Thanks for your answers!I have less doubts now. I'm going to answer some of your messages:

Evo: Ok, i imagine you have experience on editing players and you have made "try and error" until get this conclusion, so i apply your advice. I still have one doubt:
It's the same thing to change 5 points of key atributes than 5 points of normal atributes?(I increase the striker skills 5 points between finishing and other key skills and i increase 5 points between marking and tackling. Then, i have to increase one CA point en each situation?)I think 5 key points should be more than 1 CA point(more or less like ratings in Genie)

Sun_chris:Ok, i understand. If i increase 15 points of atributes in total, then i have to increase 3-4 points of CA more or less. And if you increase more points of CA than you should(cause of increasing skills)then the game will increase more skills but...it will keep your changes? And when you only increase the CA and not the skills, the game will only increase the skills when you start a game, but also in the editor(this is an important point if you edit a lot of players, becasue then you won't know what players have the correct relation CA-skills and which of them not.

Meister: I know it's a huge database and, in general, with good ratings but if you study the database deeply, it has a lot of small wrong skills or something like that. Besides there are a lot of young players who are unknown at the beginning of the season and now, they are important in their teams/leagues. The best example is Borussia Dortmund. I think SI researchers do a great job, but there are always new stars or other things.
I have a question about this.

I try to make a new league so i have to create new players. I got statistics but I do not know how to count ca ability. do u have any idea about that?
anyone? :O
@leguello: The thing is, no researcher can predict if a player will outperform is expectations before the season. This is the case with teams like Dortmund or players like Carroll or Bale.
Got a question in relation to the CA/PA discussion. I was wondering if someone knows wich PA an young player with -10, -9, -8 etc. gets in FM 11?
-10 = 170-200
-9 = 150-180
-8 = 130-160
-7 = 110-140
-6 = 90-120
-5 = 70-100
-4 = 50-80
-3 = 30-60
-2 = 10-40
-1 = 0-20

Those are the attribute ranges that a player with a negative potential can be assigned to.

Of course, this is the main reason which would be better if someone create a good pregame editor to fix this. After that, i think SI researchers have a lot of accuracy with data in general(statistics, wage...) but i think the rates of players are ok but not great. For instance Muller, one of the best players of the Worl Cup, has 153 of CA, the same as Abbiati or Conca. It isn't very realistic. I want to say that researchers work is awesome but they always have mistakes, and in a huge database, these mistakes multiply their quantity.
You can't base how good a player is only by his WC performance.

Thanks Meister :)

I'm agree iwth you but Muller also did an amazing season in Bayern Munich. I have talked about WC because was the most important tournament last season but he played very well arriving at the Champions league final with Bayern.

I think they should have a CA of 162-165 aprox, and if i only think about WC, then they would have to rate about 180(once of the best 5 players in that competition).
I know how he played last season being a Bayern München supporter, but for now I think his ability should be 158-160.
It seems there is a delicate balance between CA and attributes so it might be wise to be careful when editing. Its obvious that constantly increasing attributes without looking at the CA will make them decrease dramatically in a few days so I no longer edit attributes has I did back in FM2005 and 2006. But I recommend lowering all GK attributes to 1 when editing outfield players to start with. Every time you increase a attribute by one point you might want to consider lowering other attribute (a less important one). Sometimes you may lose control of the mathematic behind it and this may be a good hint to avoid that.

Anyway, that's just my opinion...
Am confused by this thread...
So, if I add 1 point to a players CA, how many 'skill' (technical, mental, physical) points can I add?

Does a players CA encompass those hidden attributes such as consistency, loyalty etc etc?
