December Recap
20 December, 2015
The final month of 2015 was another rough one for the Red Devils as they would only win once in three games. The only positive came from the 3-2 victory over Glacis United where the club would win 3-2. In the other two matches against Angels and the Red Imps the Red Devils continued their slide and having trouble against bigger clubs. Manchester 62 finishes the 2015 part of season in sixth place.
Outside of the league matches the Gibraltar FA had the draw the Premier Cup. In the Premier Cup the Red Devils will be facing Gibraltar United on the 19th of January. The club is looking to have a better season in cup play this year.
Chairman John Charles Camilleri would like to make a special announcement. "As many of you all know we are struggling and due to this I find it highly unacceptable and manager Teemu Nieminen is at fault. I have put him on notice and he needs nine points in the next five matches in order to stay. I am at my last straw with him and something needs to be changed. I wanted everyone to know my feelings."
Everyone here at Manchester 62 would like to wish all of our fans and sponsors a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The club offices will be closed until 5 January.
Player of the Month:
Jeremy Lopez gets the player of the month once again. He was the brightest spot in a dismal month. In the three matches he scored two goals and made the most of his chances.
Managers Thoughts:
A song by Paramore, We are Broken is the perfect theme to this club right now. I can fully accept responsibility of my actions and I am the one to blame for this mess. Yes I am still very new to the management side of the sport but that is no excuse. To be honest I am under so much pressure that next month will be so important. I hope that 2016 is a much better year for the club and that we can go to Europe.
What to look forward to in January:
The new year begins with what could be Nieminen 's last few matches with the club if they don't have a positive month. All that is needed is three wins and it looks obtainable with the exception of the Europa FC match. January also starts the Premier Cup and the Draw for the Rock Cup so it should be an interesting month cup wise. It will be a busy month with six matches. Also the transfer window will be open during the month.
A tough couple of results after the victory.... hopefully it doesn't cost you your job!
Journal #1
04/01/2016
When its time to fill the void my whole life has been destroyed
And everyone around me says my time is running out
I refuse to surrender, I refuse to surrender
I wanted to start writing down my thoughts about my life from everything in my personal life and in my professional life as a manager. Starting this off in the new year was a great idea because of so many crazy things going on in my life. This upcoming month is going to be fucking intense as I will need all the positive vibes I can get.
First of I want to talk about something positive that happened on Christmas. I had returned home to Kuopio to visit my friends and family for the holliday and it was really good as I needed to take some time off and relax. The last few weeks have been really stressful and I needed to just chill a little. So as you know my girlfriend Alexandra and I have been together for a few years now. I am happy she has stuck with me all this time and has been a major help in this difficult time. While on Christmas we got engaged.
Now on to the most important part of it all, January. This is a very critical month. i need to gain nine points in the next five matches and if I don't then I get fired. Well there was something very positive. On the second we faced Europa FC and were expected to get hammered. Well thankfully we got so lucky and drew. Earlier in the season I was able to get Spanish striker Thomas Lucena a transfer to the club. He is rated as one of the best players in the country. Well we had to wait until the window opened. It was worth the wait and he scored on his debut giving us a draw against Europa. Big things are happening.
Dear John Charles Camilleri, you say my time is running out but I will not surrender. Watch out as I am turning this club around!!! You will never fire me.
Great update mate in the journal entry and really nice choice of song!
January Recap
31 January, 2016
It was a great start of the new year for the Red Devils as they had their most successful month under manager Teemu Nieminen by not losing a single league match and moving up to third place in the table. For now Teemu's job is safe and the board are very delighted with the turn around.
In league play month began with a major clash against Europa FC with a 1-1 draw. That was the first sign that January was going to be good. Later on the Red Devils would win against Lynx and Britannica by the scores of 4-1 and 1-0. Finally as the away side Manchester 62 would defeat Gibraltar Utd by a 1-0 scoreline.
In cup play Manchester 62 was feature in the Premier Cup. Although it is not an important competition Nieminen's men made a good showing out of it by advancing to the semi finals. Sadly it was the end of the competition after a 1-2 loss against Lynx.
Transfers:
January was also the winter transfer window. With not much going on Manchester 62 added three players and two have already made an instant impact players that have made an impact right away. Here were the moves that were made.
IN:
Thomas Lucena- Mons Calpe, €475
Abdellah EL Yeteftti- Gibraltar Utd, €475
Bryan Espinosa- Gibraltar Utd, €26.5K
OUT:
Chuky-Magpies, LOAN
Player of the Month:
There is no clear winner of player of the of the as the whole team contributed to what was the best month all season long. Each player did what was asked and executed at the best of their abilities. Due to this and getting the club to a much better position everyone one on the first team is the player of the month.
Managers Thoughts:
This was a great month and it was needed, I am no longer in the doghouse and it seems like the management team is no longer mad. Well I think things changed when Thomas Lucena joined up. He has a lot of talent and has honestly made this club much stronger with attacking. I think we can continue this momentum for the rest of the season and hopefully Europe is coming.
What to look forward to in February:
February looks to be a challenging month with a return of facing clubs such as Angels and Europa FC. Lions and Glacis Utd are the other clubs that we will be facing. The other major event is the Rock Cup Second Round. We were drawn against Angels earlier this month and look to finally beat them in the cup. That match is set for 10 February.
big difference btw 2nd place and you.. and a pretty good month too
Manchester 62 advance in the Rock Cup

In what has been a much improved season for Teemu Nieminen and his Red Devils, things got even sweeter yesterday evening when facing Angels in the Rock Cup Second Round. Could this match be the beginning of a rivalry??? If so what should it be called, the battle of good and evil??
Previously in the last two meetings Angels have dominated Manchester 62 by a score of 3-1. This has been very concerning for the 62 board as Angles were promoted at the end of the last season and losing to them has been quite embarrassing. While the tables turned and the Red Devils would win by a 3-0 scoreline.
The 687 spectators who came to Victoria Stadium saw Yogen Santos blast the Red Devils into a 15-minute lead with his second goal of the season. Angels resisted stoutly but quality prevailed before the break and Ivan Ruiz scored a beautiful goal in the 39th-minute. January signing Bryan Espinosa would score his first goal for Manchester 62 in the 62nd-minute.
With that victory the Red Devils now advance to the quarter final where they will face either Glacis United or the Gibraltar Phoenix. The date and time has not been announced yet.
And now you're gonna believe us, and now you're gonna believe us, and now you're gonna believe us, we're gonna win the cup!
February Recap
1 March, 2016
February saw the Red Devils continue to dominate the league in all matches. Currently in third place the club is looking to find a way to climb to second. At this point in time with a few months to go it is not likely but anything is possible.
Starting off the month against St. Joe's the Red Devils would continue their streak of games won all the way until the end of the month losing to league leaders Europa FC. Since 2016 Manchester 62 has not lost to Angels with two victories over them this month. The first being in the Rock Cup and the second a 1-0 victory in the final meeting of the Premier League for the season. Other results include a scoreless draw with Lions and 3-1 victory over Glacis Utd.
Player of the Month:
John-Paul Duarte's name is mentioned again for the second time this season. He was the most productive player scoring the most goals this month with two.
Managers Thoughts:
I am honestly not upset over the loss as we were so close and Europa is such a better team. I think having that loss was no big deal because things have been much better this second half of the season and I think we pretty much have locked up third place. The team once again was the reason for such a good month. I finally feel that they are now set in the way of my tactics and are playing much better than when this all started.
What to look forward to in March:
March is set to be a very short month with three league matches and the Rock Cup match against Glacis Utd. The Red Devils are looking to continue this run of good luck against second place Lincoln Red Imps on an important matchday 21.
Definitely seem to be coming good mate, whether its too late to challenge at the very top remains to be seen. A win in matchday 21 would set the cat amongst the pigeons! Good luck!
