John Warrington - The Journey to Greatness

August 2018

A superb start to our return to the Football League, we are unbeaten after our first three games and we got revenge on Forest Green for Wembley 2017. Unfortunately, we were knocked out of the Carabao Cup but we can hold our heads up high after being knoacked out by a full strength Stoke side in round two. We did manage a giant killing by knocking out Barnsley from the Championship in round one.

Given he came second in both of the league awards, I'm giving this to Sven Karic. He's been really good at the back for us since he signed and long may it continue.

September 2018

Our unbeaten league record is gone. A 3-2 loss away at Mansfield on the 1st of the month saw to that, however aside from that, the month was fantastic. We won all but 1 of the other games in the league and beat Man United Under 23's on pens in the Checkatrade Trophy, not that anyone really cares about the competition based on the attendance. A bit of transfer news, we've signed Ollie Banks on a free. He is a defensive midfielder who played for Oldham last season.

Player of the Month



Ben Tollitt is my Player of the Month for September. Ben has been in really good form recently and has really stepped up his game since the jump to League Two. His best performance of the month was against AFC Wimbledon, where he scored twice and assisted one.

October 2018 Transfer Update

It's quite unusual for me to do a transfer update during the season, let alone during October! However, during October we've seen a lot of activity in and out of the club which I felt the need to update you on.

In



The main reason for the transfer activity is my decision to switch from a 1 winger formation and use 2 wingers. This meant we were short on wingers so I brought in two to bolster the squad. First is Larnell Cole, who spent last season at Oxford in League One. The second is Gabby Agbonlahor, who needs no introduction. At 32, Gabby is getting on a bit but I thought that he would provide valuable depth to the squad as he can play either side and upfront. The other two signings were goalkeeper Lee Nicholls and left back Andy Kellett.

Out



Our departures are all loan departures and are all players who have been moaning about first team football (with the exception of Ollie Norburn, who kicked up a fuss because I loaned out Andy Cook). I feel like these players will definitely benefit from spending time out on loan and hopefully will feature in my first team plans when they return. It all depends on their performances at their respective loan clubs.

October 2018

Another excellent month and I think it's clear that we are promotion contenders now. We are playing some superb football and switching up the formation based on the opposition is working an absolute treat. Hopefully we can continue this form and keep our place at the top of the table.
