Thierry Henry retires


The former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry has today announced his retirement from football after a 20 year long career.
Henry has left New York Red Bulls but there was speculation that he might choose to play on at another club.


"It has been an incredible journey," he said.

He also said that he don´t know what he´ll do now. "It has always been a dream to be a manager for me. But I don´t know at the moment.

Thierry Henry won a silver medal in the World Cup 1998 and a gold medal in Euro 2000 with France. He´s France´s record goalscorer. He played for Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal and Barcelona in his career. He scored 175 Premier League goals and is fourth on the list of all-time scorers. Henry won two Premier League titles and three FA Cups with Arsenal. He also won Champions League with Barcelona in 2009.


"I would like to thank all the fans, team-mates and individuals involved with AS Monaco, Juventus, Arsenal, Barcelona, the New York Red Bulls and, of course, the French national team that have made my time in the game so special," said Henry in a statement.
"I have had some amazing memories (mostly good!) and a wonderful experience. I hope you have enjoyed watching as much as I have enjoyed taking part."

Thierry Henry is the new Olympique Lyon manager


Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to announce that Thierry Henry has signed a contract until 30th of June 2015 making him the new Olympique Lyonnais manager.

Henry retired from football last week after playing his last game for New York Red Bulls. He will arrive to Lyon tomorrow to sign his contract and hold a press conference.

As player, Henry is seen as the best Premier League striker ever. He has won Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Euro 2000 and a 2nd place in the World Cup 1998. Olympique Lyon will be his first club as a manager.

Bafetimbi Gomis joins Swansea City


Olympique Lyonnais can today confirm that Bafetimbi Gomis has joined the welsh side Swansea City on a free transfer. The club would like to thank Bafetimbi for his time in Lyon and wish him all the best in the future.

The 28-year old french striker joined Lyon in 2009 from Saint Etienne for €15m. Gomis has made 12 matches and scored three goals for the french national team. He made a total of 243 matches and scored 94 goals for Olympique Lyon.

Gomis has signed a contract until the summer of 2018 with Swansea City.

New signings: Cristophe Jallet & Lindsay Rose


The club is pleased to announce the signings of Christophe Jallet from Paris Saint Germain and Lindsay Rose from Valenciennes.

The right back Jallet has played eight matches for the french national team. He joins Lyon for a fee of €1.5m from the last season Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain.

22-year old centre back Lindsay Rose joins the club for a fee of €2m. Lindsay has made 3 matches for the french U-21 national team.

Gourcuff completes move to Everton


Olympique Lyonnais can today confirm that Yoann Gourcuff has joined Everton FC for a fee of €9.5m.

Yoann joined Lyon from Bordeaux in 2010. He made a total of 110 matches for Lyon, scoring 19 goals. He has signed a contract worth €88k per week until 2018 with Everton.

Boudebouz joins Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais are today delighted to announce that the club has reached a deal with SC Bastia for the transfer of Ryan Boudebouz.

Ryan joined Bastia in 2013 from Sochaux. He played 35 matches for Bastia last season and scored 5 goals. Ryan has also made 16 matches for the algerian national team.

Ryan has signed a contract worth €16k per week until 2017. The transfer fee was €3m.

Boudebouz left a short comment: "I´m really happy to have signed for Lyon. It´s a great club with big ambitions and I´m really looking forward to play for them."

Henry's thoughts

"It was a good pre-season. I´m happy with the team. The main test was against the italian champions Juventus. I think that we played pretty good, but Juve is very good and I think that they deserved the win. But as I said before: I´m pleased with the pre-season!"

Nice choice in picking Lyon as a team to manage, they have quite some history and their current squad is filled with potential, choosing Henry as manager only makes it better, definately following!
