Wow! Loving the update style, looks so clear and concise to make it easier to follow. Great stuff, mate.
WHEN OCTOBER GOES
Into October we go and the first game of ours to fall to the curse of the international break has risen. The home tie with Wycombe Wanderers has been rearranged for the beginning of November, so we are down to five games this month. Much more reasonable for us to deal with.
TEAM NEWS
05/10/19
October kicks off with a long trip up to Fleetwood, as we look to extend our unbeaten run to 7 games, and looking for 4 wins in a row away from home.
Fleetwood are looking very promising so far in League One, sat 3rd in the table with 6 wins from 10, but they did lose their last game to Shrewsbury. Danny Andrew and Jimmy Dunne are absent from Fleetwood’s squad for this tie, as they look to replace Blackpool in the top 2.
Ipswich will welcome the return of goalkeeper Will Norris to their starting XI as they attempt to claw their way back into the play offs. They will also be boosted by the news that Teddy Bishop and Freddie Sears has returned to light training.
FLEETWOOD: (4-2-1-3) Cairns, Coyle, Eastham, Souttar, Morris, Sheron, Rossiter, Coutts, McAleny, Hunter, Evans. SUBS: Gilks, Clarke, Sowerby, Madden, Burns, Biggins, Dempsey.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Chambers, Garbutt, Downes, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Jackson, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Nsiala, Skuse, Norwood, Donacien, Georgiou, Roberts.
On paper that’s a very good result, but it’s the 12 straight league game that we have absolutely battered our opponent and not for the win. Horrible defending for both their goals, but our saviour steps up once again to grab a fully deserved point

Moving away from the league for now, we travel to Cheltenham in the Leasing.Com Trophy looking to secure qualification with a game to spare
For Cheltenham, they have been overachieving in League Two this season, as they currently sit 3rd in the league. They come into this game however with only 1 win from their last 5. They will be without Rohan Ince for this game, and time will tell if they decide to rotate for the weekend.
Ipswich are finally looking at getting a full squad back together with Jack Lancaster being the only long term absentee right now. Toto Nsiala has been ruled out for this game with a tight hamstring, and their may be a spot in the team for a few youngsters, including Armando Dobra who has impressed for the u23s this year. He just signed a new 3 year deal, could he be rewarded with a start.
CHELTENHAM: (5-2-1-2) Flinders, Long, Raglan, Bowry, Greaves, Hussey, Thomas, Sheaf, Broom, Reilly, Lloyd. SUBS: Lapworth, Tozer, Brennan, Varney, Addai, Boyle, Campbell.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Holy, Donacien, Woolfenden, Wilson, Garbutt, Nolan, Dozzell, Morris, Dobra, Rowe, Norwood. SUBS: Wright, Georgiou, Crowe, Roberts, Skuse, El Mizouni, Keane.
Full rotation comes back to bite us in the behind. They played pretty much a full first team, and their players were down to 50% fitness at half time, but they had so much more energy than we did, and of course we lost on penalties because we have no clue how to score pens.

Back into league action now as we travel up to Accrington after the postponement of our Wycombe game. Hopefully we can get back to winning ways here.
Accrington approach this game in a mix match form, 3 wins from five but seperated by two defeats. They will be without Jordan Clark and Jerome Opoku for this game, as they look to move out of 13th position
Ipswich will be looking for their first win in 4 games, but will be disheartened by the news that Kayden Jackson is out for a month with fractured ribs. Toto Nsiala is suspended for this tie, but with their squad depth they should be able to cope
ACCRINGTON: (4-4-2) Evtimov, Johnson, Sykes, Hughes, Maguire, McConville, Conneely, Finley, Pritchard, Baker-Richardson, Zanzala. SUBS: Bursik, Barclay, Sousa, Simpson, Sherif, Rodgers, Bishop.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Chambers, Garbutt, Downes, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Rowe, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Wilson, Nolan, Norwood, Skuse, Georgiou, Roberts.
We might be the most useless team in the league. Another bore draw, all the possession, all the chances, no clinical players anyway in this whole squad. Bored.

Still without a home win the season, we host mid table Rotherham looking for our first home league win, and it’s October! In between the Accrington and Rotherham game, we have drawn Solihull Moors at home in the FA Cup 1st round. Should be a comfortable win. Right?
Ipswich are 8 games unbeaten in all competitions, but have drawn their last 4 and are slowly slipping down the table. Once again without Kayden Jackson, they will need to find inspiration from somewhere else.
Rotherham have been blessed with a fully fit and available team for this trip to Portman Road, and will be looking to bounce back from two defeats in a row.

WE’VE WON A HOME GAME! And of course it’s the most unlikely of heroes. In fairness, I do have a corner tactic that aims every cross to the near post, and that’s exactly where Woolfenden was for both goals. Finally a win at Portman Road. So needed.

The last game of October sees us travel away to Southend as we look for revenge as they dumped us out of the Carabao Cup 1st round.
Southend are sat 18th in League One, but have won 4 of their last 5 games so are in a rich vain of form. They will be without Jason Demetriou for this game as he continues his treatment for a damaged foot.
Ipswich are once again without Kayden Jackson, but Teddy Bishop and Freddie Sears are very near returning to full training, which will give Ipswich so many more options for this season.

Two wins in a row to end the month, including another away win which seems to be our trademark this year. Creepily following the trend of real life, winning away and losing/ drawing at home. Still, I’ll take a 1-0 win, although Jon Nolan did pick up an injury and will be out for 4 weeks with a pulled calf muscle.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
It’s been a very good month for Luke Woolfenden, picking up 2 goals in that key win over Rotherham cemented his place as our player of the month. His performances have garnered attention from Championship teams, so hopefully we can keep hold of him. His performances won him the League One Young Player of the Month.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
Slowly working our way into the top positions. An unbeaten month in the league, 8 points from a possible 12 sees us jump into 6th spot. The games our coming thick and fast so we’ll need to be at our best to keep this run going.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSFERS
The transfers are coming in thick and fast right now, as 5 of our brightest prospects make their way out of the club on loan deals. I decided to keep Armando Dobra and Ben Morris because they are likely to be in and around the first team.
Idris El Mizouni has gone to Dag & Red on loan till the end of the season, and has already got 2 goals and 1 assist from 3 games. Ryley Scott has joined York and already made 2 appearances in the middle of the park. Highly rated forward Ben Folami has gone to Aldershot and made his debut the same day as the Southend game. 18-year-old Kai Brown has been in scintillating form for our U23s, and has gone to Gateshead to try and prove he has first team quality, and finally Lounes Foudil has gone to Dorking. The young Frenchman should shine in the Vanarama National League South.

MJK46 - Thanks for the follow bud, I’ll try and do you proud!
Jack - I try and write how i’d want to read someone’s story, glad it’s helping you follow it easier.
Enjoyed catching up with this, very clean updates and the graphics are class. It feels like you need a true scorer as the amount of games you are dominating is impressive. A goalscorer and you will be right in there with that automatic promotion spot.
A good month for draws, certainly! Your position currently isn't too far off Ipswich's in real life in L1. It's always difficult managing a squad that performed as poorly as Ipswich did in the Championship last season, but you're doing well to keep pace with the rest of the top six pack.
DAYLIGHT IN NOVEMBER
November is the month of cups, as we begin our FA Cup journey with a first round tie against Solihull Moors, and we finish our Leasing.Com Trophy group against Wimbledon. Can we progress in two cups this month, let’s wait and see.

Steaming through the games now as we embark on our fateful FA Cup journey. You’d have to go back nearly 50 years for the last time Ipswich Town entered the FA Cup in the First Round, but have been given a fairly kind draw against National League Solihull Moors
Ipswich haven’t played a game for two weeks, and because of that their injury crisis has essentially switched all the players over. Teddy Bishop and Freddie Sears got 45 minutes for the U23s in the last game, so are on for a return. However, Andre Dozzell is our for the next few weeks with a twisted ankle, whilst Jon Nolan is a doubt with a calf strain. They will also be without Luke Chambers who is suspended.
Solihull Moors are in very poor form having lost their last 4 games, and might be without Danny Wright who has a bruised shin, but will have a pretty much full strength squad to choose from. Will the go for broke or conserve their players for the National League?

We’ve won our first FA Cup game since 2009. Yep, let that sink in (thanks Jewell and Big Mick!). Routine win over national league Solihull, and despite rotating a few players in and out, we still got the job done. Nice to see Alan Judge get a hat-trick as well, should give him some confidence.

Moving away from the league for now, we travel to Wimbledon in the Leasing.Com Trophy looking to secure qualification into the 2nd Round. In other news, we had our draw for the FA Cup 2nd round, and we will be travelling to Vanarama National League South side Chippenham, they team that we in real life took Tyrone Mings from for 10k. Wonder where he is now?
The group is very tight for this competition, but only a point should secure both sides qualification into the next round. Wimbledon will be without Scott Wagstaff who has back strain, but every one else is fully fit. The league continues on Saturday, will they rest to focus on the league?
Ipswich will welcome back Luke Chambers to the squad for this game, but will still be without Andre Dozzell and Jon Nolan. They have also been hampered by the news that Freddie Sears will be out till Christmas with a twisted knee, poor guy has no luck.

Solid win away from home to progress top of the group and through to the next round of the cup. Decided to give Tommy Smith his debut as Garbutt hasn’t had a break in a while, and also brought on Tommy Hughes, Tyrese Simpson and Alex Henderson to give the kids some first team exposure.

Back into league action now as we travel up to Oxford off the back of 4 straight wins, as we look to push ourselves further up the table.
Oxford come into this game in impeccable form, 14 game unbeaten with 8 wins in a row. They sit in 4th spot and look very good for an automatic promotion place this year. They will be hampered however by the international break, with Shandon Baptise and Ben Woodbury away with Grenada and Wales, whilst also having Jamie Hanson suspended.
Ipswich have also fallen fowl to the international break, as they will be without Anthony Georgiou, Janoi Donacien and key player Emyr Huws, who receives his first Wales call up for this year. They will be happy knowing that Kayden Jackson has returned to full fitness, and will be looking for their 5 straight win.

Football can be a cruel world sometimes, and that’s exactly what happened here as this was the first time in 16 games where we got absolutely battered, and came away with the win. You could tell they were 14 games unbeaten, but we held in the game and Alan Judge stepped up for his 4th goal in 3 games. Absolutely brilliant result.

I don’t want to speak too soon, but it feels like the times are changing at Ipswich right now. 5 wins in a row, pushing for play off places, into the FA Cup second round, and through to the next round of the Leasing.Com Trophy. Next up however is 2nd place Blackpool, so will be a tough game for us to navigate. Talking of the Leasing.Com Trophy, we have been given a home tie with Coventry, so it’ll be interesting to see if we can progress past them.
It’s been an unfortunate week for Ipswich since their victory over Oxford, as numerous players have come down with little niggles. Alongside Freddie Sears, Alan Judge is our for todays game but should be back for Wycombe, James Norwood is out till December with a muscle strain, whilst Cole Skuse won’t be seen until February after he suffered a hip injury.
Blackpool have also been hit with an injury bug, with Jay Spearing, Nathan Delfouneso and Liam Feeney also a doubt for this key match. Blackpool are in good form having won their last 4 in a row, and are sitting pretty in 2nd place behind Sunderland.

I don’t know what George Burley has been saying to these players but he is getting some performance out of them. Another huge scalp for us on our way back to where we should be. Gwion played a blinder today and deserved his two goals.

It’s taken 4 attempts, but we finally have our game against Wycombe. Originally scheduled for the 12th of October, it was moved to the 2nd of November because of Internationals. That was rearranged again to the 30th of Nov because of Internationals, and that tie was bumped forward 4 days due to the FA Cup tie on the 30th. So much change!
Ipswich have been given a tough run of form recently, as they face their 3rd top 6 team in a row, but will be brimming with confidence after two solid wins over Oxford and Blackpool. Sears, Norwood and Skuse are still unavailable for the game, but Alan Judge is fully fit and should feature, whilst Andre Dozzell has returned to full training.
Wycombe are also in very good form with 4 wins from 5, but will have to do without Paul Smyth who has a calf strain. They will be looking to leapfrog Blackpool into 3rd place with a win against Ipswich.

Oh George Burley you beautiful man. He’s bringing sexy football back to Portman Road. Another goal for Alan Judge, he’s had a great month. Kayden gets his first back from injury, and Danny Rowe opens his account for Ipswich Town. What a result.

Away from the league now as well travel a short distance to Chippenham Town for this FA Cup 2nd Round fixture. Whatever happens in this game, the Chippenham players can be proud of themselves for what they have achieved this season, and I’m expecting them to put up a good fight, might even snatch it.
Chippenham have not had it good outside the FA Cup, as they sit bottom of the Vanarama National League South. They have a full squad at their disposal, and will hope to cause another upset, after they beat Vanarama National Side Torquay in the previous round.
Ipswich are still without Skuse, Sears and Norwood, but every one else is back in contention. Question marks over what kind of team George Burley will be putting out. Does he go strong to get into the next round? Or does he do a Paul Lambert and make 11 changes to make every fan hate him?

Even with 8 changes, we still got the job done. Made easier by Rio Connell’s sending off after an hour, but they put up a good fight. Very happy to see Armando Dobra get his first ever senior goal, a very bright prospect. Into the 3rd round we go.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Was it going to be anyone else? Alan Judge has been in spectacular form for us this month. Getting back to the form that people were seeing when he was tearing up the Championship with Brentford. Interestingly, it was Luke Garbutt who won the November Player of the Month for League One, with Gwion Edwards as runner up. George Burley also picked up his first Manager of the Month award.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
Only made up 1 place in the league this month, despite winning all 3 of our league games this month. We have been in impeccable form recently, with 8 wins in a row. Long may it continue as we head into a tough December.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSFERS
More transfers for us to deal with, all of which have been loans out of the club. Aaron Drinan has just returned from Sweden with 10 goals in 21 games, so he could be someone to overthrow Jordan Roberts as our 4th choice striker, and Sean Dyche has been present at our last 6 games to watch Flynn Downes. Who’s taking control of the Burnley games then?
Bailey Clements has joined Maidenhead until the end of the season, with the young full back already making first team appearances for them this month. Brett McGavin has joined up with Lounes Foudil at Dorking, and already has two assists to his name. England international Dylan Crowe has joined Solihull Moors, exactly one day after we beat them in the FA Cup, and he’s already made 4 appearances in the National League. U23s captain Corrie Ndaba has joined Eastleigh till the end of the season, and has made 4 appearances at the heart of their defence. The final loan departure of the month is Tommy Hughes, who has joined Brackley and made his debut on the FA Cup weekend.

TheLFCFan - I know what you mean, struggled for goals in October but it looks like Burley’s stepped up his finishing training as we are netting buckets full right now.
MJK46 - Thanks mate, I enjoy using photoshop so thought i’d try and incorporate it into my stories. Glad you like them.
Jack - trying to turn a losing mentality into a winning way certainly took its time, but I think I may have kicked that little bug quite emphatically!
What a flawless month! Judge has looked absolutely unstoppable throughout November! I can't believe that Ipswich haven't won an FA Cup game for NINE years either, crazy stat is that.
DECEMBER WILL BE MAGIC AGAIN
The final month of 2019 is upon us, and we have 6 games to tackle to try and put ourselves in a decent position going into the new year. We will also have to tackle Coventry in the Leasing.Com Trophy 2nd round as we look to go one step closer to a trip to Wembley.

Our first game of the month sees us travel up to Birmingham as we face Coventry City at St Andrews. This will be the first of two matches within two days against Coventry, as we host them in the Leasing.Com Trophy.
With this game being played on a Sunday, both side have been given an extra day to rest their players or train them hard for the upcoming match. Coventry are in a bit of a rut at the minute with 1 win from 5, as they sit 17th. They will be without Jamie Allen and Brandon Mason for this tie, and will be hoping to stop their poor run of form
Ipswich have been in scintillating form recently, and currently sit 5th in the league with a game in hand. Cole Skuse is still the long term absentee along with Jack Lancaster, but Ipswich fans will be happy to hear that both James Norwood and Freddie Sears have returned to training.

Brilliant win away from home at Coventry. Luke Woolfenden is so good in the air it’s insane, 2 more goals from corners and a 10th goal of the season for Will Keane. Jackson and Norwood have struggled this season, so I’m glad Will Keane is showing his quality.

10/12/19
2 days have passed and now we are entertaining Coventry at Portman Road in the 2nd Round of the Leasing.Com Trophy. Wouldn’t expect much consistency in the team line ups for this game, so heavy rotation is looking like the answer for this tie.
Team news wise, it’ll be very difficult to tell what the line up will be for this game. The certainty however is that Emyr Huws will miss the game after suffering a gashed lower leg at St Andrews. Recently returned players James Norwood, Freddie Sears, Teddy Bishop and Andre Dozzell might be pushing for a start.
Coventry are in the same boat as Ipswich, but they will be boasted by the return of Brandon Mason back from suspension, as they will be looking for revenge in this Leasing.Com cup tie.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Holy, Donacien, Wilson, Nsiala, Kenlock, Dozzell, Bishop, Morris, Dobra, Rowe, Jackson. SUBS: Wright, Chambers, Cotter, Georgiou, Baker, Sears, Roberts.
COVENTRY: (4-1-4-1) Wilson, Dabo, Pask, Rose, Mason, Walsh, Kastaneer, Eccles, Westbrooke, Shipley, Godden. SUBS: Bilson, Hyam, Burroughs, Biamou, Bapaga, Watson, Jobello.
Not convincing, but with 10 changes I didn’t expect it to be. Only Jackson survived from the team that won at the weekend, but I’m glad he’s got himself another goal. Desperately needed. On to the next round, one step closer to Wembley.

14/12/19
Back into league action now as we host Bristol Rovers in the league. We are 14 games unbeaten in the league, and hopefully we can extend that over mid table Rovers. In the midst of the build up, we have drawn MK Dons at home in the 3rd Round of the Leasing.Com Trophy.
Ipswich come into this game at the top of the form charts for League One, and are pushing for the automatic promotion places. Cole Skuse and Emyr Huws are still unavailable for this game, but the rest of the squad are fully fit and ready for action.
Bristol Rovers however, have lost their last 5 games and come into this in horrible form. They will be without Alex Rodman and Tom Davies for this tie, and will need to dig deep to grab a much needed result to stop their free fall.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Chambers, Garbutt, Downes, Bishop, Edwards, Judge, Jackson, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Nsiala, Nolan, Norwood, Donacien, Rowe, Morris.
BRISTOL ROVERS: (3-5-2) Jaakkola, Little, Kilgour, Craig, Hare, Holmes-Dennis, Clarke, Upson, Ogogo, Clarke-Harris, Adeboyejo. SUBS: van Stappershoefs, Kelly, Bennett, Smith, Leahy, Menayese, Nichols.
The good times keep on coming. Another solid win that takes us to 15 games unbeaten in the league, and up to 3rd spot. It’s as if that horror start had never happened. Hopefully these results can continue and we can challenge Sunderland for top spot

Portsmouth are the next team to try and take down Ipswich Town, but it’s not been plain sailing for the south coast side. Kenny Jackett was sacked earlier in the season, and Alan Pardew is the man trusted with steering the ship in the right direction.
Portsmouth will be looking to continue their good recent form as they have currently won their last three games, but will have to overcome Ipswich without Ronan Curtis who is out with a twisted ankle. Alan Pardew’s boys will be looking for a big scalp to climb up the table.
Ipswich are full of confidence, and rightly so with 15 games unbeaten in the league. They will also be excited to hear that Emyr Huws has returned to full training, whilst James Norwood and Teddy Bishop have both got themselves back to full match fitness.

I knew the run was going to end eventually, and to be honest it was a very even game but they were much more clinical than we were. 15 games unbeaten in the league comes to an end, but we are still in a good position in the league with 2 games to go for 2019.

No time to dwell on the past, because the games come thick and fast the League One. Up next is Gillingham at home, and officially the half way stage of the season. To be 5th going into the game considering the start we had is very pleasing, just need to push on into the new year.
Ipswich will be looking to bounce back from their 4th defeat of the season against Gillingham, but will have to so without Emyr Huws who picked up a bruised thigh against Portsmouth. With 3 games in 7 days, maybe this game could be the one that sees some rotation.
Gillingham are still struggling in League One as they sit 20th in the league, but haven’t lost in their last four. They replaced Steve Evans with Stuart McCall, but he won’t be able to rely on Mark Marshall and Alex Jakubiak who are both injured for today’s game.

Not the most comfortable of wins but 3 points non the less. That victory still keeps us in 5th place, because all the teams above us won as well. Glad Will Keane scored because he’d gone a few games without a goal, however he will miss the Lincoln game with a twisted knee.

The final game of 2019 is away against recently promoted Lincoln City, who are currently on the verge of the play offs after an impressive first half of the season. A win for Ipswich here could see them leapfrog everyone into top spot, but a loss could open up a big gap to 1st place.
Lincoln will be looking at Fleetwood and Wycombe to slip up so they can push for that 6th spot, but will have to do so without Jorge Grant who is a doubt with a twisted ankle. They have been fairly inconsistent of late, and will be looking to turn their form into a positive
Ipswich are still without Skuse for this game, and Will Keane is touch-and-go up until kick off to see if he is fit. Andre Dozzell just signed a new 3-year-deal, will he be rewarded with a start this afternoon?

Horrible way to end the year. Played like we did at the beginning of the season. Absence of Will Keane was felt hard as Jackson missed 3 1-on-1s. Need to improve before we travel to Wycombe on New Years Day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
He won the player of the month for League One last month, and he’s been our best player this month. Garbutt has been consistently very good for us this season at an unflavoured left back spot. 10 assists already this season, hopefully he can keep on going for the rest of the campaign.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
Still in the same spot after 3 wins and 2 defeats this month. It’s getting really tight at the top of the table, no team is running away with it. Oxford have snatched a 3 point lead from Sunderland, but I wouldn’t count out anyone down to Fleetwood down in 7th.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSFERS
3 more transfers for us to deal with before the winter window opens up. Full back Tom Scott has joined Boston United till the end of the season, and has already played 2 games for the National League side. Aaron Drinan, fresh off a very good spell in Sweden, has joined Dylan Crowe at Solihull Moors. He’s picked up where he left off in Scandinavia, with 3 goals from his 3 games. Young keeper Tony Egan has joined Kingstonian on loan, and has already played 5 games for the non league side.
Away from loan deals, their may be some alterations to our first team in the next month. I’ve had a 200k bid, 50k up front, accepted for 23-year-old Mohammed Ofkir, but I can’t confirm the deal because it will cost £63k to complete the deal, but the stingy Marcus Evans gave me a ‘boosted’ transfer budget of 50k! There may be some movements out of the first team as well. As I said previously Sean Dyche has been watching Flynn Downes, and may be tempted into a bid. I’ve had Toto Nsiala and Jon Nolan come to moaning about a lack of game time, so they might be profited on in January. Jordan Roberts has been subject to interest from Rochdale, Blackpool, Southend, and MK Dons, and with us only playing 1 striker, I may allow him to leave.

YOUTH ACADEMY/LOANS
I wanted to take this opportunity to see how our youth teams are doing, as well as our players that have left the club on loan in the last few months. Despite all the loan deals out of the u23s, they are now 1st in their league. Zak Brown has stepped up from the U18s brilliantly and has 9 goals in 14 starts for the academy. Tyrese Simpson and Armando Dobra have also been playing their part. Our U18s are also top of their league, which is a surprise because of the amount of kids moved into the U23s. Michael Bareck, Nyan Mesuria and Zanda Siziba have all got double figures this season, and it’s only December!
Loan wise, a few of our players have been performing quite well away from the club. As mentioned, Aaron Drinan is already scoring in the National League. Idris El Mizouni has been playing really well for Dagenham and Redbridge with 2 goals and 2 assists. Brett McGavin has surprised me the most, with 2 goals and 3 assists from CDM for Dorking. Bartosz Bialkowski is the only senior player out on loan this year; and was playing well for Millwall up until he broke his hand a few weeks before Christmas.

Jack - He really stepped his game up when others were slowly fading, sadly though he wasn’t able to repeat that in December. Yeah the FA Cup stat is horrible, shouldn’t be going that long without winning.
A mixed month but the playoff zone is great!!! I enjoyed to see your report on the youth. The future looks bright for Ipswich, excited to see how Ben Morris turns out, lots of potential.
It’s the sort of form I’d expect from a team under the pressure of achieving a promotion instantly after relegation, that’s for sure. Points could have swung either way, but hopefully that Lincoln scoreline won’t stick in the players heads going into the next month.
MJK46 - the youth is our best chance of progress up the leagues in my opinion, we are blessed in real life with some very talented players. Ben Morris has looked good so far, pushed him into the deep end in November and December, and he’s shown that he is capable. If their are any other players that people want to look at don’t hesitate to ask.
Jack - that mad run of games between September and November was completely out of the blue, and I believe that Lincoln game was just one to many on some of the players. Hopefully that can regroup and go again.

THE JANUARY SUN
2019 ended in a way I’m not proud off, but hopefully 2020 can be the year of the Tractor Boys. The transfer window is upon us, but if I want to do any business I will need to sell first. If we can get the right amount of money, then ideally a winger and a centre back are key to our promotion push for the rest of the season.

Our first game of 2020 falls upon New Years Day, as we travel to Wycombe looking to bounce back from the defeat to Lincoln. Just before the game I received the news that the UK would not be leaving the EU, make your bloody mind up Boris!
In the reverse of this fixture earlier in the season, Ipswich picked up a 3-0 win, so Wycombe will be looking for revenge. The only player doubtful for the game is Josh Parker who has a twisted ankle. Wycombe sit in 6th place in the league, and will be looking for a victory to catapult them into 3rd.
Ipswich will welcome the return of Will Keane to their side, as he was massively missed in their last game. However, Vincent-Young has picked up 10 yellows so will be out for the next two games, how big a miss will that be?
WYCOMBE: (4-1-2-2-1) Allsop, Grimmer, Stewart, Phillips, Jacobson, Thompson, Gape, Freeman, Aarons, Wheeler, Kashmet. SUBS: Yates, Charles, Ofoborh, Onyedinma, Bloomfield, Jombati, Pattison.

It’s not the dominant performance we saw in November, but is a result that I will take. 1-1 away to Wycombe is nothing to be upset about. Another goal for Luke Woolfenden as well, madness.

Away from the league now as we travel away to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup 3rd Round. Not much expectation for this game, just want the players to go out their and play their hearts, and see if we can sneak a replay from the game.
Nottingham Forest go into this game in some good form, undefeated in 5 games. They currently sit 9th in the Championship, but will have to make do with a bit of squad rotation as they have 4 players out injured. Yohan Benalouane, Marios Siabanis, Joe Lolley and Tobias Figueiredo are all either out or doubtful for this cup tie.
Ipswich are in the same boat as they were for the Wycombe game, with Kane Vincent-Young on his final game for suspension. Cole Skuse is still a fair while away from match fitness. Ipswich will be hoping for an upset to keep their cup form going.

Honestly very happy with that performance. Written off before the game but for us to come to the City Ground and grab a replay shows the courage and determination that these players have. And we are into the 4th Round draw, uncharted territory for an Ipswich fan.

What was supposed to be Ipswich vs Fleetwood has now turned into Ipswich vs Nottingham Forest, as the replay will take place 3 days after the previous. Now we have home advantage, can we take the ascendancy and get into the next round. If we can defeat Forest, we will host either Charlton or Peterborough.
Ipswich come into this game boosted by the return of Kane Vincent-Young. The marauding full back has been key to Ipswich’s performances this season, and his return is huge for a game of this calibre.
Forest are still without their injured 4, and with games coming thick and fast they can’t afford any more injuries. Will they change up their side to focus on the play off push, or go for broke and aim for a Cup win?

The best win of George Burley’s reign as Ipswich Town manager (besides that whole promotion business in 2000). What a win for the tractor boys, and it means we will be facing another Championship side in Charlton. Surely they have the confidence to get another cupset?

After the heroics of the FA Cup, Ipswich get back to league action with a home game against Accrington Stanley. After the confidence boosting victory in mid week, can the Tractor Boys push themselves further up the table and towards promotion. In the gap between this game and the Forest replay; we had the news that Anthony Georgiou had been recalled by Tottenham.
Ipswich have the luxury of a fully fit squad minus Cole Skuse for this home tie, and with another game in 4 days, may we see some rotation come into play, or will Burley save that for the Leasing.Com Trophy match against MK Dons
Accrington are in a bit of a rut right now, with no win in 4 games, and they sit just above the drop zone in 19th place. They will be without Sam Finley who has twisted ankle, whilst Sean McConville and Seamus Conneely are both doubts with leg injuries.

Not the most comfortable win, but I’ll take 3 points any day of the week. The best thing to come out of this game is that Freddie Sears has scored his first of the season. The poor guy has had injury after injury, and he’s finally got himself a goal. Hopefully it can spark a good run of form for him.

5th game in 15 days sees us host MK Dons in the Leasing.Com Trophy 3rd Round. Both sides will be looking for a route to Wembley, but with both teams performing well in the league, may we see two very much reserve sides take the field. The winner of this tie faces the Chelsea U23s in the Quarter Final.
Ipswich will be hampered by the suspension to Luke Woolfenden. Not particularly for this game, but for the away trip to Tranmere in Saturday. We defeated MK Dons earlier in the season, so let’s see if it can be repeated.
MK Dons will be without George Boateng who is out with broken ribs, but will have a full strength side besides him to choose from. Question is, how will they approach the game? Full swing, or rotate city?
MK Dons took this much more seriously than we did. We made 9 changes from our last league game, they made 0. But we came through it just on penalties, but it’s a very good sign when your reserves can beat another teams first XI. That victory now means we are the side to host Chelsea U23s.
18/01/20
Another day, another game. Three days later we travel up to Tranmere in League One, as we look to keep the pressure on the sides above us, whilst Tranmere look to break into the top 6.
Tranmere are performing very well in the league this season under Micky Mellon, but have been inconsistent of late with 3 wins and 2 defeats in their last 5. For this game, they will have to provide late fitness tests for Jacob Maddox and Kane Wilson, to see if they are fit enough to challenge Ipswich today.
Ipswich are still without Skuse for this game, and will also be missing Luke Woolfenden who is serving the 2nd of his 3 match ban. Will it be Toto Nsiala or James Wilson that fills in for the Wolf against Tranmere.
We were never in the game in all honestly, Keane was lucky to grab a goal from the penalty spot but we were thoroughly and deservedly beaten by Tranmere, but that loss pushes us even further from the top 2 spots.
21/01/20
No time to dwell on that result as another 2 days go by and we are back in action, this time at home to Fleetwood. We desperately need to get ourselves back into promotion contention otherwise George Burley’s position as Ipswich manager could come under threat. Just before the game, we had the 5th round draw for the FA Cup, where we have been drawn away to Millwall if we overcome Charlton
Ipswich will once again be without key defender Luke Woolfenden, who has looked so composed at the back for Ipswich this season. Other than it’s a full squad, but with the amount of fixtures they are being forced to play this month, none of them are 100% fit.
Fleetwood are in a similar boat to Ipswich, as they have 3 players missing for this game. Nathan Sheron, Danny Andrew and Jordan Rossiter are all unavailable through injury, and with them having lost their last 2 games, they will be looking for a victory to stop the rot.
Really worried now. This game is the exact replica of our first month of charge. Absolutely batter them, and still lose. 94th minute goal was a killer, drops us down to 7th. Not sure how much longer Burley has left in the job.
25/01/20
The games are coming thick and fast but the results are not for Ipswich Town. Two defeats in a row sees them slip out of the top 6, and their are fears that George Burley’s job may be in danger if he doesn’t get some victories soon.
Ipswich see the return of Luke Woolfenden for this game, and what a massive miss he has been. They desperately needed him back and he’ll add some much needed stability to that back line.
Lincoln are without Ben Coker for this game with a abdominal strain, but have won their last two whereas Ipswich have lost both theirs. Will the form books tell the tale of the game, or can Ipswich flip it on its head?
A desperately needed win that surprisingly shoots us up to 4th in the league. You knows it’s a mental league when you can got 16 games unbeaten and go from 9th to 5th, lose two, drop to 7th and then win one and go up to 4th. Mad league, but a really good win to get us back on track.
28/01/20
Finally we reach the end of the month. 28 days, 9 games, all players dead. Although, looking into February, our next week long gap is the between the 22nd and the 29th. We haven’t had more than a 4 day gap between games since the 21st of December. Stupid amount of games for us to play. Rotherham is the team we face this afternoon, let’s end January on a high.
Rotherham will be looking at this game with confidence having picked up 3 wins from their last 5 games, but might have to tackle the game without their leading striker Freddie Ladapo who has a tight thigh.
Ipswich can rely on every play bar Cole Skuse and very long term absentee Jack Lancaster, but because of the lack of break they have had all month, their will be a need for slight rotation once again, which could be their downfall.
That is the perfect way for end such a busy month. Massive confidence boost for all the players getting that result. Love seeing Freddie Sears getting on the scoresheet, such a talented Inverted Winger when he is fully fit.
He missed 3 games through suspension in January, but he still notched up 6 appearances. We didn’t lose before he was suspended, we didn’t win when he was suspended, and we didn’t lose when he came back. He is such a rock at the back, and Luke Woolfenden picks up his 2nd Player of the Month Award. He also won the League One Young Player of the Month.
Despite losing two of our 6 league games this month, we have somehow moved up to 4th in the table, and opened up a 5 point gap to 7th place. Considering after the Fleetwood result their were news reports suggesting Burley’s time was up at Ipswich, he’s still kept them within 4 points of automatic promotion, so he’s not done that bad?
Despite it being the transfer window, it was very quiet in East Anglia. As I mentioned in the December update, I couldn’t bring anyone in without letting people go. I’ve listed up Jon Nolan, Danny Rowe and Toto Nsiala, but no teams wanted to take them off my hands. I had a 180k bid accepted from MK Dons for Jordan Roberts, but that fell through so instead he went out on loan to Rochdale. Youth keeper Jake Alley has also moved out on loan to St Albans

IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Holy, Donacien, Nsiala, Chambers, Kenlock, Dozzell, Nolan, Morris, Rowe, Sears, Keane. SUBS: Norris, Wilson, Downes, Jackson, Cotter, Dobra, Norwood.
MK DONS: (4-5-1) Nicholls, Brittain, Poole, Cargill, Walsh, Agard, Reeves, Gilbey, Houghton, Dickenson, Mason. SUBS: Moore, Williams, Kasumu, Healey, Nicell, Moore-Taylor, Bowery.
MK Dons took this much more seriously than we did. We made 9 changes from our last league game, they made 0. But we came through it just on penalties, but it’s a very good sign when your reserves can beat another teams first XI. That victory now means we are the side to host Chelsea U23s.

TRANMERE: (4-2-1-2-1) Davies, Wilson, Nelson, Monthe, Borthwick-Jackson, Potter, Perkins, Danns, Blackett-Taylor, Morris, Hepburn-Murphy. SUBS: Pilling, Woods, Gilmour, Payne, Mullin, Ellis, Ferrier.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Nsiala, Chambers, Garbutt, Bishop, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Jackson, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Donacien, Downes, Sears, Kenlock, Dozzell, Norwood.
We were never in the game in all honestly, Keane was lucky to grab a goal from the penalty spot but we were thoroughly and deservedly beaten by Tranmere, but that loss pushes us even further from the top 2 spots.

IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Nsiala, Chambers, Garbutt, Downes, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Rowe, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Kenlock, Nolan, Sears, Donacien, Dozzell, Norwood.
FLEETWOOD: (4-2-1-2-1) Cairns, Eastham, Dunne, Souttar, Morris, Dempsey, Coutts, Sowerby, Hunter, McAleny, Evans. SUBS: Crelin, Clarke, Burns, Madden, Biggins, Southam-Hales, Marney.
Really worried now. This game is the exact replica of our first month of charge. Absolutely batter them, and still lose. 94th minute goal was a killer, drops us down to 7th. Not sure how much longer Burley has left in the job.

IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Chambers, Garbutt, Nolan, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Jackson, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Kenlock, Downes, Sears, Nsiala, Dozzell, Norwood.
LINCOLN: (4-4-1-1) Vickers, Lewis, Bostwick, Shackell, Toffolo, Payne, Connolly, Morrell, Andrade, Hesketh, Walker. SUBS: Smith, Eardley, Grant, Akinde, Chapman, Anderson, Pett.

ROTHERHAM: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Olosunde, Ihiekwe, Robertson, Mattock, Barlaser, Crooks, Hastie, Anjorin, Ogbene, Smith. SUBS: Price, Wood, Clarke, Morris, Wiles, Thompson, Vassell.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Norris, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Chambers, Garbutt, Nolan, Huws, Edwards, Judge, Sears, Keane. SUBS: Holy, Nsiala, Downes, Jackson, Kenlock, Dozzell, Norwood.
That is the perfect way for end such a busy month. Massive confidence boost for all the players getting that result. Love seeing Freddie Sears getting on the scoresheet, such a talented Inverted Winger when he is fully fit.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
He missed 3 games through suspension in January, but he still notched up 6 appearances. We didn’t lose before he was suspended, we didn’t win when he was suspended, and we didn’t lose when he came back. He is such a rock at the back, and Luke Woolfenden picks up his 2nd Player of the Month Award. He also won the League One Young Player of the Month.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
Despite losing two of our 6 league games this month, we have somehow moved up to 4th in the table, and opened up a 5 point gap to 7th place. Considering after the Fleetwood result their were news reports suggesting Burley’s time was up at Ipswich, he’s still kept them within 4 points of automatic promotion, so he’s not done that bad?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TRANSFERS
Despite it being the transfer window, it was very quiet in East Anglia. As I mentioned in the December update, I couldn’t bring anyone in without letting people go. I’ve listed up Jon Nolan, Danny Rowe and Toto Nsiala, but no teams wanted to take them off my hands. I had a 180k bid accepted from MK Dons for Jordan Roberts, but that fell through so instead he went out on loan to Rochdale. Youth keeper Jake Alley has also moved out on loan to St Albans

UP NEXT
Glad to have caught up with this. Every minute reading the updates I had missed was worthwhile. Blown away by the detail in which is included with every update considering this is your first attempt on the site. Keep up the good work in that regard. Hopefully the lack of consistency at times can be cut out and Ipswich can take the latter couple of results into February to really begin their charge on the automatic promotion places.
ScottT - thank you so much Scott, means a lot to see how much this story has impressed you. The run in to the end of the season will be tough with 8 more games in February, but if memory serves me, I think we have a very favourable end to the season, so if we can get into a good position at the end of Feb, I think we have a real chance.
