Cobblers complete MacDonald loan swoop

Northampton Town have completed the signing of Calum MacDonald on loan until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old joins from Championship side Derby County, where he yet to make a senior appearance - but was named upon the substitutes bench on the final day in the 2016/17 season against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
MacDonald signed a professional deal that year, as he was named Derby's U23 Player of the Year, impressing during the Rams Premier League 2 Division One campaign, as they managed to preserve their status in the division.
Twice capped by Scotland at U21 level, MacDonald spent time with National League side Barrow last season. He went on to make 21 appearances, scoring once in a 3-3 draw against Wrexham as the Bluebirds narrowly survived relegation, finishing in 20th.
Cobblers manager Ryan Moore said, "Calum is a young player full of potential. We look forward to giving him the opportunity he deserves in the Football League and have full confidence that he will play a key part in our success this season."
