Down & Out

In today's news we find that Manuel Pellegrini has been relieved of his duties at Manchester City. It is following what the board of directors called a "Poor Season" in there terms and they feel its time for a change of personnel. Manchester City who crashed out of 'The Champions League' in the Round of 16 to a strong Barcelona side where they lost 1-2 at Home and then lost the away tie 1-0 sending them out (3-1) on aggregate. Before there dismissal from the Champions League the Mancs were also knocked out of the F.A Cup by Championship outfit Middlesborough where they lost 2-0 at the Etihad and were also knocked out of the League Cup. Threads were hanging thin and The Citizens where slipping away from league leaders Chelsea who where on course to steel the title from Manchester City. Surely if City didn't retain there title then Pellegrini was a goner. As the months dragged on Chelsea were still top of the league and City where sitting 3rd in the table, Chelsea only needed to win there next game to win the league and they delivered with a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace after a Eden Hazard penalty. Pellegrini was given till the end of the season where he was sacked last night after failing to meet all expectations set by the board.
Pellegrini released a statement on twitter saying "I thank all the Manchester City fans for there support and I'm grateful for being able to manage the best team in England". He was hit back with responses from many Citizen fans as well as a few famous faces such as 'Samir Nasri' who tweeted "Sad too see Pellegrini go, good luck where ever you go". Its clear to see that the players had a good working relationship with Manuel but all friendships come to an end. Where will Pellegrini head to now? Who knows but there are a few good job openings out there with teams like Borrussia Dortmund and Napoli available to him.
All heads will turn too who will be the next boss of Manchester City Football Club and the fans will find out in due course. The board of directors have made it clear who they want as there next manager and have only left the hint of "He is not currently managing a club" This leaves a whole spectrum of speculation with Managers such as, Gianfranco Zola, Gus Poyet, Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti out of work. Below we have our odds on who will be the next Citizens manager and you can make your bets too.
