Today the club regretfully announce the departure of Derek McInnes from Aberdeen Football Club after resigning this morning.

We would like to thank Derek for all of his achievements with the club with the biggest highlight being the League Cup in 2014.

Since then Derek has helped solidify the Club as the best Scottish club outside of Glasgow with many trips to Europe.

The club has held interviews with potential candidates today as the European Campaign begins next week.

Regretfully, Stewart Milne.

Today the club has announced former club legend Gordon Strachan as Manager

Gordon played for Aberdeen between 1977-1984 during the clubs most successful era winning:

2 x Scottish League Titles -1980,1984
3 x Scottish Cups - 1982, 1983, 1984
European Cup Winners Cup - 1983
European Super Cup - 1983

Gordon also has managerial experience with Celtic and the Scottish national team as well as some English Premier League experience.

We welcome Gordon to the Club and hope he can be just as Successful as his playing spell.
An interesting appointment to replace a hugely successful manager in McInnes. Let's hope Strachan is able to continue the theme and close the gap between the Old Firm.

Aberdeen TV caught up with Gordon Strachan going into Sunday's Season Opener

Q: Gordon what are your feelings on the squad and do you see anymore business in the Window?

A: Am pleased with all the boys effort and ah appreciate them buying into ma philosophy, and no a dinny see more transfer business happening expect of few of the young ones on loan but it’s fitba so am ready tae adapt tae any situation however we may need a few for squad depth still being in European Competition.

Q: We Drew Ayr United in the Betfred Cup, what do you think of the Easy Draw as it’s branded by the media? And on Lawrence Shanklands’s future?

A: No games easy A ken that from ma time with the National Team, look Ayr’s a solid side and Ian [McCall] will demand from them, obviously we will plan for Shankland until any official announcement is made.

Q: Our first League games Flag Day at your Former employer Celtic? And you face former player from your time there Neil Lennon in the Opposing Dugout?

A: A loved ma time at Celtic but am back at Aberdeen so I prefer to talk about us, look A want tae play with no fear over the last few years; Hearts, Hibs, Killie and Rangers have proved that’s the way you have to play them difficult but not impossible; And aye Lenny wis a madman and still is but he was a great Leader for me in my spells as manager he’s proven himself up here before but it’s a different task to his fist spell now people have confidence going to Glasgow.

See you Gordon, Good luck with the Season

Aye Cheers , See you soon

Celtic Take The Win, Strachan Eats "No Fear" Claim

Celtic took a 1-0 Win at Celtic Park the Goal coming From Vankoun Issouf Bayo in the middle of the second half.

A Warm Afternoon in Glasgow saw the Champions take the 3 points against a Possession dominant Aberdeen.

The goal by Bayo was a wonderful ball through from Sinclair with an equally impressive finish from Bayo as his cross goal shot found the bottom corner of Joe Lewis's net.

Lennon would have certainly used Strachan Interview words during his team talks to motivate his side to take the win.

Many Aberdeen fans were split on the teams performance with some preferring this new passing style as Aberdeen looked to get Celtic chasing with some claiming: "More positives than a 1-0 under McInnes."

While others would prefer to sit back and try to sneak a goal: "Why should we play all this fancy stuff, McInnes looked for wins rather than nice play, possession means nothing if you lose."
Good results in Europe and a good start to the story! Good luck, I will be following with interest!

Aberdeen Will Play FC Utrecht in the Playoff Round 22nd/29th August First Leg at Pittodrie.
A great victory on aggregate over a well-established side. FC Utrecht will be another tricky tie, but certainly one you can overcome given your success thus far in the competition.
Comment Responses:

Justice: Certainly some good results, I hop that I can keep your interest going.
ScottT: I certainly hope we can get a result but qualifiers are only the start of the mountain.

Probably good to mention that I go on holiday tomorrow so I will slow down on updates. I aim to get a few more done tonight.
