My objectives for this save are to get the blades out of a miserable 6 years in the third division and get them challenging for the premier league title. I had a hard start to the save with a consistent results. I wanted to replicate what Chris wilder was using in real life but wasn't able to accomplice this. So I decided to go for 3 defenders, box to box, deep lying play maker, defensive winger and a winger in midfield, attacking midfielder and two attackers. This seemed to work as I went on a unbeaten run from September all the way to the end of December. This took me from 12th place in the table to top of the league. With the transfer window just about to open I have 1.8million to spend but only want to make minor changes with young prospects, that can fit in and develop to be good championship players.
Kieron Freeman has now been sold for £500,000 plus ad-dons With a buy back clause of £950,000 to rangers. Manager Ryan Glossop said "I didnt want this transfer to go through without having a sufficient replacement but Kieron wanted to move to bigger and better things. I hope him the best in the future and I am trying to make the loan signing of Joe Riley permanent as he a top winger". This leaves the blades with only two players good enough to play in that position with John Brayford returning to the blades in the summer after a season long loan at championship club Burton Albion. Blades boss says they have sufficient funds to make changes to the squad throughout January and hope to make a couple of signings before the end of the window. Young midfielder Louis Reed is being targeted by Swansea and Sunderland as the black cats boss David Moyes has been seen attending numerous matches where Reed has appeared. According to Glossop "At this point in time no formal bid has been made for Reed although interest has been high and expect a move to be made soon". The Blades last game saw them exit the Checkertrade Trophy to Chesterfield and means that it was Sheffield United first loss in 3 months. This is what the blades boss had to say "Of course I was disappointed with the loss, but it wasn't our top priority, that's the league but it brought a bit of money in and with us still in the F.A cup we can look forward to an exciting tie against Sheffield Wednesday. It will be a special occasion for the fans and we look to make an upset and progress to the next round". Sheffield United sit top of the table going into the new year they haven't seen a season like this since 2011/12 where Wednesday pipped them to second spot and the Ched Evans saga was around.
The transfer window has now shut and only 1 player has been confirmed to be joining the blades in the summer and that is George Saville from Wolves for a reported £200,000. This could prove to be a bargain buy to what seems to be a team heading into the championship. With two defeats in January one losing to bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday but the blades lost 2-1 in a game that looked to be harsh defeat for Glossop. The other defeat saw Glossop's side exit the Checkertrade trophy to the Hands of Everton U'23s. Players such as Arouna Kone and Aaron Lennon were playing and this is what Glossop had to say "This used to be a competition where the lower teams of the professional game had a chance at a trophy but now that premier league reserves can play in it, it has made the competition a lot harder as players such as Lennon are premier league caliber players playing against my weakened side." Other than them two cup exits in January it was five wins out of five in the league and saw the blades widen the gap at the top of the table. They are now nine points clear and Billy Sharp has now claimed top goal scorer. The blades are now in a comafortable position in the league and now is the only competition they are in, will now solidify that top spot.
Through the transfer window there are a lot of transfer rumors some of true but a lot have some false information in them. Although many managers don't like to disclose there failed attempts to lure players their club Glossop is happy to disclose this information. "Of course I tried to sign more players, I tried to sign Riley permanently but Man United wanted more than I was willing to pay. Another player Wallace Oliveria from Chelsea was another target of mine but they were adamant to sell him. The most notable player that was close but contract talks broke down was Jay O'Shea I wanted to sign him at the end of the season to try and get him on a cheaper deal but Jay unfortunately wasn't able to accept my terms. In the summer if he is out of contract I will attempt to sign him if he carries on performing at the high standard he is at the minute."

It is obvious that the blades are building on the future with Jed Wallace joining them in the summer and Reed slowly getting more games as he looks better with every minute he plays, no wonder the big boys are circling him like a vulture. Although this season is going well for the blades some of the players looked doomed to be leaving in the summer. Players such as Marc Mcnulty who hasn't featured much if not at all, other players include James Wilson.
Now that the blades are out of all the cup competitions Blades boss Glossop wants to make top spot in the league and gain the 100 point mark which will see a incredible end to a miserable 6 years in the third tier. He doesn't disrespect any teams as they are strong and have recently been letting more goals than Simon Moore has been used to. John Fleck hasn't had the best of months being sent off twice both being two yellow cards. We all know he has a reputation for not being the most disciplined and we all know he likes to get his payback. Bramall Lane seems to have a massive buzz around it at the minute with "Fat lad from Sheffield" the leading goal scorer in the league both chants of "greasy chip butty" and "We're Top of the league" ringing in your ears every time you exit the ground. It's one of the best atmospheres around at the minute with the best fans in the league taking thousands upon thousands of fans to the likes of Bolton and Charlton.

If you think that the blades will slip up then you must think again since glossop has changed to a 3-4-1-2 formation Glossop's side has only lost 1 game in the league in the last four months. They are really unstoppable at the minute as there style of play allows them to score and carry on digging at the other team. It also allow the opposition to score as the attacking style of play that the blades have allows gaps behind the defense but with the attack with the likes of Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke and Caelon Lavery is unstoppable with the creative players like Mark Duffy, John fleck and Paul Coutts behind them they have countless chances to score multiple goals each and every match.

This season has been a complete turn around from last seasons mid table finish with an underachieving team. With the team now performing at the levels that fans are enjoying with the style of play that is a pleasure to watch, then I am sure the fans would love to see this for many years to come.

Owners of the Sheffield based club want them to be in the top flight in the next 7 seasons and if they carry on with the bargains and how they are playing then they are going the right way about it.
Since the blades are doing so well in the first team, I’d thought I would talk about the recent academy trials. One player that could be a star in the future is Neil Greenwood, has 20 determination and 14 flair. He is one of the biggest name to come through the academy in recent years. The difference though is that he is an attacking player. Other stand out players were Peter Vernon and Terry Jackson. Vernon is an all-round midfielder who can play pretty much anywhere in the middle of the park. Jackson on the other hand is a very much promising goalkeeper who has a bright future ahead of him.

Of course, a lot more teens joined the ranks of a highly-regarded Sheffield united academy who brought the likes of Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka and Harry Maguire in recent years.
You can’t look through the fact the first team has been through so many highs this season compared to last season’s dismal mid table season. There have been many changes this season on and off the field. Billy Sharp and Jay O’Shea has contributed to 55 goals this season. This is one of the best partnerships in the country at the minute.
So the start of the 2017/18 season has started. A decent start for the blades in the championship. With the first game of the season being at Bramall Lane against Brighton. That game was the first defeat for the red and white wizards. Glossop made some significant signings in the summer. With Jay O'shea and Joe Riley making there moves permanently after their contracts at their parent clubs had expired. Other signings such as a duo signing from FC Barcelona with goalkeeper Adrián Ortolà and defender Borja joining the blades for a cheap deal and Kadeem Harris had joined after his contract at Cardiff had expired and the final signing that the blades had made was transfer listed Kyle Dempsey from Huddersfield. After 9 league games the blades sit in a very respectable 7th place with wins against Cardiff, Brentford and Stoke. With the most noteable being a 3-0 wing against bitter rivals Sheffield Wednesday. At 3-0 down at half time you would basically write any team off at that point, but not for the blades they managed to bring it back to a 4-4 draw against Fulham.
After 18 games have been played in the championship, the blades find themselves in 8th place. They are now on a run of 3 defeats in 14 games which is really impressive for a team that have just been promoted. Injuries did hit the blades in the middle of this run with Coutts now out of action for 4 - 5 months, FLeck being out for 3 weeks and Jack O'connell just coming back from injury after 2 weeks out. Sharp has now taken over Clarke as the clubs top scorer with 8 goals to Clarkes 7. Riley is one of the competitions top assisted players. He also won player of the month for October.

Transfer news:
The blades have announced their interest for Wilfred Kaptoum who belongs to Barcelona but is currently out on loan at Anderlecht, It is reported that Glossop is also interested in a number of other players that include Wellington Lucas from the Portuguese league and 17 year old Norwegian winger Mathias Skogvold who is a very much talented player.

We also see that Glossop loves a cheap deal and to play prominently young players and developing them. With Neil Greenwood being the best example so far, he made his entrance last season with 5 appearences, 2 goals and 1 assist in that time. So far this term he has made just 1 appearence.
So it's the end of the transfer window and the blades are currently on a terrible run. Since the fantastic 3-2 win over city rivals Wednesday they have lost 5 games in a row with one of them being in the FA cup. This leaves them in a very average position of 14th, but are 10 points off the relegation zone and 11 points off the play-offs. In January we saw both in comings and outgoings, Scougall leaving on a free and Kadeem Harris leaving on loan to championship rivals Barnsley. We also saw Wellington Lucas sign for the blades but went immediately go back on loan to Vitória de Guimarães. The 21 year old joined for a fee of £60,000 which seems a bargain for the young Portuguese. The only other player to join the blades is a loan signing from Reading 23 year old Aaron Tshibola. Tshibola is an established championship player. He has already made a good player in mediocre overall performances.

The next game for the blades is against Wolves, which while pressure is building on Glossop, he is adament that his 3-4-1-2 formation will help him again soon.
Sheffield United seemed to have turned their luck around! They have gone on to 5 wins in the last 8 games with two of them being draws, that has brought the Sheffield based club to be in 10th place. They have also opened a gap from the relegation zone to 22 points which has surely sealed the blades at least a championship place for next season. With 18 points left to play for the blades will have to make up four points and four places to creep into the championship play-offs. It all started with a 0-0 draw against 4th place Wolves. It seemed a good result for the blades and the next game saw an emphatic win against run away leaders Reading. Lavery opened the scoring in the 75th minute with a goal from 11 yards. It looked to be a draw when McCleary scored in the 85th minnuted but Kyle Dempsey raised the roof at Bramall Lane in the 89th minute which saw a long overdue win. Wins against Peterborough, Middlesborough and QPR followed and finally saw Billy Sharp solid ate his place as 4th highest goalscorer in the league.

We saw 2018's academy trials take place with players from all over the country competing for a place in the highly regarded Shirecliffe academy. With right winger Craig Lewis being the stand out player this season, he is a tricky winger who doesn't possess much pace but has a lot of flair he also has a high work rate. Other players that stood out were Dave Farrell and Alex Harban. Farrell is a central midfielder who possess' a high ability to find the right pass and has a lot of natural fitness and has a bright future ahead of him. Harban is also a central midfielder but he has a lot more vision that Farrell does and has more flair so this could see the return of former blade Jose Baxter, but lats hope that Farrell can find more consistant form and stay off the white powder.

The blades next fixture is against 3rd place Aston Villa at villa park so I'm sure fans will be more than happy with a draw. But with recent form I wouldn;t be surprised if the blades could nick this one.
The blades suffered a dire end to a season 4 losses out of the last 5 games. They have endured 3 or 4 spells of the same form. This meant that the blades ended in a respectable 14th place, which is a successful season for the blades first in the championship. Billy Sharp has a very memorable season scoring 26 goals in the league making him the second top goal scorer in the league. Blades have let go of 16 players with Wellington Lucas going out on loan back to Portugal, Matt Done has joined the Bradford City for £425k and Borja has unfortunately left after only one year at United. He left bacause he felt that his promises weren't kept and had left to join Sporting Gijon for £400k. Nabil Bahoui has joined on a free after his contract ended at Hamburg. Conor Coady had rejoined the blades after a couple of years away he has grown into a comfortable championship, he is a likely replacement for Tshibola. Philipp Hofmann has also joined the blades to gain first team football, although Hambo has put a big argument on why he is good enough for the that spot.
Blades set to be at home for the first game and the last game of the season with the first being against Derby County and the last being against Rotherham United. What ever you think of the blades you can't deny that Glossop has done a good job there so far by bringing in the youth and players who are ready to step right in. He is loaning out every promising player that can one day make it into the first team.
The summer transfer window has come and gone and there were a few surprise transfers that boss Glossop said "If you was to tell me some of the transfers that have taken place in this window than I would honestly be shocked".

First for the outgoing transfers. Neil Greenwood, Regan Slater and David Brooks have all left on loan to develop and gain first team experience. With Greenwood joining league 2 Wrexham, Slater joining league 1 Walsall and Brooks joinng league 2 Tranmere until the end of the season. George Saville has also gone out on loan after wanting to seek more first team football. He has joined Scottish side Aberdeen until next summer with a chance of a full time signing. Another player that has left on loan is Kadeem Harris. The winger who has endured a strange time at Sheffield United has joined MK Dons until the end of the season. He is allowed to playing the cup competition but isn't allowed to play his parent club. Now for the transfer shock of the Window, target man Vahid Hambo has joined Spanish side Osasuna for a fee of £2.4m which could rise up to £3.4m. They only signed him on deadline day so the blades were unable to find a replacement but with Hoffman and Clarke already at the club they should be fine.

There have been two new loan signings since Hoffman has joined with one being Matt Miazga from premier league side Chelsea. He is a central defender who looks to be a very good signing for the blades. Greek player Charis Mavrias has joined until the end of the season from german side Karlsruher. They look to be an important role in the blades second campaign in the championship.

The first nine games of the season have been played and Sheffield United have made a good start by have 5 wins and 4 losses under their belt. On the opening day of the season they were beaten 1-0 by Wolves. In my opinion it was a very even game but Wolves took one of their chances which gave them the win. The next game was a 4-0 emphatic win against Brentford and the blades were on hot form that day. Unfortunately the next game they manged to lose even though they scored 4 goals losing 5-4 to Sunderland at half the blades were winning 3-2 but the strong side had experienced players from the premier league in their side. Next up was a cold Saturday afternoon away at Stoke city where the blades shocked all of Stoke by winning comfortably 3-1.The next game was a hard thought 1-0 win against Middlesborough and then a 3-0 win against Notts Forest. A 1-0 defeat followed which was against the run of play and United should have won that game. Their luck didn't follow them to Hull either losing 5-2. But finally were back to winning ways with a win over Cardiff. This leaves the Blades 5th in the league and Glossop thinks that they can stay there.
At the beginning of November, the blades look to be in a stronger position than ever. Since the Cardiff game they have lost 3 games in 8. The next game was against Birmingham city. By half time city were 2-0 up and looking very comfortable. Just before the break former blade Che Adams didn’t do them any favours when he doubled their lead. The team that made his name known weren’t happy. Glossop was heard shouting in the dressing room but the team talk wasn’t enough to get them back in the game. Hoffman got a consolation goal in the 70th minute. Birmingham were awarded a penalty after Wilson tripped him in the box. Fabbrini stepped up but missed. In the 90th minute Coady picked up a groin injury that would side-line him for a month. The game finished 2-1 but looked even on paper.

The next game was a complete change from United as they played at home against Fulham. With several changes taking place we were looking at a slightly younger side. This looked to be working as in the 15th minute Fleck scored from the edge of the area with a bottom left finish. In the 18th minute it got even better when Mavrias made it 2-0 with a goal from a tight angle. The two goal cushion was short lives as 1 minute later Fulham brought one back with a tidy finish from Floyd Ayite. Mavriass was on hot form today as he put the blades 3-1 ahead with a silhouette of his first goal in the 24th minute. This wasn’t even over as in the 37th minute Fulham again put another goal in this time by Rudy Gestede. At half time all the fans we shocked at how the game was turning out two good teams having a go at each other. Just after the break Lavery scored a header after Carruthers crossed it in it was a special header from 7 yards out looping into the top left corner. The full time whistle blew and the blades won and it looked like they deserved it. Bahoui had a very productive game assisting the second goal but man of the match went to Samir Carruthers for getting two assists.
The next game was a different story though. Away at local rivals Barnsley and on sky it looked to be the perfect the stage. It wasn’t to be for the blades. At half time, it was 3-0 to the tykes. It didn’t get much better as just after the break Louis Reed was the unfortunate player to put it in his own net. Sheffield United pulled one back after Samir Carruthers slotted one home with a simple finish. 15 minutes later it was 5-1 and looking a day to forget for the blades. There was a consolation goal from Leon Clarke in the 80th minute but it was a sad day for the red and white wizards. The game finished 5-2 to Barnsley and this inconsistent form didn’t look to be changing.
The next game wasn’t going to be any easier with Southampton playing at Bramall Lane. The south coast side were relegated from the premier league last season and still had the likes of Jordy Classie and Vincent Janson in their team. Former Southampton player Billy Sharp didn’t show any remorse when he scored a volley from 5 yards out in the 8th minute. This would put the blades the top goal scorers in the league and looks to stay that way. In the 19th minute a goal came from an unlikely source, centre back Joe Gomez, who stayed up after a corner and hit one home with a bottom corner finish. Things went from good to bad very quickly for the blades after Gomez scored again on the brink of half time to put Southampton 2-1 up. The blades looked the better team but weren’t taking their chances but Jack O’connell leaped up for a header to equalise for the blades and just so happened to be the last goal in the game. This was the first draw the blades recorded in the league and was a very good one against strong opposition.
The next three games were all wins with a hat trick for Dempsey helping the blades win 4-1 against MK Dons, Riley and Hoffman chipping in to beat bitter rivals Leeds and another Dempsey goal to beat Wigan 1-0. This run was soon to end though when they next played city rivals Wednesday. The game finished 3-2 but the blades should have done a lot better. They didn’t look like they were up for the game with Wednesday being in the relegation zone they were fighting for it. This would leave the blades 3rd in the league but will need to push on and get results in order to stay there.
In January Glossop made two signings Former Manchester United forward Will Kean for £300k and Tyias Browning for £400k. This also see Danny Lafferty and Chris Basham both leaving to the MLS, to Dallas and San Jose Earthquakes respectively.
After a good start to the league it all seemed to go downhill from there with the blades having very unpredictable performances and them five defeats in a row back a year later. This led the blades to a 12th place finish. 1 point better than the previous season. But also saw United scored 89 goals in the league ranking them top scorers in the league.
