Match Stats

Match Info
It wasn't pretty but Chelsea managed to get a 2-1 win over A-League opponents Melbourne Victory in their first match for 2015/16. The Blues dominated large swathes of the game but to the credit of the Victory, they held strong against an admittedly weaker Chelsea team that still included Eden Hazard and John Terry.

Melbourne Victory stunned a dreary Chelsea who were perhaps not fully into the game, with Kosta Barbarouses punishing Azpilicueta with a decisive run into the box and solid finish.

It didn't take long, however, for Chelsea to equalise, with Bertrand Traore finding time and space at the far post thanks to some good vision from new right back Mayke.

John Terry then scored what proved to be the decisive goal, from a great delivery from Eden Hazard, and gave the Blues a 2-1 lead at the brink of half time that they maintained to the end of the game.
Looks like the Victory pushed you all the way there mate. Some good footballers in Straya! ;)
CJ Lippo Yeah for sure! Even if most of them were greyed out players...

Begovi? Signs For Chelsea

Asmir Begovi? has put pen to paper on a deal which will see him cross from Stoke City to Chelsea on a four year deal. The 28 year old Bosnian international moves for an undisclosed fee, believed to be around £8m, despite reported heavy interest from Liverpool, who were angling for Begovi? to become their new number one. At Chelsea, however, he is expected to replace Petr ?ech as Thibaut Courtois’ understudy after the Czech keeper left for Arsenal late last month.

Stoke were surely hoping to keep the talented keeper who still had a year left to run on his contract. However, Begovi? says his time at the Britannia Stadium is up and it is time for new challenges.

“I have loved my time at Stoke but feel I had to take this opportunity to continue to develop and challenge myself as a player.” - Asmir Begovi?

The Bosnia & Herzegovina international adds to a growing number of Chelsea newcomers this season following the purchases of Mayke and Marc Bartra and loan of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao, and will take the number one shirt left vacant by the departed Petr ?ech as Courtois has opted to retain his number 13.
