March; Lacazette finally scores!

In March we managed to progress through to the Quarter Finals of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE after a tense penalty shoot out victory over Atletico, We came through in the German Cup third round against Hamburger SV and Alexandre Lacazette finally broke his duck in that match. The worst news this moth was that Roman Widenfeller has been ruled out injured for the remainder of the season and possibly some of next season following knee tendonitis.

German Cup 3rd Round

Hamburger SV 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

The month started with a not so convincing 2-1 win over Hamburg, we took the lead five minutes before the break just as the hosts were starting to dominate- Lewis Holtby had already blazed a shot over the bar in the twenty seventh minute. Lacazette latched onto a long clearance that Johan Djourou had failed to head away and absolutely smashed the ball into the top left corner of Drobny's near post. We were caught napping in the second half though as Pierre Lassoga was allowed to drift through our defensive third far to easily and glance in a header at the near post. The winner came eight minutes later, Lucas Romero's torrid free kick was comically kicked to Tammo Harder who kept his cool to score for the first time since September.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Round of 16 2nd Leg

Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Atletico de Madrid

A game that had it all, an incredible goal, a red card (Mario Suarez was sent off in the seventieth minute for two bookable offences) and a nail-biting finish capped with a German specialty. It was the Spaniards who took the lead however, with a fine passing move culminating in a powerful finish from right back Juanfran. They would continue to dominate until the second half when we started to take control but with attack after attack failing we were beginning to feel a sense of desperation, that was when he stepped up. Lucas Romero. The £15,000,000 man saw the ball rolling toward him and instead of controlling it and starting an attack he caught Jan Oblak off his line and cracked a terrific shot over the helpless goalkeeper' right arm, thus sending the yellow wall into pandemonium. There were chances aplenty in our favour for the rest of the game, the pick of which fell to Adrian Ramos who headed onto the crossbar but replays would later prove that Jan Oblak just brushed the ball onto the bar. And after the Suarez sending off we dominated even more but little else happened and as extra time proved inconclusive we went to the not so dreaded penalties.

Penalty 1- Surprisingly Miranda was the first player to take the kick from twelve yards and he wasted not time in hitting his shot, perhaps his effort was rushed but it was a penalty that lacked all kinds of accuracy and was fired well wide. (Missed pen, Atletico)

Penalty 2- Our first spot kick came from Adrian Ramos and he the perfect penalty, hard and accurate straight into the top right corner giving Oblak little chance of saving. (BvB 1-0 Atletico on pens)

Penalty 3- Captain Gabi got his team off the mark with an equally good a pen as Ramos Horn went the right way but to low and was not able to save. (BvB 1-1 Atletico on pens)

Penalty 4- To restore the lead was Armenian Henrik Mkhitaryan who, after missing in the German Super Cup, was desperate to score. For a moment though it looked like Oblak would reach the shot but it just rolled away from him to creep in the corner. (BvB 2-1 Ateltico on pens)

Penalty 5- Frenchman Antoine Griezman was extremely close to missing his pen but it pinged in off the underside of the bar, Horn again guessed correct but there really was nothing he could do and it was a mixture of a brilliant shot but also a heft piece of fortune. (BvB 2-2 Atletico on pens)

Penalty 6- Mats Hummels was next and there were a lot of nerves as he took his run-up...but there needn't be as he coolly slotted the ball into the bottom left corner and sent Oblak the wrong way. (BvB 3-2 Ateltico on pens)

Penalty 6- Veteran midfielder Tiago then hit a weak penalty straight at Timo Horn who easily saved, meaning score our next pen and we were through. (Missed pen, Atletico)

Penalty 7- Young Milos Jojic had the chance to put us in the Quarter finals and with a stutter in the run up did so with ease, looking as though it merely a kick about in the park. BORUSSIA DORTMUND WIN 4-2 ON PENS!

Bundesliga Matchdays 24-26

SC Paderborn 0-1 Borussia Dortmund

Our first league action came in what looked a routine trip to Paderborn, but the game would prove a much tougher test than was planned as, due to heavy squad rotation, Paderborn needed the points and fought hard. The ball seemed destined to stay out of the net with our first chance coming after just three minutes and thirty seconds when Alex Lacazette had a shot fumbled onto the post by Lukas Kruse. The first half would prove to be much quieter than expected for the Paderborn keeper and with good reason, Paderborn kept the heavy majority of their players in their defensive third and managed to overcrowd the creative players in the team, forcing us to take snapshots at goal or play the ball backward. After half time we decided to take a more direct approach this would change the complexion of the game but also our season, showing we can win ugly and grind out results. Tammo Harder teased Christian Strohdiek into closing him down allowing Dede to have all kinds of space to cross and he duly delivered a perfect cross as Paderborn fell apart and went into meltdown leaving Pierre Emerick Aubamyeng to climb high (and unmarked) at the back-post and crash a header into the roof of the net. All our good work was nearly undone ten minutes from time as Eric Kachunga managed to turn Ilkay Gundogan and cross the ball to the feet of Marvin Ducksch (on loan from Dortmund) who hit the ball fist time on the volley forcing an incredible reflex save from Horn, as he clawed the ball away with his right hand. With little to lose they went all out for the win and were very effective in pushing us back but a late breakaway yielded Tammo Harder with a great chance to seal the win. But he snatched at the attempt hitting a half-volley straight a Kruse. That meant little to us though and we march on with a tense victory over Paderborn.

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 FC Schalke04

A four minute blitz killed off a much improved Royal Blues side now in the fight for third and fourth place and looking to dent our title charge. The opener came after half an hour when on a rain soaked surface Henrik Mkhitaryan was allowed acres of space to play Lacazette the ball, with a surprising feat of strength he held off the challenge of Joel Matip easily, swiveled and curled a brilliant shot across the floor, it skidded along the grass as more than seventy thousand home fans stared at the ball skid up off the turf before flying into the corner at break neck speed. The noise was deafening and you could scarcely hear yourself think as Lacazette burst away to the Dortmund faithful and was mobbed as more than a dozen of the lucky supporters that were able to celebrate with one of their heroes. We had barely stopped celebrating the first goal when Lucas Romero sent us into pandemonium again, Sokratis would have been a hero had his shot Dennis Aogo and rebounded to Romero who didn't get the cleanest of contacts but it managed to swerve into the corner and the young Argentine scored another important goal in his first season and was mobbed by his teammates and a few fans who gained access to the pitch. The game wasn't over though and Julian Draxler forced a fine save from Timo Horn five minutes after our second, Leon Goretzka had a good effort from range saved by Horn also as he managed to get down low and hold Goretzka's shot moments before half time and defender Kaan Ayhan blazed a free kick over the bar from around twenty five yards on sixty six minutes. But for all their possession Schalke failed to create clear cut chances and that was cost them.

FC Koln 2-3 Borussia Dortmund

One of the most dramatic games I'm ever likely to play in FM and it was a game that saw Henrik Bonmann make his Bundesliga debut as Timo Horn and Roman Weidenfeller were injured for this one. Koln took the lead after Marcel Risse headed onto the inside of the post from a corner and Yuya Osako pounced. However ecstasy quickly turned to anguish as Kevin Wimmer was sent off for two yellow cards after twenty minutes and seven minutes later after a prolonged period of pressure Ashley Young was hacked down by Tomas Kalas and a penalty was awarded. Of course Reus took it and...slotted it to the left to pull us back level. It took until the sixtieth minute for the game to really spark into life though where we scored again, Young played Ramos in and the Colombian fired home to give us the lead. With just eight minutes to go it looked like Henrik Bonmann's error would cost us two points as he showed weak handling to palm a shot from Risse straight toward the penalty spot and in came Simon Zoller to smash the ball into the top right corner. With one more corner it looked certain to be 2-2 but Reus whipped in a deep cross which was cleared to Erik Durm who played it back to Reus and he put in another deep cross...waiting there was our Greek centre back Sokratis who stuck out his left leg and easily scored the winner to send Koln fans into heartache and Dortmund fans into a frenzy.

Player of the month

He ran the midfield, scored two vital and brilliant goals and has already showed he's more than capable of living up to £15,000,000 fee. As you've likely guessed player of the month for March goes to our Argentine star Lucas Romero.

April; Crunch time!

An action and drama filled month with seven games to play, I have deliberately left out the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Quarter Final scores though as I believe that it is better to not show the score as the games are that brilliant. We managed our first win against Bayern in the Cup and the emergence of Pierre Emerick Aubamyeng as a big game player. It was all happening in April, so sit back relax, and enjoy the ride.

German Cup Quarter Final/Semi final

FC Bayern Munchen 0-2 Borussia Dortmund

The first of three meetings against was a game that we used to shape our game plans for the next two in the UCL. Yes we drew Bayern in Europe too. And it was quite clear from the off that we came to frustrate Bayern as we had done in the 0-0 draw earlier in the season. This game was also a much needed confidence booster for Timo Horn who made an early diving save from a Holger Badstuber header, palming the ball out for a corner with his right hand. He again had to stay alert to a Robert Lewandowski shot which although didn't seem to trouble the goal it was important that Horn showed the tenacity to get across and see it wide. That was really all Bayern could muster in this encounter as we hit them hard with fast counter attacks and sharp passing moves. Alex Lacazette was given ample opportunity to make Bayern pay for their lack of ideas when Ilkay Gundogan play a exquisite through pass to the Frenchman who made no mistake and managed to squeeze the ball in through Manuel Neuer's near post. And he should have doubled the advantage on fourty four minutes, Gundogan again involved his hopeful pass slipped through after some terrible miscommunication from Medhi Benatia and Holger Badstuber but Lacazette dragged the shot wide. Yet the scoring wasn't over, Marco Reus got a free kick...you know what that means...it means GOAL TIME! Another Reus delight this time a shot full of power that Manuel Neuer only got a fraction of his hand on, but by the time he had it was already in the net. The Allianz Arena was starting to grow restless and whistles and boos could be heard around the ground as a lacklustre Bayern side that were well off the pace struggled to find a way to penetrate our backline. And so that was it, into the Semi Final hat we went and drew Koln. Not the toughest but still a challenge.

Borussia Dortmund 2-1 FC Koln

The rise of PEA. Aubamyeng showed, not for the first time this month, that he is a man for the big occasion. He settled the nerves after just five minutes with a neat turn and finish- a blasted shot into the roof of the net. If only the rest of the team had played that well. Though having just three days rest after the game against Frankfurt the side was rotated to (mostly) our cup team. There was a distinct lack of pressure and intensity that we have become resound for this season. The play was slow and Koln were poor not to capitalise on this sooner as just before half time Timo Horn was beaten, through no fault of his own though that was our defense who failed to clear, not once, not twice, but three times Kevin Vogt the scorer. Auba wasn't going to let them win though and he took it upon himself to haul us back in front with a glanced header from an Ashley Young cross. With eight minutes to go he almost made it three but his shot didn't have enough power behind it and was saved by Phillip Tschauner. And it was BvB celebrating after the final whistle and we have PEA to thank for dragging us kicking and screaming to the Pokal Final against minnows Fortuna Dusseldorf, of whom beat VFL Wolfsburg 4-1.

Bundesliga Matchdays 28-30

Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Borussia MonchenGladbach

The month started they way it would finish with an injury time winner in stoppage time against Borussia MonchenGladbach (a side I greatly admire and respect) and we really struggled to get any clear cut opportunities. The first real chance of the game came through Ashley Young as the English winger blazed a sighter over the bar from around twenty five yards out. The only time we really got through on goal (except the goal) was in the twenty eight minute when after some annoyingly cute passing (it seemed like we didn't want to shoot) before finally Ilkay Gundogan pulled the trigger...and sliced the ball past the far right post and out for a goal kick. And just past the half hour mark Adrian Ramos hit a tame volley wide of the goal. Ashley Young also had another attempt in the fourty fourth minute, he raced through most of the Gladbach defence before hitting a weak shot straight at Yann Sommer. After the break though Gladbach were much improved and only a fine Timo Horn save prevented Raffael from making it 1-0 to the visitors with just twenty five minutes to play. Dortmund reject Ji Dong Won showed why we let him go when, after some brilliant footwork to create space for a shot, he scuffed a left footed effort into Timo Horn's hands. With Gladbach looking much more likely to score it seemed we would drop at least two points...but then...he happened...or more...TAMMO HARDER HAPPENED!! Durm's throw was chested down by Mkhitaryan, he then layed it off for Harder. He tempted Fabian Johnson into the tackle and just hit the shot before he could come across to get it away Harader hit it low across the floor and under the body of Sommer to sent the Signal Iduna Park into rapture.

Mainz05 2-2 Borussia Dortmund

A game where we never quite managed to take the game away from Mainz and unltimately we payed the price for that with a draw. Mkhitaryan gave us the lead on twenty four minutes after a well worked team goal saw our Armenian midfield maestro crash the ball into the top right corner of the goal. Mainz weren't ready to beaten down yet though, Shinji Okazaki showed a good turn of speed to beat Sokratis and beat Horn at his near post, yet another mistake from Horn this time in failing to cover his angles. Marco Reus managed to put us ahead at the break with yep you guessed it- another free kick! Reus fooled Lorius Karius by lashing the ball to the top right instead of curling it into the top left. With the match heading for a routine 2-1 victory for us Mainz got a counter attack twenty four minutes from time, the attack lost momentum but we defended with gullibility and let Dortmund loanee Jonas Hoffman put in an easy cross and an unmarked Shinji Okazaki volleyed into the roof of the net, wrong-footing Horn completely. After the second Mainz goal we started to play safer and defend. In effect hold out for the draw and a draw was what we got, but fair play to Mainz they showed character and fight and earned their point.

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Eintracht Frankfurt

We bowed out of the Bundesliga in April with a 4-1 battering of Frankfurt. We started of with promise, Kevin Trapp saved a well struck effort from Adrian Ramos after eight minutes. On twenty five minutes Ramos was pivotal in the assist for Mkhitarayan's goal, he knocked it down for Mkhitaryan to hook into the Frankfurt goal. Marco Reus made it 2-0 after a one-two with Ramos he feined a shot before placing the ball into the top corner. Goal three came from a deserving source- Adrian Ramos, the Colombian leaped up to head the ball into the top right corner. Jan Rosenthal did pull a goal back for the visitors with a cool one-on-one finish, but we well and truly killed the game off with a seventy fifth minute goal from Ezequiel Rescaldani, who scored an easy tap in after another Reus free kick hit the upright. A nice way to end a topsy-turvy run of form in the league this April.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Quarter finals

'Hello and welcome back to tonight's UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Quarter final 2nd leg here in Dortmund. As we bring you coverage of Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich. Dortmund of course 2-0 down after a comfortable victory for their Bundesliga rivals Bayern. The Champions League being Bayern's last chance at a major trophy this season, kick off coming in just a moment, but first let's take a look back at what happened in the 1st leg.'

FC Bayern Munchen 2-0 Borussia Dortmund

Dortmund started off well and were shutting out Bayern, that was until Sven Bender was sent off and obviously banned for the return leg. And from that free kick Bayern opened the scoring, club captain Philip Lahm racing in to score from the rebound after a magnificent stop from Timo Horn. As Dortmund started to tire Bayern took real control and managed to the first leg game beyond doubt, with Dante latching onto a poorly defended David Alaba free kick which squirmed through as Dante fired past the unsighted Horn.

'Starting off with the home side, sporting a new look 4-2-3-1 formation with the regular backline of Durm, Hummels, Sokratis and Clyne with Horn in goal of course. In midfield a bit of a controversial call as Mats Iconic opts with Ginter and Gundogan in the centre of midfield with Henrik Mkhitaryan in the hole. On the wings Ashley Young and Marco Reus, and up top leading the line is Adrian Ramos.'

'On the bench BvB are certainly not lacking in options either, Tammmo Harder, Lucas Romero, Pierre Emerick Aubaymeng, Ezequiel Rescaldani and Alexandre Lacazette all have the ability to change the game. And if need be Jon Gorenc Stankovic and Lukasz Pisczek can help firm up the defence.'

'Bayern start with their customary 4-1-4-1 the only real surprise is that Xherdan Shaqiri starts from the bench and Juan Bernat starting in the left midfield role. Frank Ribery is out injured in case you were wondering. Other than that though it's a fairly straightforward Bayern side. Neuer, Alaba, Dante, Boateng, Lahm, Javi Martinez, Alonso, Schweinsteiger, Bernat, Robben and Lewandowski.'

'If by some miracle Dortmund do turn things around then Bayern have players to come on and win them the game for them in, Xherdan Shaqiri, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze as well as Thiago Alcantara. And Holger Badstuber and Medhi Benatia can help keep a more defensive system if needed later.'

25.Dortmund beginning to find their feet now as Reus cuts inside and HITS THE SHOT! Over the bar! Wasn't the worst shot in the world was it Clive, good play from Reus.

44.Bernat with the cross, headed away, but only as far as SCHWEINSTEIGEEERRRRRRRRR! Whistles past the post!

45.Half time here at the Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund attempting to catch Bayern out with counter attacks but it's not worked for them. Half time in Dortmund Bayern 0-0 Dortmund.

45.Second half now underway, Borussia Dortmund have fourty five minutes to save their Champions League season, can they do it? It's looking very unlikely.

48.Bayern with another chance, it's Lewandowski. It's a damp squib of a shot. Well in this day and age Clive you've gotta be better at beating the keeper and quite simply this lad hasn't done enough.

90.Referee blows his whistle, it's end of the allotted ninety minutes, Extra Time is the next stop for what has been an incredible game.

105.Well that has been an anticlimactic first period of Extra Time, neither side risking committing too many men going forward.

A win against Wolfsburg will see the title return to its rightful resting place in Dortmund, after that, the German Cup final over Fortuna Dusseldorf and also the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Semi Final 1st and 2nd legs against Greek giants Olympiakos. So for the penultimate time this season here is the Bundesliga table.

Player of the month

There is no doubt in my eyes who player of the month should go to for April. Adrian Ramos, the Colombian kept scoring in April and his all round play was magnificent. He was a constant menace every time he stepped onto the field. Congrats Adrian Ramos.


Tammo Harder did a Cartweel of joy after the Qaurter final victory over Bayern and the late winner against Gladbach.

Reus has also been key to our success this month with four goals, our talisman has been at his best again.

The Yellow Wall was at a deafening level of noise after the win against Bayern.

May; Trophy Time!

May saw us crowned Bundesliga champions after a routine 2-1 victory away at Wolfsburg (who after the match sacked Dieter Hecking) as we ended the season ahead of Bayern by ten points. I shall not delve into as much detail as normal in the Bundesliga in this month's update if that's okay as there is little to tell in the league after we won it. We did make it through to the final of the German Cup and the final of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE so we could make a treble happen in the first season, but that aside I shall tell the tale of how we got in May.

Bundesliga Matchdays 31-34

VFL Wolsburg 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

The game that saw us seal the title was an easy win that was won fittingly by a goal from Tammo Harder. Pierre Emerick Aubamyeng shot us into a 1-0 lead after just fifty five seconds when his long ranger slipped through the fingers of Max Grun and into the net. Tammo Harder doubled the advantage after some tiki-taka passing he curled the ball home from the penalty spot. Brazilian Centre Back Naldo did pull one back for the hosts, with bullet header on fourty nine minutes, but Wolfsburg were unable to rescue the result nor Hecking's job as he was sacked after the game.

Borussia Dortmund 1-1 Hamburger SV

After the title win we decided to rotate heavily and rest our key players for the more important games ahead. It worked better than I expected as we managed to win two of the last three games in the league, of course dropping points at home to Hamburg but you can't win them all, it was the visitors who took the lead through Heiko Westermann, scoring from a Timo Horn save after he had parried Nicolai Muller's Free Kick. We equalised from the spot after Ilkay Gundogan was felled from a two handed shove from Czech Petr Jiracek, the man to take the pen? Retiring Ivan Klasnic to score his first and only league of the season and it was a well struck penalty to the left corner and give both sides a share of the spoils.

SC Freiburg 2-4 Borussia Dortmund

Max Phillip and Admir Mehmedi scored either side of four Dortmund goals in a six goal thriller which could have gone either way. Horn was at his worst for both goals, collapsing under pressure from the Freiburg frontman who scored his thirteenth league goal of the season. Four minutes later and it was level again though as Tammo Harder scored the first of two goals in this game, with a well struck shot on his left foot that beat Roman Burki at his near post. The next goal was scored by his partner in crime Pierre Emerick Aubamyeng who slid the ball past Burki after a fast counter attack. The score was made 3-1 three minutes into the second half when Harder's corner found Henrik Mkhitaryan who nodded home at the near post. Harder deservedly got his second twenty five minutes from time with a quick turn and finish from a tight angle. Mehmedi did of course pull another back for Freiburg but it was not enough as we gained our twenty sixth win of the season.

Borussia Dortmund 2-0 Herta Berlin

A simple victory over Herta saw Marco Reus score his twentieth Bundesliga goal of the season yet he could not win the golden boot, that prize deservedly went to Bosnian goal poacher Vedad Ibisevic (who finished with twenty one ahead of Kruse and Reus on twenty). We took the lead after nineteen minutes when Ilkay Gundogan's shot come pass was taken down brilliantly by Lacazette and tucked in with precision as well as accuracy. Nine minutes before the break and it was two, Tammo Harder with an incredible cross field ball to Reus who fired the ball across goal and in. The rest of the match was spent with us holding onto the ball and Herta trying to shut up shop and stop us from scoring more. And so the Bundesliga season has drawn to a close in a style (for us at least) as we claimed our title deservedly, off to the UCL games now but first a final look at the table.

After thirty four gruelling games we have shown the most consistency to win the title and prove ourselfs to be the thoroughbreds in this 2014/15 campaign. It was not so good for Augsburg, Bremen and Paderborn as they all went down, Augsburg in the play offs a 4-0 second leg defeat to Dusseldorf means they will spend at least 2015/16 in the Bundesliga 2. along with Bremen and Paderborn.

Along with Dusseldorf going up are league champions Kaiserslautern are Eintracht Braunschweig who will go back up after one season back in the second tier and will be wanting to do better than their last season where they finished bottom with just twenty five points.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Semi-Finals

1st Leg: Olympiacos 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Huge underdogs Olympiacos were never fancied to win against, and when Henrik Mkhitaryan scored a wonder Free Kick after just four minutes it looked as though we would win comfortably. But The Greeks didn't back down and their fans created a deafening atmosphere that almost drowned out the Dortmund away support. They pressed us back and got their just rewards when Nicolas Blandi latched onto Jimmy Durmaz' cross to level up the scoring. And they didn't stop there, going close with Pajitim Kasami and Alejandro Dominguez before taking the lead through Blandi after he pounced on yet another Timo Horn error to tap home. And they could have made it three or four but they couldn't take the chances. Horn's chocolate wrists cost us in the first leg but that Mkhitaryan goal would prove crucial in the return leg...

2nd Leg: Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Olympiacos

Firstly let me give credit to Olympiacos for two fantastic performances over both games as they attacked and defended brilliantly. It was a hard battle but with Dortmund faithful fully behind us we knew we could do it, although by half time the mood was anything but optimistic as we had had no real chances at all as we had been forced to take wild swings at goal, but after an incredible half time team talk from yours truly we came out fighting in the second period. Henrik Mkhitaryan forced Roberto to make a fantastic diving save after three second half minutes, with ten minutes to go it looked as though we wouldn't be making it to Berlin but then...Ezequiel Rescaldani found space in the box and fired the ball into the bottom corner of the net, just seconds after his goal and Rescaldani should have got his second, Dimitris Siovas recovered well to prevent a goal. Marco Reus also hit a speculative effort just over the bar with three minutes of the allotted ninety to go. Omar Elabdellaoui then hit a long ranger of his own two minutes later, but he got to far under the ball and hit his shot miles over the bar. The four added minutes seemed to last for four hours, but the referee (Antony Gautier) put the whistle to his lips...and blew for the sweet sound of the Full Time whistle, we're on our way to Berlin for the final of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!

German Cup Final; Borussia Dortmund vs Fortuna Dusseldorf

The final of the German Cup could see us complete a double over Dusseldorf, who were going into this match on a massive high after thrashing Augsburg 4-0 in the Promotion/Relegation Play-Off match (they drew the opening leg 1-1). And they wasted no time in getting into the match, Michael Liendl with an early Free Kick which grazed the crossbar and leaving Mitch Langerak (yep he's still here!) rooted to the spot. Ten minutes after that Free Kick, Marco Reus hit one of his own just wide of Michael Rensing's left post. Ivan Klasnic couldn't add to his six Cup goals, bobbl ing a shot wide after the ball just got away from him after twenty four minutes. Three minutes after this occurred Ilkay Gundogan hammered the ball high,wide and handsome with a volley at the near post. Just past the half hour and Tammo Harder missed the best chance of the gam at that point where, from point blank range, he shot straight at Rensing giving the thirty one year old an easy save. Six minutes before break and Lukas Schmitz produced a moment of brilliance from Langerak, forcing the Aussie to make an incredible reflex save and tip the ball over the bar. Just two minutes after the restart and Langerak was at it again, tis time Liendl was the man with the shot, Langerak switched hands to punch the ball away with his right fist. Twenty minutes from the end and with the clock ticking down Marco Reus jinked inside and curled a sumptuous shot into the bottom left corner off the post. And we went for more, Lucas Romero on a lung busting run with a testing shot that Rensing could only fist away for a corner. With five minutes to go Reus then blasted a Free Kick wide of the mark. And we were made to pay for our profligance when Lukas Schmitz found his way through and coolly slotted the ball into the corner of the goal with just 101 seconds remaining in the match I couldn't believe it...all our hard work going to waste and having to play another thirty minutes before the UCL final. But Tammo Harder didn't like the sound of that. In the second minute of injury Marco Reus hit a hopeful cross that was met by none, but at the back post (doing his best Fred Flinstone impression) Tammo Harder raced in to scissor kick the ball home and ran off to the manic Dortmund fans.

The Double has been completed, ladies and gentlemen we could complete the treble for the first time in our history in CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Final against...REAL MADRID! Can we stop Los Blancos from becoming the first team in more than twenty years to defend their UCL crown or will we win it for the first time in eighteen years? Leave your predictions below! Player of The Month

There really is no need to ask me who Player of the month goes to is there? Tammo Harder of course! he's been at his very best with four goals goals (three in the Bundesliga) giving him an end of season tally of five along with three assists in nineteen appearances, it's been a fine debut season for him and I look forward to what he can produce in the 2015/16 season.

Tammo Harder was virtually unstoppable this month and duly takes home Player of The Month.

Alas Marco Reus did not win the Golden Boot but with twenty goals we wouldn't have won the league without him and his goals along with those sixteen assists.

Mats Hummels has another double on his honours list and has made it clear he does not want to leave.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Final; Borussia Dortmund Vs Real Madrid

So here it is the moment you've all been waiting for, the final of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. It has given us entertainment from the preliminary rounds of qualifying when Levadia pummeled La Fiorita 9-0 on aggregate in July right up until Raphael Varane's header in hundredth and sixteenth minute against Juventus in the Semi Finals. The path to the final has not been an easy one for either side, so let's recap over how Dortmund and Real got to where they are.

Real top Group D by three points

The holders easily topped a routine Group D by three points scoring eighteen whilst conceding just four, the highlights were two crushing victories over HJK (5-0 and 7-0) and seeing off Schalke and Napoli to top the Group and go one step closer to retaining their crown.

Ironically had Dortmund lost out on top spot in their group it would have been BvB against Real in this round, as they cruised past Arsenal with ease. Despite drawing the first leg 1-1 the Real frontline of Benzema, Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo made sure that they were in hat for the Quarter Final draw.





In the Quarters Real were pushed all the way by a stubborn PSG side, but Pepe's header just before Half Time in the second leg and a late red card for Yohan Cabaye was too much for the French champs as Real sealed their place in their fifth consecutive Semi Final.

Going into the second leg and just as Juve had one hand on the final sunbed, Luka Modric struck to send the game to extra time. In the half hour French Centre Back nodded home to put Real one win from retaining their title.

BvB win Group A after Gunnners slip up

Borussia Dortmund managed to come first in their group also after Arsenal's slip up on Matchday six allowed BvB to finish first by two points. The highlight of their Group Stage was undoubtedly their Matchday one 5-2 victory against Arsenal where they came from 2-0 down to win handsomely.

Two very tense games saw Lucas Romero score the goal of the tournament with a thirty-five yard firebolt in the second of these two fixtures. Dortmund were the side that held their nerve though costing through the penalty shoot out easily, winning 4-2.

After being downed 2-0 in the first leg Borussia Dortmund were very much expected to be disposed of easily in second leg. But Dortmund were able to hold out Bayern for the first hour before Adrian Ramos pulled a goal back and Marco Reus scored a penalty with nine minutes to go and with just over a minute to go Tammo Harder's goal sent the home crowd into madness.

After a first leg scare where Greek Superleague champions won 2-1 Borussia Dortmund had somewhat of a mountain to climb in the second leg, and for the most part it looked as though the wouldn't climb it, that was until the eightieth minute when Ezequiel Rescaldani popped up to score the winner and send Dortmund into the final.

Real start with a more defensive 4-1-4-1 approach with Cristiano Ronaldo starting in the striker position and Illarramendi in the Defesnive midfield role, offering the grit and aggresion along with the creativity of Kroos and Modric. In goal of course Iker Casillas with the regular back four of, Marcelo, Ramos, Pepe and Carvajal Bale and young Brazilian Everton Ribeiro on the flanks.



Borussia Dortmund start with their standard eleven with Mats Ginter in for Sokratis, the Greek Centre Back not fully recovered from strained ankle ligaments. Other than that it's a standard Dortmund line up with Bender, Mkhitaryan and Gundogan the midfield three Reus and Young the wingers and Ramos leading the line.

Whilst Real have opted for a rather defensive bench Dortmund have gone for much more attacking options on theirs, this could shape the game, will Real attempt to shut out BvB? It does look that way and Dortmund looking to inject the game with a higher intensity.

28. Ronaldo hits an audacious turn to attempt a similar goal to that of Pappis Cisse's against Chelsea in 2012, but Horn just about manages to get his fingers to it.

44. After some promising build up Henrik Mkhitaryan smashes the ball over the bar and out.

Half Time: BvB 0-0 Real

Dortmund look the much likelier of the two sides to score after the first fourty five but can they make their chances count? We'll have to wait and see.

Second Half begins

50. Real start much more aggressive and with a much higher tempo and it almost works but Mats Hummels, having a fine game, dispossess him on the edge of the penalty area.

53. GOAL! Captain Mats Hummels nods in from a Marco Reus Free Kick to give Borussia Dortmund the lead. He climbs above Ronaldo and James Rodriguez to give Dortmund a deserved lead.

55. Real almost score from a Free Kick of their own but Horn denies with an incredible save to tip the ball onto the crossbar, incredibly Pepe misses the open goal rebound.

61. Ramos has a header saved by Casillas but is correctly flagged for offside.

62. Ronaldo forces a fine save from Horn as the Dortmund goalie fingers the ball onto the crossbar.

65. Reus with a Free Kick over the crossbar, Dortmund still looking dangerous but Real are looking much more threatening.

71. Real almost get lucky with the bounce, but it falls Dortmund's way and bender clears. Los Galacticos having a lot of corners but little is falling their way and the deliveries have been poor.

73. Ronaldo on the turn fires a shot at goal, it's going wide but Horn saves anyway and kicks upfield. The young German keeper is having a fine game, making several key saves to keep Dortmund in it.

77. Real seriously mounting up the pressure as Dortmund struggle to get beyond the half way line. Ronaldo is desperately trying to fire off shots from all angles in an attempt to equal the scoring.

79. Real have yet another corner cleared by Sven Bender, with every player in a yellow shirt back defending except Adrian Ramos Real are starting to throw more bodies forward.

83. Bender and Hummels defending on their own to stop Real scoring, Los Blancos seemingly can't create anything and time is running out.

85. Incredibly athletic save from Horn to stop a Ronaldo header destined for the bottom corner. CR7 is growing more frustrated and is feeding off scraps, will that be his last chance to score?

87. Real have several throw ins in a row, but BvB close down all of them the Bale is allowed to ghost inside, but is to greedy and takes an awful shot into the near side netting. Ronaldo, clearly exasperated, screams at Bale and throws his hands in the air in a manic way.

91. Ezequiel Rescaldani heads just wide from a Romero cross, Dortmund could easily still score so are Real going to risk committing bodies forward? Out of nowhere BvB are attacking can they nick a third and seal it?

Dortmund have put their Semi Final demons to bed and won the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE for the second time in their history, and also become the second German team to win a treble (after Bayern Munchen in 2013) there will be post match coverage to come.

Although Real dominated possession and had more shots, that lacked clinical nature about their shots. Snatching at their chances, but credit to Timo Horn for some wonderful saves to deny and a performance that may just have saved his Signal Iduna Park career.

End of season awards

Hello and welcome to the 2015 end of season awards for the German Bundesliga and UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE. Starting off we have the Borussia Dortmund Team of The Season, then the general Bundesliga version, after that awards for top scorer and things such as that and finally the awards for UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.

Dortmund Team of The Season

Despite spending the final three months of the season out with knee tendonitis, Roman Weidenfeller has been selected over Timo Horn for this position, in just thirteen Bundesliga games he managed to amass nine clean sheets and earned BvB priceless points in games such as the 1-0 away victories over Frankfurt and Augsburg.


Occupying the Right Back spot is Nathaniel Clyne, one of two Englishmen at the Signal Iduna Park he has proved to be worth every penny of his £17,250,000 outlay and looks set to be part of the first team for years to come.



Two obvious choices at Centre Back, the rock solid partnership of Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Mats Hummels. Both have been highly dependable defensively and also very productive for defenders at the other end of the field.


An easy choice at Left Back, Durm rarely missed a game last season and was one of the most consistent performers in the whole squad as he managed to get us the winner away at Augsburg and manage two assists. His energy and box-to-box style have been a big part of our success.


Their was never any time all season where our Team of The Season would not contain Bender, his aggressive, tough tackling style and nasty streak give the midfield much more balance and be the beast to Gundogan's and Mkhitaryan's beauty.


Despite being rotated more toward the end of the campaign, Ilkay Gundogan provided strength going forward, but help defensively as well. Although he only scored once (the third goal in the 3-1 win over Gladbach) he set up seven goals and has grown massively this season.


The creative force in our team this campaign, Henrik Mkhitaryan has had an incredible season and really stepped up when we needed him, seven goals and eight assists in just twenty nine appearances in the Bundesliga.


our man of the moment on many occasions, Tammo Harder has shot to stardom with five goals and three assists in his debut season, he's handled the pressure of Bundesliga, European and German Cup fixtures tremendously, showing maturity and ability.


The signing of the season, Ashley Young don't laugh he's good. Most peoples laughed when I signed, five goals and nine assists later and he's one of the best deals I've ever made in FM. Now if he got the bird poo out of his mouth...


And of course Marco Reus, he's been sensational, third top scorer in the Bundesliga with twenty and topped the assist charts with sixteen. He dug us out of a few holes this season, none more so than in the away match against Hoffenheim where he scored two second half goals to save us and earn a very undeserved win.

Now for the official Bundesliga Team of The Season, this can contain players from all the eighteen teams to compete in the Bundesliga of course.


Starting off in goal we have Freiburg's Swiss shot stopper, Roman Burki. With a string of excellent performances and priceless saves he helped Freiburg to a fourteenth placed finish and making sure they avoided relegation.


Coming in at Left Back is David Alaba, is what yet another season to remember for the Austrian (even if it wasn't for Bayern) as he racked up three assists and one goal, along with two player of the match awards.


A very surprising call, Badstuber made only seventeen starts this season (seven more from the bench) and was rather average all season, but then this is Bayern so...


Sokratis Papastathopoulos, the Greek colossus at the back for Borussia Dortmund in what has been a dream season for BvB. Always a threat from set pieces (he scored three and got one assist) and ever reliable at the back. Despite making some errors earlier on in the campaign he recovered to put in some top performances.


Despite making the error that effectively sent Bayern of the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE (it was Lahm that gave away the penalty that Reus converted to equalise) he was faultless in the Bundesliga and did everything he could to haul his side through the season, credit to Philip Lahm the Munchen captain lead by example and showed quality throughout the campaign.



Two very easy choices in midfield, Henrik Mkhitaryan and Xabi Alonso. Both models of consistency for their respective clubs, Mkhitaryan the creativity that sparked the Dortmund title win and Alonso, ever impressive and consistent throughout the campaign providing the balance in the engine room of Bayern Munchen.


Left Wing just had to go to Ashley Young after a series of brilliant displays convinced Mats Iconic to fork out £5,750,000 in January, a major shock that Louis Van Gaal wasn't even remotely interested in bringing him back. He's now a fan favourite at BvB and ensured that the fee payed for him was a bargain.


Alex Meier turned from goal grabber to assist machine in the 2015 Bundesliga campaign, notching fifteen (one behind Marco Reus who achieved sixteen) and scoring eight it was a great year for Meier and the Eintracht Frankfurt captain shows no signs of slowing down.


What is there to say about Reus? After his torn Achilles tendon kept him out of the FIFA WORLD CUP in Brazil he came back with a vengeance, destroying Bundesliga defences all season long. Without 'Rolls Reus' BvB would have had much less success as their match winner scored the amount of goals any striker would be proud of and assisted sixteen goals for teammates, there was no way he wasn't getting in this team.


VFB Stuttgart's Bosnian goal poacher Vedad Ibisevic was at his lethal best as he top scored the Bundesliga with twenty one goals in just twenty four appearances. His goals were a major contributing factor to Stuttgart's well earned sixth place and UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE football for 2015/16.

Dortmund Player of The Year

The was really no contest was there? The award for Player of The Season 2014/15 just had to Marco Reus. Without him we would have not got anywhere near what did, thirty six of our eighty seven goals were either scored or assisted by him and his all round performances were exceptional throughout the campaign.

Dortmund Young Player of The Year

You really need an explanation? No one could come anywhere near Super Tammo Harder in terms of best young players out of our team. Scoring big winners against Gladbach, Dusseldorf and Bayern this season and his link up play with Aubamyeng and Reus was class, much will be expected in 2015/16.

Goal of the season

Goal of the season goes to our Argentine prospect Lucas Romero, in the match against Atletico de Madrid when we looked set to crash out in only the first knockout round, the Madrid defenders must have been thinking 'what's the worst that can happen?'. Well how about he hits a piledriver from thirty five yards looping over all your heads and that of Jan Oblak's along with his outstretched left arm!! Because he did that.

Most Improved Player

Although I have given him his fair share of criticism over the course of the season, Timo Horn's UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE Final performance showed what a class act he really can be. After a dodgy first few months, he steadily improved and the injury to Roman Widenfeller was a great thing for him and allowed him to kick on and show what he really can do.

Best Transfer

Signed to be a backup to Reus with no real view to a permanent deal, early season injuries to Tammo Harder, Pierre Emerick Aubamyeng and Kuba Blaszczykowski gave him his chance and he took with both hands (also to stop himself falling over) with five goals and nine assists, coupled with three Man of The Match awards. The £5,750,000 payed to Louis Van Gall is looking like a bargain, with Young playing the best football of his career you could argue.

Moment of The Season

In a treble winning season there are many great moments, this award was the only hard one to pick out. Winning the UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE was huge, strolling toward Bundesliga title success was also a great moment and games such as the 6-1 destruction of Mainz or the 4-0 demolition of VFL Wolsfburg were great too. But one moment in particular sticks in the mind and you may have guessed it by now. It was the 3-0 victory over FCBayern Munchen in the UCL Quarter Finals coming from 2-0 down to triumph 3-2 on aggregate scoring. This award goes to Robert lewandowski...ha ha! I'm kidding it goes to Tammo Harder for his winner in the hundred and nineteenth minute of extra time.

Real in Gundogan bid

In light of recent rumours the future of Borussia Dortmund midfield maestro Ilkay Gudogan has been put in serious doubt after reported interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants have done little to hide their interest and it is well known that playing at the Santiago Bernabeu has been a lifelong dream for 'Gundo'. The Borussia Dortmund management team have also remained tight lipped over his future, it is believed that manager Mats Iconic has already attempted to convince him to stay and will try on last time before letting Real open any talks they would like with him.

'I'm not going to lie, playing for Real is a dream and if a bid were to be accepted then I'd definitely consider it. But if no offer comes I don't mind. Dortmund is a great club, champions of Germany and Europe and I'm so glad I've been a part of that.'

A clearly honest quote from the twenty four year old, one though that has left many BvB supporters feeling that he will.

If this is the case then surely Dortmund will be looking for a replacement? According to reports Luka Modric is the main target, with Real open to a swap deal for their Croat playmaker. He has the ability to get up and down the pitch like Gundogan and with four goals and nine assists last season and you could just see him in an Dortmund shirt.

Modric would fit right in at the Bundesliga.

Other targets could be unsettled Bbundesliga starlets Mario Gotze and Kevin De Bruyne,the latter of course having left BvB in 2013 to go to Bayern leaving many of the Yellow and Black fans baying for his blood. He is currently unhappy with his lack of first team football after making just fifteen appearances last season, it would take a big fee to get Bayern to sell and with Diego Simeone now at the helm he could give Gotze more playing time than Josep Guardiola, who was sacked after Bayern only won the German Super Cup in a disappointing second season for the Spaniard.


Branded a traitor by most Dortmund supporters, Gotze may rule out a return to Westphalia after the abuse from the fans.

VFL Wolfsburg's Belgian Kevin De Bruyne has already told the Wolfsburg management of his feelings about Luis Gustavo's move to Paris Saint Germain for £18,500,000 (the main cause of his distress), believing that an ambitious club like Wolfsburg can't afford to bring in players like Christian Benteke when they are selling players of Gustavo's calibre. Also the disappointing ninth place finish of last season is thought to be a major contributing factor.
