Ligue 1 table

After a long and tough season Lyon could secure the league title in May before the big favourites PSG. Lyon has had a great season and many players has played great football like the top scorer Lacazette, the rock in the defense Samuel Umtiti and the winger Ryad Boudebouz. May was a good end for Lyon and they can look back on a great season to remember.

Europa League final

Lyon qualified for the final of Europa League after the semi final against Bayer Leverkusen. The final was a great game and both teams had some good chances to score. But when the goal came in the 70th minute it was Everton who took the lead through the striker Samuel Eto´o. 1-0 was the final result and Everton won the Europa League. Tough for Lyon but they had a great season in Europa League even though they did´nt won the final.

Player of the Month - Gaël Danic

The last Player of the Month award for the season goes to the winger Gaël Danic. He had a great month, playing very well and scoring three goals. Danic has been a big surprise this season and May was a great way for him to end a good season.

Henry's thoughts

http://i877.photobucket.com/albums/ab332/karam94/Thierry%20Henry%20FM14/9888.png
"Wow! What a month and what a season it has been. I´m very happy with the team. We managed to secure the Ligue 1 title after a great season and I´m very happy for that. Unfortunately we lost the final of Europa League. It was a close game and I think that we played good. But Everton is a quality team and Samuel Eto´o scored a great goal. That´s football sometimes, I guess. But as I said, overall I´m very happy with my first season with Lyon. It has been a great year and I hope that it will be many more in the future."

Summary of 2014-15 - Olympique Lyonnais

The season for Lyon is now over. And what a season it has been! With Thierry Henry as manager, his first manager job ever, Lyon won Ligue, Coupe de la Ligue and finished second in Europa League. The whole team has been great, but some stand out players are Alexandre Lacazette, Clement Grenier and Samuel Umtiti. In this article we will sum up the 2014-15 season of Olympique Lyonnais.

Ligue 1

After all Lyon managed to bring home the Ligue 1 title to the supporters. It was a long and tough season, but Lyon played great football and could finish at the top of the table before PSG and Olympique Marseille after winning 25 matches, drawing 10 matches and losing only 3 matches. Aswell Lyon had the top scorer of the league in their squad, Alexandre Lacazette with 30 goals in 35 games.

Europa League

Lyon had a great season in Europa League. There was few who expected Lyon to reach longer than the first knock out round. But Lyon proved them wrong. They finished first in their group, before Slovan Bratislava, Slovan Liberec and Standard Liege. In the knock-out rounds Lyon knocked out Torino, Sevilla, Tottenham and Leverkusen to reach the final. In the final the english side Everton was the opponent. It was a tough match and Everton won the game with 1-0 after a late goal from Samuel Eto´o. But after all Lyon made a great performeance in this years Europa League and next seson they´ll play Champions League, the greatest tournament of them all.

Coupe de la Ligue

Lyon won Coupe de la Ligue 2014-15 after a 1-0 win in the final versus Saint Etienne. On the road to the final Lyon knocked out Evian, Toulouse and Marseille. Lyon was very impressive in the cup and they really deserved the trophy.

Coupe de France

Coupe de France was a disappointment for Lyon. After two wins against Red Star and Dijon, Lyon was knocked out by Toulouse in the 11th round. In the end Monaco won the title.

Top Scorer - Alexandre Lacazette - 45 goals

Alexandre Lacazette was the top scorer of Lyon in the 2014-15 season. The french international scored amazing 45 goals in 59 matches. 30 goals in Ligue 1, 11 goals in Europa League and 4 goals in Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue. Lacazette has grown out to the key player of Lyon with his goal scoring but also with his ability to create chances. Thierry Henry needs to make sure that Lacazette will stay in Lyon for many seasons.

Top Assister - Gaël Danic - 19 assists

The top assister of Lyon in the 2014-15 season was Gaël Danic. He was the big surprise. Before the season nobody expected Danic to take a first-team spot. But he proved all of us wrong. With his speed, dribbling and passing Danic had a very impressive season. He is´nt getting younger, but if he can keep the form up we´ll se alot more of Danic in the future.

42 games - 18 Clean sheets - 2 MOTM - 7.01 Avg. Rating
The award for the best goalkeeper of the season goes to the spainard Victor Valdés. He was signed on a free transfer in October and since that, Lyons defense has improved a lot. Victor is a great and very experienced keeper and he knows what it takes to, for example win the Champions League. It´s very important for a team to have experience, and Victor is a key in that category.

Defender of the season - Samuel Umtiti

56 games - 3 goals - 2 assists - 1 MOTM - 7.10 Avg. Rating
The award for the best defender of the season goes to Samuel Umtiti. He has been a rock in the defense for Lyon and he has really shown that he has great potential. Samuel will be a world class defender in the future, and it´s very important for the manager Thierry Henry to keep him at the club.

Midfielder of the season - Clement Grenier

45 matches - 12 goals - 11 assists - 3 MOTM - 7.07 Avg. Rating
The award for the best midfielder of the season goes to the play maker Clement Grenier. He is very important for Lyon with his ability to control the game and with his great free kicks and corner kicks. Clement has grown out to a great player since getting promoted to the first team for a few year ago and he´s really one of the key players of Lyon.

Attacker of the year - Alexandre Lacazette

59 games - 45 goals - 18 assists - 9 MOTM - 7.28 Avg. Rating
The award for the best attacker of the season goes, ofcourse to Alexandre Lacazette, with no doubt. Alexandre had a great year, scoring 45 goals in 59 games. He can score goals in all ways. He´s a great finisher both with his feets and with his head, aswell he´s a great penalty taker. Alexandre has been the key player of Lyon in the 2014-15 season and we can just hope that he´ll stay at the club and give us some great goals next year too.

Best signing - Ryad Boudebouz

50 games - 12 goals - 13 assists - 9 MOTM - 7.24 Avg. Rating
The award for the best signing of the season goes to the winger Ryad Boudebouz. He arrived in the summer from the Ligue 1 club SC Bastia for a bargain sum of €3m. Ryad has had a great season and he´s very important for Lyon with his dribbling ability and his ability to change matches. He was a great signing and it shows that Henry can use the players in the right way and that the club has done their scouting.

Loan Summary 2014-15

Yassine Benzia impressed a lot at Feyenoord, here he is in the Lyon shirt.

In the 2014-15 season Lyon loaned five player to other clubs. Tariq (Tranzonspor), N´Jie (Valenciennes), Benzia (Feyenoord), Zeffane (Sochaux) and Ghezzal (Genk). All of them were impressive during their loan spell but now is the question are they good enough for Lyon? In this article we´ll summarize the season of all these players.

Humam Tariq - Trabzonspor

http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/attachments/player-faces-facepacks/531918d1395219670-cut-out-faces-blackmagic10-humamtariq.png
37 games - 8 goals - 7 assists - 3 MOTM - 7.19 Avg. Rating
Humam was bought by Lyon in the summer of 2014 from Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and he was sent out on loan to the turkish side Trabzonspor. He had a impressive season at the club with a total scored points of 15 (8 goals and 7 assists). Humam is born in 1996 and he´s 19 years old. At the moment it´s not sure if he´ll stay at Lyon to fight for a first team spot or if he´ll move to another club on loan to continue his development.

Clinton N´Jie - Valenciennes

34 games - 19 goals - 3 assists - 4 MOTM - 7.01 Avg. Rating
Clinton had a great season at Valenciennes. He ended up as the top scorer of Ligue 2 with impressive 19 goals scored. With his pace and strengh N´Jie is a threat to any defender. But in Lyon the competition is hard. Lyon has some great strikers like Lacazette, Benzia and Yattara. Another year on loan should be good for the career of N´Jie.

Yassine Benzia - Feyenoord

23 games - 9 goals - 5 assists - 3 MOTM - Avg. Rating 7.31
One of the greatest products of the Lyon academy, Yassine Benzia spent the season on loan at Feyenoord. And what a season he had. Even through he was out injured for two months he scored 9 goals. He mostly impressed in Europa League where he scored six goals in five games. Yassine has a bright future and Lyon have to make sure how to get the best out of Benzia. Maybe a deadly duo with Lacazette?

Mehdi Zeffane - Sochaux

http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/43/1351319230-29114944.png
32 games - 1 goal - 4 assists - 0 MOTM - 6.90 Avg. Rating
The right back Mehdi Zeffane showed that he´s a good defender in the last season that he spend on loan at the Ligue 2 club Sochaux. Many thinks that Mehdi is ready for Ligue 1 football next season. But Lyon already has Christophe Jallet and Corentin Tolisso at the right back spot. Mehdi probably have to leave the club if he wants first team football, on loan or in a transfer.

Rachid Ghezzal - Genk

http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2012/43/1351319229-85031826.png
20 games - 3 goals - 5 assists - 2 MOTM - Avg. Rating 7.15
Rachid spent the first half of the season at Lyon with very little playing time. In January he was loaned out to the belgian side Genk where he impressed a lot by scoring three and assisting five times in 20 games and after the season ended Genk used a clause in the loan deal to make the deal permanent for €2m.

Real Madrid chase Lacazette

Alexandre Lacazette has had a great season, beating the all time record for most goals scored in one Ligue 1 season. He scored fantastic 30 goals in 35 games. Of course Lacazette's performeances has made bigger clubs interested.

After a great 2013-14 season for Real Madrid with "La Decima", the 2014-15 season was a big dissappointment with not a single trophy. Real Madrid finished second in La Liga, lost the Copa del Rey final against Atletico Madrid, lost the semi final of the Club World Cup against Cruz Azul and was knocked out of Champions League in the semi final against Barcelona.

After an impressive 2013-14 season from Real, the 2014-15 season was a big dissappointment.

"Carlo Ancelotti is still the manager and the board has big faith in him", said the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. The manager will stay but the Real Madrid squad is changing. Real has already secured the signings of Bruno Martins Indi and Fabian Johnson and they´ve sold Fabio Coentrao to Manchester City. Now Alexandre Lacazette could be the next man to wear the Real Madrid shirt.

Both the manager Ancelotti and the president Perez has confirmed the interest in the Lyon striker. Ancelotti said following at a press conference that was held today: "Lacazette is a great player and I like great players. Nothing is done yet, but let´s see what the future shows." A very cryptic statement from Ancelotti.

http://www.actusports.fr/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/PSG-Real-Madrid-580x333.jpg
A cryptical Ancelotti confirmed the interest in Lacazette

Real Madrid surely has the money to bring Lacazette to Spain. The question is are Lyon willing to sell at all and are Alexandre interested. Of course the future will show it, but for now we can just confirm that Real Madrid has shown concrete interest in bringing Lacazette to Madrid. Now it´s up to the Lyon manager Thierry Henry to convice Alexandre to stay at Lyon where he´s the absolute key player.

Henry: Lacazette is going nowhere

http://static.bongda24h.vn/medias/standard/2014/12/17/Liverpool-mua-sao-Lyon-de-tang-cuong-hang-tien-dao-hinh-anh.jpg

Alexandre Lacazette has had a great season at Lyon, scoring 30 goals in 35 games in Ligue 1 and it was no surprise that bigger clubs would be interested in signing him. Yesterday goal.com reported that Real Madrid is interested in signing Lacazette and that both Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed the interest.

But it does´nt seems to be easy for Real Madrid to sign Lacazette. Today the Lyon manager Thierry Henry made clear that Lacazette will not leave Lyon in this summer. He said follwing: "Of course I have heard the rumours about Alexandre aswell and I can confirm that we have had several inquiries about him, but he is not for sale and he will stay here at Lyon". Lacazette has currently three years left on his contract and after Henry's statement it looks like Lacaztte will be staying.

El Shaarawy signs for Lyon

Olympique Lyonnais are today delighted to be able to announce the signing of the Italian winger Stephan El Shaarawy from AC Milan.

Stephan's 2014-15 season in Milan was pretty average. He played nine games from start and was subbed on eleven times. He scored seven goals in Serie A. Stephan made a total of 84 games and scored 22 goals for Milan since joining for €15.5m from Genoa in 2011. He has signed a five year contract with Lyon worth about €80k per week.

Stephan passed the medical test and he met the press for some questions. Here is what he said about the transfer and his new club: "I´m very happy to have signed for Lyon. It will be a fresh start for me and I am looking forward to meet the team, the coach and the fans."
Got a nice story going on here. The updates are clean and well presented and you're having a lot of success in game, nice work :D
