Wealdstone have completed the signing of Jake Simpson on a free transfer, following his release from Norwich City at the end of the 2014/15 season.
Simpson, now 19, spent a year out of the game following his release from the now Championship club just a year after the Canaries brought him through the ranks. Since, he has been on numerous trials for Conference level clubs such as Torquay in the National League and fellow National South side Whitehawk but has not been offered a deal.
Wealdstone manager Gordon Hill said, "I'm very happy to bring in Jake, he's young and eager for first team football which is always a must in a player, we need committed hardworking players and that's what he is. He's at the club to benefit both himself and the club and we can't wait for him to showcase what he can do on the pitch here this season. I fail to see what the other clubs that have trialled him have missed – he definitely has what it takes to succeed in the future and will be a key part to the success we want to achieve here this season."
The Stones have more deals to be announced within the coming days, as the transition at the club seems to be continuing ahead of the new season. It's all change at the club currently and it'll be interesting to see what comes in and also out of the revolving door at Grosvenor Vale.
