signings was Lokomotiv Moscow's twenty-nine year old striker Dame N'Doye who has joined for just over 3.5m. N'Doye has been known for scoring goals at all the clubs he's been at, he scored thirteen last season and back in the 2010/11 season he scored twenty-five for FC Kobenhavn.
