Veteran Shot Stopper Joins Benvenuti's Army

Thirty-two year old Italian goalkeeper Luca Tomasig today put pen to paper for Lupa Roma, signing a two year deal. Starting goalkeeper Michele Mangiapelo had received a dislocated shoulder in pre-season training, and is set to miss at least the first month of the competitive season, along with the rest of pre-season. With this in mind, manager Antonio Benvenuti did not hesitate to replace his injured goal tender.

Luca Tomasig came through the Atalanta academy, and made his senior debut for Pozzuolo del Friuli in Serie D in a loan spell during the 2001/2002 season, where he made 28 league appearances. However, he was unable to break in to Atalanta's side, and experienced a number of clubs such as Belluno, Cagliari, Padova, AC Reggiana (twice), AlbinoLeffe, and Novara. Tomasig last played for Novara in Serie B two seasons ago, but was released by the club in the summer of 2014. Now, he has made his return to competitive football by signing for Lupa Roma.

Tomasig is a very well rounded goalkeeper and is expected to challenge Mangiapelo for a starting spot, once the latter returns from injury. At thirty-two years of age, Mangiapelo is in the prime of his career as a goalkeeper and is a welcome addition to Benvenuti's side, according to the manager himself.

Antonio Benvenuti:
"It was not ideal for us that Mangiapelo picked up a medium-term injury but that is something which we had to find a solution for and we have, in the form of Luca Tomasig. Luca is a very talented goalkeeper and I expect him to be reliable between the posts. He has a lot of experience, having made over 200 league appearances, and I fully expect him to show this experience every day; in training and in matches."

Luca looks like a solid signing, Antonio has definitely hit the ground running.
C.J.Lippo, it's certainly been hectic for Antonio so far :P

Schäfer: Squad Does Not Require Improvement

Half a month in to his managerial career with Dynamo Dresden, Christian Schäfer spoke with a reporter from to discuss his experience to date. The former librarian was full of praise for his players, and professed his belief in Dynamo's title chances for the upcoming season.

Christian Schäfer:
"It's been a terrific experience so far. I come to the club every day with a smile in my face knowing that every minute as manager of this fantastic football club is a privilege worth enjoying. I love every aspect of being a professional football manager and my knowledge of the game has improved every day. I have started one of the greatest adventures of my life and every day is a dream.

My staff team has been brilliant to date. They are enthusiastic and firmly committed to the club, making my job a lot easier for me. They have great experience in the game and have taught me some invaluable lessons. We work hard together every day and we have fantastic chemistry with one another. We have a similar goal in mind which we ware working towards with the players, and hopefully we can achieve this in the future.

The players themselves have been nothing but a pleasure to work with. They show a great work ethic and tremendous ability. We are looking to challenge for the title this season and we have a fantastic chance to achieve this. The squad is very strong and I do not believe that it requires improving this season. Unless there are outgoing players, I do not see any new players coming in.

We have a few games left in pre-season before we kick off in the league. So far the players have been building up their match fitness and learning my managerial philosophies. We have made good progress so far, and I expect us to make even more before the season starts. It is an exciting time for Dynamo and we will look to play the best football that we can!"

Dynamo start their league campaign with a home fixture against FC Erzebirge Aue on 24/07/15. With just two friendlies remaining this pre-season, against Zwickau and Borea Dresden, Dynamo look to be close to ready for the upcoming season.

Interesting to see how you fare, being the unknown entity that led to Minge's resignation. (Yes, I'm still upset about that) :P

great story! How to you copy the url of your posts?
Loving the updates.
Very nice choice of clubs to the managers, it'll be amazing to follow your story.
Good luck for both managers, now that they have a club (atleast I got there now :) ).
And even more luck to the modest Schäfer. Really good guy :D
But also I wish well to Benvenuti, may he reach the place he wants to.
Woah, Del Piero is an unreal coup for L. Roma. Curious to see how he does. Gerd Muller is also one of the finest coaches on this, so well done in bringing him into the Dresden set-up.
Your Vauxhall story is great
Just catch up with the story.
Del Pierooo :D
Making great improvements on the squads and staff. Nice work
