Welcome to Grosvenor Vale

Home to Wealdstone Football Club who ply their trade in the National South. Formed in 1899, the club has seen very little silverware, the last piece won was back in 1985 when the club won the National League to achieve promotion to the then named Fourth Division, alongside the FA Trophy win. Since then a rapid decline saw the club drop to the English Southern League and to fast forward, promotion was achieved in 2014 to allow the club to regain their National South status.

The idea of the save was to build a side up from the lowest playable league to Premier League champions and onwards. A fellow FM Scout member, CoreyE decided to do something similar so we find ourselves challenging to see who can lead the club to the promise land first. I tend to manage in the National North more often than not, so I decided I would change and try a Southern side. I had two options in mind, obviously Wealdstone and Bath City, so why Wealdstone you ask? The below video explains.

This video features the famous 'Wealdstone Raider' also known as Gordon Hill, who is an avid Wealdstone fan and this makes the side stand out in my eyes. This story/save will go alongside the Colchester one, in which as I write this has been voted April's Story of the Month, so I thank you lads so much for that, so there's no need to panic as that will continue. To finalise, the manager will be revealed within the next few updates, below is just a brief overview of the club.

Raider Takes Charge at Stones

http://i4.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article4831687.ece/ALTERNATES/s615/PAY-The-Wealdstone-Raider.jpg

Many know the infamous 'Wealdstone Raider' who's drunken antics were caught on camera and since uploaded to YouTube, earning millions of views from around the world. The words, 'You've got no fans, you've got no ground' and 'You want some' have become synonymous with the man behind that video, Gordon Hill, who today has surprisingly taken over his beloved club Wealdstone in the National South.

Gordon, 50, was approached by the club with the basis of having a one-year-deal which would be extended upon achieving the goals set from the club. Wealdstone finished the 2015/16 season in 13th, their second season back in the division following their promotion from the Ryman Premier League in 2014.

The following statement has been released by the club itself on the website, "We are delighted to announce that Gordon Hill has been appointed the Wealdstone first team manager following the departure of Gordon Bartlett. Those who are familiar with Gordon know that he is an avid supporter of the club and has become a huge part of our recent commercial success. We believe that Gordon knows the right way to lead the club forward, whilst bringing an entertainment factor like no other."

The appointment will be in effect immediately and will mean that 'The Raider' will lead his side out in the pre-season friendly against Yeovil Town this weekend. The Stones will begin their National South campaign away at Dartford on the 6th August.

My Story

A modest fan, to a football manager...

You can never dictate the way life takes you. I have learnt that over the years I have been on the earth. I could have never expected that I would become a 'viral success' on the internet. A simple rant at a Whitehawk fan that has turned my life around, for better and for worse.

I have loved Wealdstone for as long as I can remember, my father took me to each game as a small child and I remember the atmosphere around the ground was electric. There's nothing like Non-League atmosphere. Supporting your local club, as you go through the turnstyles and get that rush through your body, nothing beats it, explains why I haven't missed a home or away game in years.

The whole 'Wealdstone Raider' aspect of my life has given me so much and allowed me to meet some very special people. I pride myself on being the same humble and approachable man I have always been - you have to remember where you came from and although I am no celebrity, some would consider I am. I've had reports made up from tabloids, something I never would imagine but it's part of my life now.

Even after the whole fiasco, my life has continued to be unthinkable. To be approached by the club I have always loved, the Stones... Wealdstone football club, to be first team manager is ridiculous. I feel blessed, it's the only way I can describe the whole experience. But it goes back to my first words in this entry...

You can never dictate the way life takes you...
Great start!!!
MJK- Thanks mate!

Wealdstone Football Club – Squad Report

Below is a run-through of the key players who are part of the 2016/17 squad at Wealdstone. Improvements are to be made, in which will be mentioned in the weeks to come.

Sahr Kabba

http://www.havantandwaterlooville.net/pictures/players/348.jpg

The English forward joined on a free after being released from Welling last season following the clubs relegation from the National League. Now 27, he is aiming to rediscover the form that allowed him to take the step up a division after a good spell with Havant & Waterlooville from 2012 to 2014. A small forward, standing at just 5'2, he has the pace to terriorise defences within the division this season and could be a huge factor in the push for the playoffs.

Current Ability:
Potential Ability:

Ricky Wellard

An experienced midfielder, Ricky Wellard has enjoyed spells at Wimbledon, Cambridge, Sailsbury, Sutton and more recently Hemel Hempstead and playing alongside Kabba at Welling. Starting his career at Ashford, he has played over 300 games in his career at 28 and doesn't look like slowing down yet. A creative mystro in the center of the field, he has all the traits you look for in a midfielder with good passing ability and a first touch. Expect him to be one of the best player in the division entirely.

Current Ability:
Potential Ability:

Matty Whichelow

http://www.wealdstone-fc.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/20160813_Whichelow-254x300.png

A quick winger with fantastic crossing ability, Matty Whichelow is all you could wish for in a lower league player. Starting his career at Watford, making two appearances before brief loans to Exeter, Wycombe and Accrington, he left the club to join Boreham Wood for three years, only missing a few games in both seasons in the Conference South before leaving after making just a couple games in the National League. After spells at Chelmsford and Oxford City on loan, he has joined The Stones on a free.

Current Ability:
Potential Ability:

Jonathan North

http://www.wealdstone-fc.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/20160813_North-234x300.png

Jonathan North has been a mainstay at Grosvenor Vale for many years. Beginning his career at Watford, similarly to Whichelow, he spent four years at the club whilst also having a spell at Oxford City he then left to join Wealdstone enjoying three seasons as the number one at the club. He had a month loan at Hitchin back in 2012, but has been back inbetween the posts since. Commanding his area well, the Englishman is a fantastic shot-stopper and will be a key part to the team this season.

Current Ability:
Potential Ability:
Sahr Kabba is going to be a legend I feel
Wichelow was a total dude for me last year with Borehamwood....good luck bro!
Been beaten to all the puns...

Nice layout, make Stuart Pearce proud!
My man Kabba <3
Well.... stranger things have happened!
MJK- I bloody hope so, seems very good!

Infra- He's got what it takes to be successful, hope he does just as well for me as he did you. Thanks!

BPH- :P Will try to mate!

Corey- You know it ;)

Justice- That's the way we have to think :P
