In a 4-2-3-1 your AM will be doing most of the attacking and creating along with the wide players. You can't really expect an attacking role out of one of the two deeper midfielders.

If a 4-3-3/4-1-2-3 then it's more possible for sure but there you have to get the balance right with the wingers.

Personally I prefer my centre mids to control the game, they are there to recycle possession & get the ball back and then to my more creative role players elsewhere.

Im switching between those two. This season I have Jadon Sancho whos played 28 matches in all
competitions and he has 0 goals 3 assists. To me that makes no sense :p worst avg rating ive ever seen of 6.62.

Season is going quite well. Im topping the table with 13 points ahead of Bayern. Its just so many positions underperforming by a lot. I switched to Mezzala on Attack and already seeing improvements in that position.
Hi this might be off topic but i am currently managing dortmund and using 4-2-3-1 as my tactic. The roles that i am using are Advanced Forward(A), Shadow Striker(A) and 2 wing forward one as an inside forward(S) and other as inverted winger(S), my 2 deepest midfielder has a Advanced playmaker(S) and ball winning midfielder(s) role, my 2 deep wing halves are FB(S) and FB(S) and with 2 BPD. what sort of team instructions or player instructions to use so i could balance everything out given i have got all the roles and duties right

2020-07-08 14:36#275847 RDF Tactics :
Just to add to this, your team mentality also plays a big part...so you will notice that your players mentality can increase/decrease along with your tactic mentality...example, positive team mentality with your central midfielder on CM(a), your CM(a) player mentality will now be "Very Attacking", this may allow him to play more directly/risky passes. But if you decide to drop team mentality to balanced, then your CM(a) may drop to Attacking/Positive

also team instructions, focussing through the middle can increase your central players mentality.

To give another angle ...training.
Check which position they are playing in training because you can help them become better in a position the more practice time they have in that position.

Just a little extra something to add on to the above stuff. All that stuff is good as well.

You are Dortmund so you would have a superior side 90% of the time. I would choose Positive or Attacking as a base team mentality. Your player roles are too attacking for my liking, I would prefer to see a defensive role in one of your centre mids for example. That would help with general balance, ball retention and make you less open to the counter.

TI's wise, well what kind of football would you like to play? Pressing, counter, short or long passing, build your style & go from there really. If you want some help with this then you can PM me if you like.

BBM & DLP is a good combo
what about AP(A) DLP(S) and A(D) would that work well in a 4-1-4-1 midfield to control possession and also stability defensively?
One too many playmakers, APA is better off being B2B or DPLS to BWMS.
