Sources close to Mikael Lustig have told Sky Sports that the Swedish International is attracting strong attention from down south.

The Cherries are currently in 9th place in the English Premier League and are in need of a quality defender.

"I really feel Mikael is a top player and would love to have him on our side, he has been impressive for Celtic and would no doubt be an asset here for us in Bournemouth.- Eddie Howe, Manager of Bournemouth.

Since joining from Rosenborg in 2011 Lustig has been a key piece to Celtics five straight Premiership titles. The 29 year old has made 89 appearances and scored 9 goals.

Manage Brendan Rodgers was asked about the speculation in a recent press conference, this is what he had to say, "I am not surprised that Bournemouth are looking at him as he is a great player, I want to keep Mikael but it is totally up to him if he wants to make the move south or not."

If Lustig is to be sold Bournemouth will have to pay between £2.5- £6M.

Celtic are on the other hand in search of a goalkeeper for a Summer 2017 transfer.

He's the caliber of player which Premier League clubs will be headhunting, unfortunately for Celtic. If you can keep hold of him, it would be a major success for the team. If he is sold on, I'm sure the club would be reimbursed a fair amount!

Lustig is a very good player so it will be a challenge to keep hold of him. Obviously Celtic can promise Champions League football, however Bournemouth play in a much more challenging league, so it's a tough choice. Hopefully he stays.

Justice I am starting to look for a replacement just in case. I should get a pretty decent transfer price if I do sell him.

CELTIC’S impressive form this season under Brendan Rodgers has been beneficial to everyone at the club including midfielder Stuart Armstrong.

Manager Brendan Rodgers is delighted to announce that Stuart Armstrong has signed a contract extension which will see him remain at the club until at least May 2019.

The 24-year-old Scottish international joined the club during the winter 2015 transfer window following a spell with Dundee United, along with teammate and best friend Gary-Mackay-Steven, and he has gone to become an integral part of the team’s success over the past season.

Armstrong scored on his Celtic debut in a 3–0 league victory at Partick Thistle on 11 February 2015. He gave Celtic a 2–0 lead after fellow debutante Gary Mackay-Steven opened the scoring. Armstrong made his Celtic Park and European debut in a 3–3 draw with Inter Milan in the UEFA Europa League on 19 February 2015.

To this date Armstrong has made 52 appearances and scored ten goals in the Premiership. He has several trophies including the last two Premiership titles and two Scottish League Cups.

While he has played the majority of his games for club and country in the central midfield, Stuart has also shown himself to be equally adept playing in a attacking central midfield role where his experience has proved beneficial to the team, and will continue to do so in the future.

Stuart told Celtic TV: "I am very pleased to sign this extension with Celtic and Brendan has a lot of goals for this club and I want to be part of it as something special is starting to happen."

Catch Stu and the Bhoys in action tomorrow night as Celtic take on Olympiacos in the final match of the group stage. Kickoff is set for 5:45 GMT from the Georgios Karaiskakis. The match will be played on Celtic TV and the pregame show starts an hour before the match.

Celtic clinched a place in the knock-out phase of the Champions League in a dramatic draw with Olympiacos

For Celtic this match was of the most importance, win and advance or draw and pray.

Leigh Griffiths pounced on a defensive error to give Celtic the upper hand, but Mario Vrushaj equalised just as time was expiring.

Early on Mackay-Steven had to be substituted due to an injury. Luckily it was nothing serious and will be out a day or two.


Celtic were lucky on this night as Olympiacos proved to be a difficult opponent once again in the second draw against them in the tournament.

Porto who Celtic beat twice had the upper hand against Leicester City all night giving the Glasgow side added pressure. If Celtic had lost this match Porto would have moved on to the knockout round and Celtic would move down to the Europa League.

"We were getting updates on the Porto-Leicester match and were honestly nervous, it got to a point that they (Olympiacos) could have beaten us, we were very lucky to have the two game advantage over Porto and advance."-Brendan Rodgers


Celtic now await who they will be facing in the knockout round. The draw for that is set for a 12 December draw from Monaco. This is the first time that Celtic have advanced to this round since the 2012-13 season when they had the historic victory over Barcelona in November.

The road to Cardiff is still on as this current team looks to repeat the history of the Lisbon Lions from 50 years ago.

CELTIC are proud to announce that Paris Saint-Germain have been drawn as our opponent in the Round of 16 in the Champions League.

The two sides will face each other for the first time in history, it is expected to be a wild match as Moussa Dembele gets a chance at proving PSG that they made a mistake letting him go.

Brendan Rodgers said: "This is going to be an interesting match up and PSG are a great side but if we work hard we might be able to pull off the upset, I know Moussa is excited to face his former club and see some old teammates,
for one thing he should have a great game."

The first match is to take place on Valentines Day at Celtic Park while the second leg will take place on March 8th in Paris.

Tickets will be sold mostly to those who are season ticket holders and those who attended the previous matches will get second priority. A select hundred or so tickets will be available to the public via lottery sometime in the coming weeks.
