Micky Mellon has been named as National League manager of the month for August after Tranmere won all 7 matches in the month.
The opening month of the 2016-17 season has been a successful one for Rovers, with seven victories from the opening seven fixtures.
Mellon has led his team to wins over Bromley, Barrow, Eastleigh, Boreham Wood, Maidstone United, Southport and Guiseley making it 21 points from a possible 21.
That early season form has placed Rovers four points clear at the top of the National League standings and Mellon is delighted with the start his team has made.
He said: “It’s a good start but we’re not getting carried away. There’s a long way to go but hopefully we can continue the good form. It’s always nice to receive recognition for the hard work we are putting in. It’s not just myself but the players and the staff, we’re all working incredibly hard and it’s reaping reward on the pitch."
“I’d like to thank the National League for the award. I’ve been fortunate to have won a few Manager of the Month awards in the past and it would be nice to win a few more before the end of the season.”

Indeed and still top. Thanks for the comment. Much appreciated
Tranmere manager Micky Mellon was disappointed after watching his side surrender a two goal lead at Aldershot.
Tranmere took the lead in the first half through Andy Cook and another goal by James Norwood followed soon after. It looked like Tranmere were cruising to an 8th straight win but two goals from Accrington loanee Max Hazeldine salvaged a point for the home side.
The boss spoke of his disappointment after the game:
"I'm obviously really disappointed with the result and how it came about. There's no excuses for it, we simply went to sleep at the back and at this standard it will be punished. All credit to Aldershot, they never gave up hope but we definitely gifted them the point."
"It's important that we respond well next week against Lincoln. We know that it's not going to be an easy game and that we'll need to be at our best to win. Fingers crossed we can learn a lesson from this result and see out games in future."
Tranmere stunned Lincoln at Prenton Park, coming from a goal down with a minute to go, to win by two goals to one.

You're side has been doing well so from where I'm stood youve got every reason to be frustrated by a draw!

Hopefully we can bounce back with a win
Tranmere striker James Norwood gave an interview with Tranmere player after the home side's remarkable comeback at home to Lincoln.
In an interview with Tranmere player, Norwood said:
"I really enjoyed that. It's games like that which make playing football worthwhile. The feeling I got when the ball hit the back of the net was one of the greatest I've ever experienced. To come from a goal down with a minute to go and win 2-1 is absolutely incredible."
"After what happened at Aldershot, it was important that we bounced back in the right way. We were all disappointed in the way we let that game slip so we really wanted to win this one. In a way, we kind of copied the spirit Aldershot showed last week with their last minute equaliser against us."
"I think a lot of credit has to go to Taylor Tombides. Taylor had an absolutely brilliant game and deserved more than just his goal. He's a massive talent and it's good to have him here at the club. There's plenty more to come from him yet, that's for sure."
Goals from Andy Cook, Adam Mekki and Taylor Tombides saw National League leaders Tranmere come away with a 3-1 victory away at York.
