A Meeting of Desperation

"Hi Steve. What are you doing here?" I questioned him, I knew why he was here. He's done this 3 times now and all 3 times I have rejected his offer.

"Hi Alex. I'm here for the sights and sounds of Holland of course he chuckled." His reply was filled with the sarcasm I had come to know from him from our meetings together. "In all seriousness Alex, you know why I am here. I want to offer you the Crystal Palace job."

Chuckling to myself I replied "And you know my reply Steve. It's a no. Sorry." I was truly sorry this time, the same as the Southampton offer if it came 2 months ago I would of taken it but not now I was happy.

"Are you sure I can't persuade you Alex? I need help at the 4 clubs you've been at they have always come out with a profit, the Club needs that. The Bank is running out and soon we may have to look at Administration." Steve stated this with a hint of depression. I knew they where in a bad way Pardew and Moyes had made expensive buys but never really challenged any further than mid-table.

"3 Clubs Steve, ASNL was for 2 months and the club got taken over and the new board didn't want an Englishman in control of the team. I know I have seen you're in dire straights but I can't leave this team. It was my first day here you know?" I replied to Steve truly, truly sorry that I couldn't help him.

"It's okay Alex, it was worth a try." He was upset I could tell. I would jump at the chance to be a manager again in the Premier League but now wasn't the right time. I needed to think about my career and I knew I wouldn't be given the time to sort the mess out at Palace that it would take.

There was an awkward minute's silence before the eerie silence was broken by Steve "Are you sure there is no way I could l persuade you to leave here?" He was questioning me and he was pushing me to come to Palace.

"Steve honestly I can't if you came to me 2 months ago with this offer I would of seriously considered it but not now. I am contracted to SC Heereveen for 2 years and for a minimum of 2 years I will stay!" I wasn't expecting myself to say that and I was truly surprised at the way I said this. I wanted to say sorry for being so harsh but I needed him to understand I wasn't leaving.

"Okay Alex. Okay" He said and I watched his shoulders slump "I will leave you be for now. However I may be back at some point in the future again if Crystal Palace are still around."

With that we shook hands he got in his car and drove off.

'Heereveen have to got to find a goal from somewhere if they want to come away from this game with a point at least.'

'Oh here we go Stefan, Heereveen are attacking.'

'Here goes Fetfatzidis down the right wing, he is being supported by Estomba on his right and Kone on his left in the centre of midfield. The Den Haag defense are trying to show him onto his weaker foot. Oh my god that was beautiful. He's dropped his shoulder to go one way but then has sold the both of them with a bit of trickery and has cut inside to shoot at goal on his favored left foot and has just smashed the ball into the top far corner of the goal.'

'I know it's early in the season Marco but that has to be a contender for goal of the season hasn't it?'

'Too right Stefan, too right. Listen to the away fans they are singing and cheering. This club has not had much to cheer about this season but it looks like Alex Capp's first game in charge could be a very much needed draw against a very good ADO Den Haag side.'

'There goes the final whistle, and the Heereveen players look like a completely different set of players now compared to last week. There is a real belief in this squad now and they are all hugging their manager now.'

'Marco sorry to interrupt you but I've just heard we can go down to the pitch side where we have our reporter Nikita with the goalscorer Fetfatzidis. Over to you Nikita'

'Thank you Marco and Stefan. I have the goalscorer with me. Ioannis how does it feel to score such an important goal for the club in the new manager's first game of his tenure here?

'It's amazing to score such a crucial goal but I have to give credit to the Gaffe for believing in me. He has only been here for 3 days but he has changed the mood around the club. He has brought me back into the first team after I had a falling in out with the last manager here and that is a big confidence boost for me.'

'Thank you Ioannis. you currently lie in 15th place in the league, where do you think you could finish now under Capp?'

'Before Capp joined I didn't think we would of improved but the way he has the boys all geared up now and the way he makes sure we all work on our individual game as well as the team game as he feels everyone is important to the team and we learn 3 or 4 different roles within the team in case of injuries.'

'Thank you Ioannis for that. From myself and the guys in the commentators box, Thank you for joining us for this Eredivise game and Good Night'

Capp to Look at Free Agent's Wayne Rooney and Micah Richards

Reports coming out of Abe Lenstra Stadion is that Capp is looking to free agents Wayne Rooney and Micah Richards to bolster his squad with some much needed firepower and strength. Rooney's contract ran out at the end of last season and has found it difficult to find a club since then due to his high wage demands. Richards has been without a club for 2 years and has been training with Aston Villa to keep his fitness up.

Richards may be the more preferred choice as Capp's defense are extremely light at this moment in time with only having 5 first team regulars with 2 youth players who have been promoted to help cover. This is not down to injuries or red cards it is down to the problem the defense was never strengthened in the Summer. We will keep you updated as this story progresses.

Staying with Heereveen at the moment with other news. Capp may also have to look for a few new faces next season as it is reported no less than 6 first team players, 3 youth players contracts are expiring at the end of the season, with this on top of the ending of 5 loans at the club it may be a difficult time for Capp and he may have to be prepared to go to the loan market again as we know that Heereveen's finance's are not the best currently.

Hi All thank you for all tuning in on this Wednesday afternoon where I have with me SC Heereveen Manager Alex Capp. Hi Alex, how are you?

Hi Marco. I'm good thank you, yourself? Thanks for having me on your show.

I'm good thanks. Now Alex you've been with Heereveen for little over a week now and supporters are already saying you have answered their prayers for coming here. What do you have to say about that?

Umm what I can say is thank you for the support but I don't want to be judged on one game that I have coached judge me after my first month here and then my next 3 and then at the end of the season. Judge me then on whether I have deserved the praise and support I have been given.

I see Alex and I do understand but surely it's a boost knowing you've got that support?

Oh no don't get me wrong I think it's brilliant and as a manager it is always good to have the support of the fans but I believe the praise at this moment in time is I do not deserve I have managed one game which we drew. We did come back from one nil down against a very very good Den Haag side but I felt we could of possibly done better and so do the boys.

Ah okay. With regards to your players have any of them taken any notice of the transfer stories of you looking to sign Wayne Rooney and Micah Richards?

No they are not. I told them straight about these stories. We have met with Rooney and his representatives but couldn't finalize the deal as we couldn't agree on bonuses and the length of his contract. We are meeting with Richard's representatives later in the week after initial talks went well.

So you hear it here first folks Rooney will not be signing for SC Heereveen. Staying with players however what are you going to do about your supposed end of season crisis with no less than 14 players to leave. How are you going to deal with such a large group of players leaving?

I'm glad you asked that question Marco. Now for certain 5 players are leaving but that is because they are on loan and unless we can buy then permanently of extend their loan they will be leaving. With regards to our own players we are in talks about extending their contracts two have rejected our offers and we have given them free rein to look for a new club at the end of the season or in January.

Ah so it must not such a crisis then. hahaha. We have one last question which is from the fans. Where do you think you will be able to finish in the league?

I personally like to finish in Europe qualifying places and I am not accepting anything worse. The players agree and so do the staff, so we are working hard to reach that goal. The board set this target a the beginning of the season I would like to meet it after the shambles of the last manager.

Strong words their from Alex Cap. Thank you for coming.

Thank you for having me Marco.

Well there you have it folks. Fighting words from Capp there. Do you think he will do it or do you not? Vote via our Online Poll or through our App. From me, Alex Capp and the people here at World Soccer Radio. Good bye and Good Night

A Full Month in Charge

After Capp's first full month in charge at SCH we can surely see a massive improvement from the team. After Capp's first game against ADO Den Haag where they drew 2-2 they where expected to carry on in the same fashion but proving everyone wrong with 3 league wins and a win in the Cup to progress further.

We played some excellent football this month and I feel the Den Haag game was just a warm up for the rest of the season. Capp Said after the game. We played some excellent football. I am finding leaders all over the pitch and I feel that the teams early misfortune's where just a blip, we are now moving forward as a team

They started off with a visit from FC Utrecht where taking the lead into half time looked certain to win however after scoring a 2nd goal Heereveen started to look shakey and Utrecht took this advantage a got a goal back however it was not enough as it was too late to make the momentum count.

Their next two games where against 2nd and 3rd place teams. Heereveen however defied the odds and won both 1-0 however they where not easy affairs scoring the winning goals in the last 20minutes in the game after being dominated for most of the game. PSV went into the game as massive favourites as a win would of made them go top of the table and putting pressure on Title favourites Ajax however their opponent's where not reading from the same script.

SCH finished the month with a home game against FC Twente in the Dutch Cup. They ran out 3-0 winners and deservedly so with Twente fielding a much weakened side. They did come under a lot of criticism for this and some pundits say they are not taking this competition seriously. The Dutch FA have however made a statement saying they will investigate this. The difference in class of players on the pitch could be told by anybody watching. Twente fielded 4 youth players and 3 reserve team players against a Heereveen side that fielded 7 First team players with the remaining paces filled by fringe players with the chance to prove themselves to the Gaffe. Young Aussie winger Chris Payne was given a shot a starting and he took it by the scruff of the neck scoring the opening goal and creating the last goal. Takeshi Koga scored the second and third goal. Scoring his first goal for Heereveen while on loan from AC Milan.

It was a great month for the lads Capp explained to he clubs website My player of the month has to be Ioannis. He has been a great team player and scored the winning goal in the PSV game. He is everything want a player to be and that is a hard working team mate who would put ersonal accolades assigned to help the team

Things are starting to look up for the club who looked destined for relegation. Next month SC Heereveen welcome Vitesse Arnhem and FC Groningen to the Abe Lenstra Stadion with a visit to FC Twente in the middle.
I don't normally enjoy interview/1st person stories, however, I have to say yours is really well written Cappy. Keep it up!
@Maximus Thanks man I try to keep it open to the way I write it but I do mainly go down the 1st person route

Impressive run Continues

SC Heereveen's impressive run has continued this month with 2 wins and a draw against teams around them.

They started off with a visit from Vitesse who going into the game where looking at yet another disappointment and SCH didn't disappoint running out 2-1 winners. With goals coming from Estomba and Mastour. There was an early scare with ex-Chelsea Loanee Gael Kakuta scoring in between the two Heereveen goals.

Travelling to FC Twente, Heereveen where expected to show another dominating performance but came up short in what can be said as a bore draw with the most interesting part of the game came when a flare was thrown at SCH Keeper Nordfeldt hitting him in the process. The game was stopped while he received treatment and is now out for 2 months. Nordfeldt's replacement Caca looked nervous in his first ever appearance since a £1.1 Million move from Sao Paulo and it showed letting in two soft goals against FC Groningen however Heereveen got their act together in the 2nd half controlling the play and running out eventual winners 3-2 scoring the winning gals in the dying seconds of the game.

Capp had this to say afterwards. We played well this month the Twente game was a slight disappont especially with the silly injury that was caused. Capp explained. But we have a Keeper in Caca who I feel will be a great replacement for Nordfeldt and we do not need to worry about any troubles in goal. On whether the FA look into the incident or not I feel that Twente should say sorry for what has happened as there was obviously not enough stewards around the ground and due to that problem one of our players is out injured. I was happy with our final performance as I had to pay a few fringe players due to fitness concerns.
great start to your career at Heerenveen Cappy, hopefully you can start challenging the big boys of Holland soon

Rooney goes back to where he started

Reports have come out from Goodison Park that Wane Rooney has re-signed for Everton after leaving the club in 2004 in a £26.5million mover to Manchester United. A host of clubs where reportedly looking at Rooney with teams from England, Italy, Spain and SC Heereveen from Eredevise. Capp had this too say about the move. We did try to sign Rooney however we couldn't agree on personal terms. That wasn't anybodies fault in particular, we just didn't have the available funds in the wage budget to meet his demands.

Capp is still supposedly looking at Richards as a defensive addition but nothing has been confirmed as of yet from the manager and he doesn't want to answer that question in any interviews.

Thanks for the support it is something I am looking to do
