Will Eugenie work on it ??? :/
Yes, did you miss the news mate?
As soon as I have an update from him, there will be an announcement in the news ;)
the question that fueled the creation of this site... the spark that started this trend called fmscout.
Any news about Genie scout release date?
Let's ask this different way: How long it has taken in the past ie. when were FM10 and FM09 released and when were the corresponding GenieScouts released?

I would mostly be interested that are we talking here about waiting for days, weeks or months?
I am not able to buy the efficient players of FM 2011 without Genie Scout.

Plz... I need Genie Scout.
Guys... please, be patient. It is coming soon, I am sure ;)

Most likely you're looking at weeks. This isn't a priority for Eugene anymore and the updates are slow. Unfortunately, no one else has come up with a comparable program, so you're sort of stuck waiting. If you think you can do it better, there are guides on how to create your own scout program.

On with it,

15+ years back I didn't need apps like GenieScount to play CM, but now with a full time job, living with my g/f and all that jazz I'm more of a casual player in the sense that I look to cut corners on time sinks in the game (training, tactics, scouting), thus Eugene's little monster is among factors that almost make the difference between FM being playable/unplayable for me time-wise.
Now, with utmost respect to Eugene for sharing this wonderful app FREE OF CHARGE, I'd be thankful whenever GenieScout comes out, I don't mind the wait. At the same time I would love if it was released close to FM's release date, but I stand by the opinion that the lack of financial incentive to motivate any app's developer tends to make things naturally go slower/lazier (no pun intended).
I'll probably be flogged because of the suggestion but I'm one of those who would gladly pay a nominal fee for a software like this. Seeing that FM itself isn't expensive (comparing to other games, I pre-ordered for less than 35EU), GenieScout could be like 5euros (one-time payment, no monthly fees). I'm aware this was attempted before, but back then some key features were turned off in the free version of Genie. Instead, why not make both Premium and Free versions to be full-featured, BUT have the Free version released XY months after the Premium one (ie. 2 months after Premium release) and apply the same XY months delay method for updates of the app that make it work with future FM patches (those who buy the Premium will be able to download updates as soon as they come out, whilst others will wait ie. 2 months).
I am aware of the general guidelines that 'mods' and similar stuff should be free and pro bono, but apps like Genie are sophisticated much more than mods, and the first thing that strikes it's user when double-clicking the shortcut is that a lot of time/effort is needed to make/maintain an app like this one.
Please note that I suggest this with the best intentions, with priority being:
1) 'Assurance' that Genie will live on.
2) Eugene being somewhat compensated (or even rewarded depending on how many people would pay, I guess even 1000 people would be great) for this wonderful piece of software.
3) Users getting some sort of 'satisfaction guaranteed' mainly when it comes to release dates (we won't tolerate paid waiting Eugene, no, no :D) but also other things.
Furthermore, with a financial incentive other developers might come out of the mist with their own ideas and innovative stuff who otherwise won't bother putting XY days of work into something that is free, and all this could start a cycle that could eventually lead to a boom in the development of this kind of software for FM.

Rock on,
flat
That's a wonderful idea mate, I will pass it on to Eugene. I'm not sure whether this will done obviously, but at least it shall be read and considered.
Thanks!
You're welcome anytime. Just passing this on would be great so thank you :) I'd like Genie to have more punctual and 'fixed' release dates just as the next guy ;) Perhaps Eugene could think of more effective methods then the ones suggested above, in which case all the better as long as there's a chance for us to get future releases of Genie 'on time', while maintaining common sense in keeping things cost/effective for both the developer and buyer.

Well said, I agree! :)
I sent him an email about it, I will let you know here when I get a reply.

Yes, it was attempted in the past but not in the way you mentioned.
The thing is there will always be the loud minority who would complain, but as long as most people can think straight and within reason, I believe your suggested model could work just fine.

Added 3 hours 19 minutes later:

I got a reply from Eugene. Apparently, he is unable to follow this model because he would have to face lawsuits from SI. This means he cannot actually sell Genie Scout because it's using the FM brand.

I already said he had attempted that in the past, but he had to stop because SI threatened him... so he refunded all the money he received losing a lot in the transaction fees as well.

As a result, the only way to go is through voluntary donations.

Did he said about his progress with Genie Scout? ;)
Not yet, but he promised to answer to a mini interview by tomorrow, so we might find our answer there ;)
