Tranmere Rovers have brought in and sold a player on the same day with Ritchie Sutton leaving and Adam Buxton coming in.

Versatile defender Ritchie Sutton has joined namesake club Sutton Utd for a fee of two and a half thousand pounds. Sutton joined the club in 2015 and made 27 appearances for Rovers, scoring once. Last season, Sutton had a loan spell at fellow National League side Barrow where he made 10 appearances.

Coming into Prenton Park is former Portsmouth defender Adam Buxton who has signed a permanent deal until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old, who can play anywhere across the defence, joined the Fratton Park outfit at the beginning of the season after leaving Accrington Stanley. Having come through the ranks at Wigan Athletic, Buxton initially joined Stanley on loan at the end of the 2013-14 season.

Mellon said of the signing: "I’m delighted to be able to bring Adam to the Club. He is a player we have watched closely. He is a strong defender who will add to our options at this important stage of the season. He’s only 24 years of age but he has good experience in the Football League which I think will add to what we already have at the Club.”

Tranmere manager Micky Mellon cut a proud figure as he discussed his sides 3-2 FA Cup 1st round replay win over League One Coventry.

After drawing the original tie at the Ricoh Arena, Tranmere went into the FA Cup 1st round replay against Coventry as massive underdogs. It looked as if Tranmere's FA Cup journey was over when Jack McBean scored but Andy Cook and Taylor Tombides made it 2-1. Sordell equalised for Coventry before Tranmere skipper Steve Jennings popped up with a late winner.

Rovers boss Micky Mellon was understandably delighted after his side secured a FA Cup 2nd round tie with Southend.

"I am over the moon with that result. Noone gave us a hope going into that game but we showed everyone just how far we've come. That game was like a throwback to the John Aldridge days when I was a player and I hope there's more of that to come in the next round. What a fantastic result."

I've been doing a table at the end of each month so it's not far away.
You are going to make Tranmere a force to be reckoned with once you get to the Premier League. I hope you get the easiest Brexit but if you get the hard one I know you will do amazing!
