Starting as an unemployed former Sunday League player

With a passion for football and a desire to become a football manager I set out into the real world of football with nothing but experience playing Sunday league and a CV jam-packed full of successful careers on that game “Football Manager”. Hopefully someone will recognise my outstanding potential or at least feel some sympathy during this recession and give me a job.

Season 1 - Gimme a job! - 06/07/10

Busy day today, spoke to the Chairmen of Tamworth FC and he seems like a nice chap, its local too, only a half hour drive from home, wouldn’t mind becoming manager there.

Things didn’t go so well in Dundee where I was removed from the Chairman’s office by security for being “delusional”??? We‘ll see.

Phone interview with a dude from Oberhausen, my German’s not so good and neither is his English. I think he said “He will let me know”… Fingers crossed.

Good to see you're starting a new story already mate.

By the way, I've edited the OP (original post) to fix the thumbnail issues. Try to edit the post yourself and have a look at the code I've updated for you to see how the thumbnails actually work.

Using the bbcode directly from imageshack won't work here. Use the path of the thumbnail instead and copy it to the full path place removing the .th part.
As I've explained on your other thread, it's [ img=path-to-full-image ] path-to-thumbnail [ /img ] and it doesn't involve the [url][/url] tag; also try to avoid caps for the tags.

If you have any questions, PM me :)

Season 1 - 30 years old - 09/08/2010

30 years old today, still looking for a management position. Missed out on the Tamworth job and didn't hear anything from the other clubs. I'll keep looking, someones bound to get desperate eventually.

Season 1 - Havant & Waterlooville - 07/10/10

I’ve been offered a job by Havant & Waterlooville, the chairman was great and really impressed with my views on managing a football club and the plans I'd put forth.

Havant & Waterlooville are a semi-professional Blue Square South side currently sitting in 20th place. Predicted to finish 5th and only 10 games in the Chairmen swiftly brought down the axe on former manager Shaun Gale. Suits me though, no more beans on toast. I managed to haggle up to £625pw and have a contract until the end of the season.

Time to stamp my authority on the club, I immediately arranged a meeting with the board and they granted my request for increased scouting range, increased wage budget and I got an extra physio position thrown in too. Sign new staff, sort out training and check out the squad.

The squad looks quite strong for a Blue Square South side. We seem like one of the best technically but one of the weakest physically. I’m confident I can get the clubs season started and move up the table. I’ll be looking to bring in a few players before the free transfer deadline.

Captain

Key Player

Judging from the league table our defense is particularly leaky, We have conceded the most goals and first priority is too make sure we tighten up the backline and get a good GK. Keeper Liam O'Brien has already accepted a contract and should be joining the team shortly.
Looks really good man, looking forward to more updates :)
A 10 points gap up to the 5th position and the playoffs and 1/4 of the season gone... it's a tough challenge.

I'd bring in some free transfers with physical skills (pace and stamina); in the lower leagues those 2 attributes matter the most I think - joannes3000 can definitely confirm this.

Nice to see you sorted out the thumbnails mate, good job!

Season 1 - Great Start - 01/11/10
http://img257.imageshack.us/i/havantwaterloovillefclo.jpg/
A beautiful start for me with Havant & W! Five wins in 5 games, all were close fought games but our incisiveness in front of goal, the uselessness of opposition keepers and the new found strength at the back has been the winning difference.

We’ve moved up in the league 5 points clear of the relegation zone and 5 points off the playoffs. Two wins in the FACup qualifiers means that in the 1st round proper we will play Tamworth!!! the club that rejected me in July! I’m looking forward to showing them what they missed out on.

Transfers
Changes were needed if the team was going to turn their season around and changes have been made! Out goes the overpaid deadwood (at a cost unfortunately) and in comes the future. The team looks far far stronger now and I’m willing to risk saying that we now have the best first team in the BSS.

O’Brien - GK - A must buy for any lower league manager. Determined, good potential and the ability to play at a higher level even at 18.

Morrissey - MC - A centre mid signed in place of the pensioners currently occupying midfield. Better, younger and less wages.

Cherno Samba - ST - Anybody remember this guy? I’m willing to give him a chance, great striker for BSS side and could be useful on the wing too. So far seems to have a knack for hitting the crossbar.

Support Sammy

My old friend Sammy McIlroy seems to be struggling at Morecambe at the moment, should I show my support or stab him in the back and declare my interest in his job?

Season 1 - New Years Day - 01/01/11
http://img257.imageshack.us/i/havantwaterloovillefclo.jpg/
Havant & W are back on track and the bad start to the season is long forgotten. Since I took over as boss in October we’ve had a 9 game unbeaten run in the league which ended on Boxing Day and have picked up an incredible 26 out of a possible 33 points. We climbed the table rapidly and currently sit just 1 point outside the playoffs in 7th place and only 6 points off 1st!

In the cups we beat Tamworth in a replay to reach the FA Cup 2nd round where we fought bravely but lost to Chesterfield. In the FA Trophy we have a 2nd round fixture against BSP outfit Eastbourne Boro to look forward too, I’m hoping we can go far in this competition and maybe even win it.

Key New Signings
More new players have arrived at Westleigh Park at the expense of the crappy players I inherited. The squad now looks far stronger than others with much more quality and depth, suprisingly the total wage bill is now lower!

All good defensive players that clearly have the ability to play at a higher level.

Key Player
Cherno Samba - ST - has been our best player since he joined in October, a particular highlight being his 4 goals against Dover and his cheeky lob for his 4th.

Aims
League
With the ground we’ve made up in the league and the obvious strength of the squad I genuinely expect to win promotion this season, anything less would be a disappointment.

FATrophy
This team can match anyone from the BSP and that’s why I expect to at least reach the quarter finals.

Season 1 - Ready for the Run In - 02/03/11
http://img257.imageshack.us/i/havantwaterloovillefclo.jpg/
Considering my high hopes at Christmas January turned out to be a disaster, only 2 wins in 8 games including an exit from the FA Trophy. Morale was low, we were falling back down the table. And losing ground on 1st place.

February was much better, 4 wins in 5, some impressive scorelines and a climb into the playoffs at last! Eight points off top and with 30 points still to play for I’m hopeful of a title challenge and confident of at least a playoff finish.

Final Transfers
Despite having a full squad I couldn’t resist adding the quality of these guys to the side

Key Player
Sampson - ST - Has been consistently good up front all season and impressed in February with 3 goals.
Very nice presentation mate!
Good job returning to the playoffs zone as well.

Cherno Samba was a great prospect a few FM ago, and now only good for BS teams... not really the progress the researchers expected back in the day :P
Season 1 - Level on Points, 2 Games Left - 24/04/11
http://img257.imageshack.us/i/havantwaterloovillefclo.jpg/
I got offered a new contract the other day following a boardroom request, the board seem pleased with the job I’m doing here. I got them up to a nice round £1,000pw until 2013. I think I might get a new car with the pay rise.

Only two games of the season left now and currently we are… joint 1st! Welling have us beaten by their superior goal difference. Our excellent form is what has got us here with 10 wins from our last 12 games and I‘m impressed with the whole team. We have also secured a play-off spot which is good but I have both eyes firmly set on the title.

Key Player
Samba - ST - Brilliant form from the ex-wonderkid recently, 7 goals in 5 games and he has scored in each of his last five appearances.

Last games
Key players Sampson and Whelehan are out injured but our squad is strong enough to cope without them. Its crucial that we pick up maximum points from our last 2 games but even that might not be enough, let‘s hope Welling slip up.
That new car you're looking at is hilariously awesome :O :))
Welling will slip up I think ;)
Season 1 - Captain gets sacked - 26/04/11
http://img257.imageshack.us/i/havantwaterloovillefclo.jpg/
After leading 1-0 at half-time I was devastated to be 3-1 down by the final whistle. While I don’t like to place blame on people, the truth is captain Simpemba was at fault for all 3 goals. Playing the first scorer onside, losing his man for the second and conceding a penalty for the third topped off with a red card! In a fit of anger I promptly terminated his contract after the match and fortunately no-one seems to care.

With regards to the league table the result wasn’t too bad… Welling slipped up too! This has allowed Braintree to climb into 1st and with just one more game to play there are three teams with a realistic chance of claiming the title. Dover sit in 4th hoping for a 12-0 win and lots of luck.

Looking forward to see more from you mate. Observing somebodies LLM carreer is entertaining ;)
