Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas has sent shockwaves around Goodison Park by stating his desire to leave Everton and play Champions League football with a new club.

Mirallas joined Everton in the summer of 2012 from Greek side Olympiacos for a fee of six million pounds and has been an ever present in the side since then. During his time on Merseyside, the Belgian winger has 29 goals in 85 Everton appearances. However, it now looks likely that Mirallas will move on during the summer transfer window after the winger publicly announced his desire to leave Everton in search of Champions League football.

In an interview with Goal.com, Mirallas said: "It's time for me to move on from Everton. Whilst I have enjoyed my time here on Merseyside, I feel that the time is right for me to be playing Champions League football. Unfortunately this is not something I can see myself doing at Everton so I owe it to myself and my career in football, to move on. I have informed Roberto Martinez of my decision and it is up to him whether I stay or go. I hope that Roberto makes the right decision and allows me to leave to further my career."

Everton and Roberto Martinez are yet to comment on the recent news but it is believed that Mirallas will not be allowed to leave Goodison Park for less than 15 million pounds.

Interested to see if a buyer emerges for Mirallas. Think your valuation is spot on too btw, that's the price tag I had in my head as well

Evertonfc.com can confirm that the club have rejected two multi million pound bids for England international left back Leighton Baines, from two seperate clubs.

According to Everton manager Roberto Martinez, England international left back Leighton Baines is not for sale at any price.

The bold statement from the Spaniard comes after Everton rejected a 25 million pound bid from Premier League reigning champions Chelsea and a 23.5 million pound bid from Italian giants Juventus. Both offers were rejected by Martinez, who was adamant that Baines would not be leaving Goodison Park this summer, regardless of what transfer fee was offered. Martinez also went on to say that he was looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new Barclays Premier League season, not weaken it.

"We've rejected two massive bids for Leighton Baines today and whilst I'm not surprised that clubs are after him, he's simply not for sale." said Martinez.

"Leighton Baines is an Everton player and it'll remain that way. He isn't for sale and won't be sold, that's my position on the matter. He's one of the best left backs in the Premier League, if not the world and I would quite frankly have to be crazy to even consider selling him. Leighton is happy here and we're very happy to have a player of Leighton's calibre at the club. The club don't need to sell our best players and we don't want to sell them. We are looking to strengthen not weaken" added the Everton boss.

Baines has one year left to run on his current Everton contract, which expires in 2016.

Ferguson confident ahead of season opener

Assistant manager Duncan Ferguson has revealed that both he and manager Roberto Martinez are confident that the blues are in a strong position going into the opening match against Stoke at the Brittania stadium on Monday night.

In a brief interview with Evertonfc.com, assistant manager Duncan Ferguson sat down and answered a few questions put to him by fans on social media site Twitter. Fans had been invited to ask questions using the hashtag #askbigdunc.

Andy Lewis: Duncan, the season's about to start, how do you feel your pre-season went?

Duncan Ferguson: I'm really happy with the way pre-season went. We picked up some fantastic results against some really good sides. Beating Standard Liege was a good result as was beating CSKA Moscow. CSKA Moscow are a Champions League side so to beat them 3-0 is fantastic. It shows that we could compete in the Champions League and our aim this season is to qualify for it.

Andy Lewis: The performances of Gerard Deulofeu have drawn attention, what impact do you feel he can have on the season?

Duncan Ferguson: Gerard Deulofeu was fantastic during the pre-season campaign. There is no doubt that Steven is a fantastic player, he reads the game superbly well and his work rate and flair drives the team forward. I'm really confident that Gerard can have a major impact throughout the course of the season.

Andy Lewis: Coming into the season what are the ambitions, where do you feel the club is hoping to finish?

Duncan Ferguson: As I've already alluded to, we are aiming for Champions League football. Everton football club has unfinished business in the Champions League after what happened in 2005. I was a player during that time and not qualifying for the Champions League hurt a lot. This season i want to qualify for the group stage automatically, i.e I want us to finish in the top 3. It's a massive ask for the players but I think we have what it takes to seriously give it a go.

Everton defensive midfielder James McCarthy has apologised to his teammates and fans after being sent off in Everton's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.

With the game between Crystal Palace and Everton at 1-0 in the 72nd minute, McCarthy was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for a mistimed challenge on Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye. Unfortunately for the Republic of Ireland international, an own goal from Everton skipper Phil Jagielka handed Crystal Palace a share of the spoils and a big lesson learnt for the midfielder.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the game, McCarthy said:

"I can't stress enough just how sorry I am for getting sent off. It was an incredibly stupid thing to do and I can see now that what I did has cost us two valuable points. To get booked twice in such a short space of time was completely unprofessional and I have to hold my hands up to that. I have to thank the lads for playing so well and saving my neck because I dread to think what would have happened if we had lost because of my stupid actions. I'm desperate to make it up to the players, manager and fans once I've served my ban."

England international left back Leighton Baines has committed his long term future to Everton, and signed a new four year deal, which will expire in 2019.

Baines, 30, had one season remaining on his previous deal before today signing a new four year contract at Goodison Park, keeping the left back at Everton until atleast July 2019. Last season Baines was an ever present in Roberto Martinez's Everton side, only missing seven games through injury. Everton manager Roberto Martinez spoke of his delight at England international Baines finally signing a new deal at the club.

"This is absolutely terrific news for us. When Chelsea and Juventus came in for Leighton earlier in the summer there was always a thought in the back of my mind that Leighton may leave so I'm glad that he has committed himself to the Everton cause. Leighton was easily one of Everton's best players last season and I hope next season will be no exception. He has been consistently one of the best left backs in the country for a number of years now."

Baines also outlined his delight at signing a new contract at Goodison Park. He said: "There was no question that I was going to sign a new deal. I was just waiting for it to be offered. I've heard all the talk linking me to a move away over the summer but I love it here and I'm not interested in a move away from Goodison Park. Being handed the honour of the vice captaincy has only heightened my desire to stay. Everton is a fantastic club and the Goodison Park atmosphere still gives me goosebumps every time."
