PART 2- CATCH-UP

So this is the catch-up. You'll find my transfer dealings on the previous page, this post is an overview of the 2017/18 season.

The 2017/18 season went far better than I could have imagined. At the start of the season, I was harbouring ambitions of a solid top half finish- 7th/8th territory. So imagine the sheer delight when we beat continental qualification rivals Liverpool on the last day of the season to finish in 3rd. Highlights included doubles over Liverpool (5-2 -no word of a lie- away, 1-0 at home) and Man United (4-0 at home, 1-0 away). This meant we automatically qualified for the group stage proper of the 2018/19 Champions League.

Lewis Cook- now the captain- again played a brilliant season for us, he just keeps getting better and better. Lewis Holtby- signed for £8.25m from Hamburg in January- made a blinding start to his Leeds United career, and his impressive performances led to him being named Fans' Player of the Year. Chuba Akpom narrowly missed out on the Premier League Golden Boot, finishing 2nd behind Harry Kane. Particularly pleasing were Hidde Ter Avest- right back signed from Ajax for £11m- and Nathan Ake- left-back signed from Chelsea for £15m- who were both signed on summer Deadline Day. Their dominating performances at wing-back made a large contribution both to our threat going forward and our solidity at the back.

So that concludes my recap and catch-up. If anyone has any questions about the past three seasons, ask away. Otherwise, the story shall continue with the start of the 2018/19 season, and a new adventure in the Champions League
What a season that looks like! Good luck in the Champions League mate!
Cheers mate, should be fun!

IN OTHER NEWS

Leeds United unveil new kits

It's that time of year again and the new kits for the 2018/19 season have been unveiled. The club's kit sponsor remains as 32Red- the club are in the last season of its sponsorship with the online casino- whilst the kits are once again made by Umbro, whom the club are also in the last year with.

The home shirt is the traditional white. The twist this year is that there are yellow pinstripes and a blue trim. Comparisons have already been drawn to the 1982 home strip- coincidentally also made by Umbro- when the club was relegated to the Second Division. That kit was remembered more for being one of the club's most aesthetically pleasing kits rather than for the relegation and it seems as though this shirt will be remembered for being similarly good looking.

The away kit sees a return to the traditional yellow strip. The blue trim on the kit makes it reminiscent of the away kit of the 2009/10 season, when the club won promotion to the Championship. This season's strip is comparably more plain, something that will be good news for traditionalists everywhere.

Leeds face rivals in cup tie

Leeds United have been drawn against fierce rivals Manchester United in the third round of the Capital One Cup. Leeds were knocked out at this stage last season in surprise fashion by Bournemouth.

Champions League group stage drawn

The qualifying stages are over and the group stage of the Champions League has now been drawn. Leeds have been given a relatively manageable group, but they will still have to be at their best to overcome the other teams in their group. They've been drawn with Swiss champions Basel, German outfit Bayer Leverkusen and Portugal's Benfica
