Can makes Spurs move Permanent in £25.5m Deal

http://www.premierleague.cz/gf/modules/aktuality/Can_zezadu_Liverpool_15.jpg
Can only 18 appearances in total for Liverpool, before moving to White Hart Lane on loan for two years

As Tottenham gear up for next season, manager Pochettino has made his first move in the transfer market, sealing a £25.5m deal to make midfielder Emre Can's loan deal a permanent affair. The German midfielder has spent the last 18 months on loan in London, and established himself quickly as an integral part of Pochettino's side.

During his loan spell, Can made a total of 47 appearances, scoring 3 goals, and forging a reputation for being one of the most commanding holding midfielders at the club. This season, he was inducted in the club's overall best XI, and named in the seasonal best XI, narrowly missing out on being the fan's player of the year to England starlet Harry Kane.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Can was positive about the deal to keep him at Spurs, saying:
"It's been a really great experience, playing here for the last 18 months, and to be as close to the fans and my team-mates as I am, I couldn't have imagined going back to Liverpool. Tottenham, and Mauricio, have been excellent to me, and I can see a long and successful future with this club.

My main priority is to grow as a player and learn from the very best, and it's a massive honour to be fighting for a midfield spot along side Lucas [Romero], Martin [Odegaard], Christian [Eriksen] and Pierre [Emile-Hojberg]. They're all great guys, and we get on very well. It's great to go to training, knowing i've just signed a contract until 2021, and really feel like part of a unit. The squad has really gelled this year, and I think we could be a real force in the coming season."

Christian Eriksen has spoken highly of Can, suggesting the youngster could become one of the best

As Spurs team-mate Christian Eriksen signed a one-year extension with the club, he spoke highly of Can, and even suggested that he could become one of the best the club has ever seen:

"When people talk about great midfielders, they always talk about the Xavis, the Messi's, the Ronaldo's of this world. Players who can pick out a pass from miles away, and who have the dribbling skills to beat an entire team. It's not often that they talk about players like Emre, who can break down opposition attacks all day long, and then find a killer pass to suddenly put their team on the front foot. But that's what he's very good at. We've seen that over the last 18 months, and we've all watched him develop into a world-class player.

I won't lie, it makes me scared for my place in the team!

But that's a good thing - it's great to have him train alongside me, and he pushes me every day to become a better player. I think one day he will be spoken of in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo."

Perhaps Eriksen is a bit over-excited, but this deal is great news for Spurs fans
Very good transfer!
Emre Can lead you to glory!

Spurs Say Goodbye to 6 Youngsters, As Pochettino Streamlines Squad

Once touted as the future of England's defence, Dier has been kept out of the Spurs team by the likes of Can and Romero

Spurs today bid farewell to 6 of their youngsters, as boss Mauricio Pocettino looks to streamline the club's structure ahead of the new season and the next round of Financial Fair Play rules. The biggest departure is that of English defender Eric Dier, who moves to Aston Villa for £6m.

Some fans have voiced concern at the increasing lack of Homegrown Talent at the club, but Pochettino sought to assure those fans at a press conference today, stating that "It is understandable that fans are frustrated by how few Homegrown players we are fielding at the moment, but in the youth teams, we have many, many bright prospects, who just need some time to develop before we let them make the step up. But there are several who are very close to being good enough.

Our foreign players are tutoring these youngsters, and passing on the kind of knowledge which only comes from leagues abroad, and this gives our youngsters a great mix of technicality and physicality which they can then use to their advantage when they make the step up."

So it's a waiting game for Spurs just now, as they bleed the next generation of young players

The Departures

Spurs Splash Cash on Nottingham Forest Striker

Forest Striker Assombalonga joins up for a deal reportedly worth around £13.5m

Tottenham have once again opened the chequebook, signing Nottingham Forest's Congolese striker Britt Assombalonga in a deal reportedly worth £13.5m. The 24 year old has been at Forest for the last two years, and made his Premier league debut last season, scoring 17 goals in 37 matches in the league, with a grand season total of 21 goals in 41 matches in all competitions.

The Striker has been in impeccable form for Forest, shortlisted for the 2015 African Young Footballer Of The Year, and runner-up for the 2015 African Striker of the Year. Assombalonga is a well-known name across Africa. He made his International Debut in September 2014, and has gone on to score 24 goals in 25 international appearances.

He started his career at Watford in the 2009/2010 season, eventually breaking into the first team in 2011, when he made 4 appearances. During that spell, he spent time on loan at Wealdstone, Braintree Town and Southend, making a combined total of 59 appearances and scoring 26 goals.

He left Watford in 2013, joining Peterborugh United for £1.3m, where he made 44 appearances and contributed 24 goals. That form quickly got him noticed, and in June 2014, he joined Forest in a £5.5m deal.

Assombalonga's scoring statistics throughout his career speak volumes for the prolific striker

At Nottingham, Assombalonga started to pick up award after award, picking up nominations for African Young Footballer of the Year, and African Striker of the Year. He made 74 appearances for Forest, scoring 34 goals and helping his side to the 2015 Sky Bet Championship title.

A prolific striker from the very start of his career, we caught up with Britt to get his thoughts on his move to the 'big time'

"I think this move to Tottenham is a huge opportunity for me; they are a great side with a lot of potential, and there are some incredible players here for me to learn from.

I haven't really had the chance to settle at a club, and i'm hoping that Tottenham give me that - a great group of lads, with a great work ethic, and i'm really pleased to get this move to a team playing in Europe regularly, with the biggest teams in the world."

Lamela Seals Move Away From Spurs, Costing PSG £60m

http://keyassets.timeincuk.net/inspirewp/live/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2014/10/erik-lamela.jpg
The Argentinian scored 15 goals in 49 games for Tottenham, prompting PSG to launch an audacious transfer campaign.

Fan Favourite Erik Lamela has just become one of the most expensive players in world football, as he moves to PSG for £60m. The Argentinian right winger moved to Spurs in 2013 for £27.5m, and was viewed by some as a replacement for the outgoing Gareth Bale.

Two seasons later, and Tottenham have doubled their money on the tricky winger, although fans are said to be disappointed that he was allowed to leave in the first place. Shortlisted for the Golden Ball, Lamela is potentially one of the highest profile players to have played at Tottenham, but speaking to the media today, he has revealed why he had to move.

Erik Lamela, PSG:
I think it was the right time for me to move...Tottenham are a great club, and I cannot thank the fans, manager and players for everything they have helped me to achieve. But every player wants to win the Champions League. Every player wants to feel the glory of winning their domestic league...To feel the euphoria of being the best in your country, then in Europe, and then the best in the world.
That is why I chose PSG - they have a great squad, and can win many, many trophies.

Some Spurs fans are understandably upset by Lamela's 'golddigging', with one taking to twitter to vent his frustrations; "Can't Believe he's said that. We'll show him this season - Europe, here we come! #COYS

Striker Harry Kane, who was close to Lamela, has also spoken on the winger's departure:
Harry Kane, Tottenham Hotspur:
"I'm sad to see Erik go. He taught me so much about the game; how to move off the ball, where to find the space, how to work space where there's apparently none...He's a great guy, and I think his words have been twisted more than necessary.
He didn't say we would never win anything, he just said that he personally cannot wait for that to happen, and that's understandable. Footballers, especially wingers, see the twilight of their careers come rattling along faster than they used to - Erik's 25, and might only have one more, maybe two, World Cups left, and thats not that long in footballing terms, when you think...

Pre-Season 2016

Argentinian Lamela's departure left Spurs with a gap to fill on the wings

As we gear up for the new Season, Spurs have been taking on some of Europes bigger names, in a whistlestop tour of Europe. A short pre-season means the players have spent most of their summer gelling on the training ground, and that class certainly shone through as the London side made it through the month without defeat.

Player Of The Month: Fernando Torres

http://i27.tinypic.com/2cib86r.png
The Spaniard caught the eye of many this month, with an energy and fervor about him the likes of which had not been seen since his time at Liverpool. Wtih 4 goals in 3 games, Torres showed exactly why Spurs have brought him in on a free transfer, and fired a warning shot across the bow of the likes of Harry Kane and Britt Assombalonga.

Excellent style, made it easily readable, great results there as well!
I Like the new update style. Its a shame to see Lamela out, but for that value it was a great sale! Nice to see F.Torres in Form, good results for pre-season. Keep up the good work
Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback!
Winger Adama Traore Extended His Spurs Loan, and has it all to prove this season

As A club, I doubt we could have asked for a better start to my 3rd season in charge. Despite struggling against Koln in champions league qualifying, the lads looked sharp in the league, and an unbeaten start was exactly what was needed. Our quality of play has been excellent, and if we can keep this up, who knows what this season holds for us.

Our Norwegian wonderkid really got his head down this month throwing himself into every game he started, and impressing with his range of passing and movement, even notching a goal against Norwich! A great start to what could be his breakthrough season.

Excellent month there mate! Shame Torres hasn't continued his run of good form, but it doesn't matter when you have Assombalonga and Kane on fire :)
Torres has looked more like his old self since his return to England

A mixed month for us, but as the team gels more and more, we're starting to look like a side who could challenge for some serious honours. Our front line has been lethal thus far, and in midfield and defence we look assured and confident in most matches. With some tactical fine-tuning, we could be a real force.

Player Of The Month: Harry Kane

After scoring 17 in 29 league games last season, it was only a matter of time before Harry Kane found his range, and he did so this month, in spectacular fashion, with 3 goals from 4 games this month. The youngster has been scintillating, and his form can only improve as the season goes on.
