Now that's one way to kick off the season!
October Recap
1 November, 2016
The second month of the 2016 season was really good for the Red Devils as they took in three wins and only one loss. Man 62 is now in third place after five matches with 12 points, one behind leaders Europa and Lincoln. It seems as if all the new talent has gelled quicker than what the club experenced at this time of the season.
The month began with a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Leo FC. Following that on matchday three we would face off against rivals Angels. In this match the Red Devils would barely get by with a 2-1 victory. It was all in part of Antonis Efthymakis' stellar goalkeeping. Match day four saw Man 62 lose on a heart breaker against Lincoln Red Imps, this match an error gave the opposing team a chance to score with a few seconds remaining before the match ended. Finally the Red Devils redeamed themselves against St. Joe's in a 3-0 blowout
Player of the Month:
Despite allowing three goals during the month goalkeeper Antonis Efthymakis was by far one of the best players during the month of October. During the matches against Leo FC and St. Joe's he would record two shutouts. It was his match against Angels that really turned heads. His amazing play and skill prevented our rivals from scoring several times during the 90.
Managers Thoughts:
There is really nothing to be upset about even with that heartbreaking loss to Lincoln we can be proud of how we played. Football can be cruel at times and that goal in the 90' is one example of how unforgiving the sport is. Other than that I like that we are only a point from the league leaders and hopefully next month we can get on top. The way this team is playing makes me very happy.
What to look forward to in November:
With three matches the next month will be over before you know it. The Gibraltar FA has awarded the club two home matches during this month, 5 Nov against newly promoted Gib Phoenix and 26 Nov against Lions. The other match in the month has Lynx playing host to the Red Devils on 19 November.
