Aldridge Adventures - My First Day

It felt like ages, but my first day arrived here at Tranmere Rovers after so long. Everything felt the same, but I still had the same butterflies that I had when I first walked out as a player here at Prenton Park. Only this time the expectation was so much, much bigger. I hate to blow my own trumpet but I became a legend here I scored 138 goals in 243 appearances for the club. Obviously I am delighted to be back but I really want to succeed and I don't want let anyone down because I know how hard this club strives to be the best. What you see on the pitch is because of all the effort that the backroom and behind the scenes staff do on a daily basis to make mine and the players' job so much easier. I strolled down to take the players' first training session, what I saw was good young talent I've got to say that I am really excited for what we can achieve this season. Everyone looked happy and ultimately they looked like they wanted to be here at Tranmere. First of all we did a little bit of a team building exercise where I got to find out a little bit more about the players, after that we just had a mini 5-a-side tournament. I have made a list of who I think will be influential to our chances of getting promotion this season.

Key Players

- Iain Turner - Goalkeeper

- Michael Ihiekwe - Defender

- Matt Hill - Defender

- Gary Taylor-Fletcher - Attacker

- Lois Maynard - Midfielder

- Andy Mangan - Striker

Overall I think these players will be vital if we want to go up this season. They all have their individual talents but I think they will work well as a team which will obviously help them progress, I can't wait for the season!
God I really want to do this challenge!
Griffo - It does look like a great challenge to be honest mate

Friendly Update

As you can see, we endured quite a tough pre-season. We haven't quite got our team ready yet and I felt that the teams that we had to pay were quite hard. Except Solihull Moors no disrespect even though we lost to them, the rest of the teams are league clubs so it was nice to test ourselves.

The first game we played WIgan Athletic, and even though that we lost I thought that we didn't play bad at all we has 9 shot and 51% possession so against a League 1 side that isn't bad at all. Second game we played Bradford City in this game we lost the midfield battle they had 57% possession to our 43%. We did have more shots though. Into our third game now and our first win, against Cardiff City they did have double the amount of shots we had but they were mainly from outside the box as we had more possession. Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Andy Mangan got the goals for us. Into our final pre-season game against Solihull Moors now and everything that was improved against Cardiff all went down hill against them. We had more possession but just couldn't take our chances and ultimately paid the price.

Fixtures

Hopefully we can get a few wins in these first few games, here's to a good season for Tranmere Rovers!
Stole a win against Cardiff by the sounds of it bud so nice work but it was a tough pre-season line up so hopefully the morale didn't take to much of a hit.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher will hopefully be terrific for you this season!

walkinshaw - The players seem to be fine with the pre-season mate, yeah I'm glad we did beat Cardiff because we must have some potential there! Thanks mate

Griffo - Despite his age, he's an amazing player for this league got high hopes :)

August 2015 - First Month Review

Tranmere Rovers had a decent start to life in the Vanarama Conference getting 13 points from a possible 21.

In the first match we played Woking, the team played superbly and come away with a 4-1 victory. Andy Mangan getting a brace helped us get the 3 points there, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and James Norwood sharing a goal apiece. In the second match we travelled to Gateshead, unfortunately we couldn't replicate the form we showed against Woking and came away from the game with a 1-3 defeat. James Norwood once again on the scoresheet for us We were then on the road again this time against Braintree Town we still wasn't at our best but we came away with the victory this time 1-0. Loan signing Hallam Hope getting his first goal for the club. Midway through the month now and in our fourth game came up against lowly placed FC Halifax Town I felt confident of getting a result here but instead we came away with a 0-1 loss thanks to a 90th minute winner from Shaun Tuton. Boreham Wood were our next opponents, a slightly improved performance but once again we didn't come away with a win, but this time a 1-1 draw. Cole Stockton getting our goal in the 81st minute. Into the penultimate game now, and we were due a win. This is exactly what we got against Altrincham a great performance see us run out 3-2 winners! Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Jake Kirby getting a brace for us to secure the win. Our final game saw us come up against Kidderminster Harriers, what a performance this was a 4-1 demolition over a team that was just outside the play-off places in 7th. 4 different scorers for us as Taylor-Fletcher, Hope, Norwood and Mangan all registered their name on the socresheet.

Player of The Month

- Andy Mangan

For me, Andy by far has to be given the title of 'Player of The Month' for August. He has 3 goals in 4 appearances (2 as a substitute) also has 3 assists, he has the highest match rating and rightly so deserves this award.

Vanarama National League Table

Despite our varied form in the league we sit pretty in in 5th which as you can see it's a play-off place! We can certainly be happy with that, with only being 2 points off the top spot. We just have to keep fighting! Let's hope for a good September :)
Great start!
Griffo - Thanks mate, hopefully I (John) can keep it up ;)

Transfer Window Slams Shut As Tranmere Bring In Five!

"So I've just completed my first month as Tranmere Rovers' manager. Although we didn't achieve as many points as I would have liked we sat 5th in the table, I am very happy with this we can now look to push on in the league and try to get as high as we can. The signings that I have brought in are all relatively young but could have great potential, there are quite a few on loan, which people will be a little bit sceptical but hopefully if we get promoted and a few good runs in the cups we might have a bigger budget next season to make some permanent offers for them."

Departures - The reason that I haven't listed any departures is that because there was no one who left the club! :)
