I agree with Baines as decent option for DL.
My UK suggestions by position:

DL
- Lee Wallace, Michael Lumb (English/Danish) or Brian Easton.
- Jack Robinson or Luke Garbutt as far future options at DL, but you'd have to focus training them at pace to make it worthwhile.
- Ryan Bertrand also a far future DL option, pacey and very consistent.

DC
- Phil Jones, Danny Wilson or Jordan Spence to replace Gallas immediately.
- Matthew Connolly as near future option, need focus on pace training.

DR
- Nathan Clyne or Seamus Coleman for near future options.
- Christian Ribeiro for far future, needs focus on crossing.

DM / MC
- Jack Rodwell to rotate with Huddlestone.
- Chris McCann for backup of Modric.

MC / AMC
- James McArthur to rotate with VDV in the near future (extremely consistent), but would probably need pace focus.
- Jack Collison for rotation.
- James McCarthy for near future option.

That's enough for now. Hope you find the suggestions useful :)
Thanks Stam and en marz3y95, I'll keep an eye on the players you suggested and then see who's looking good come January! But now it's preseason time:

Preseason

vs Pfullendorf (A)
3:0
G. Dos Santos
W. Palacios (2), MOM

vs SVW Mannheim (A)
3:0
Sandro (2), MOM
L. King

vs Bielefeld (A)
3:0
J. Defoe
A. Lennon, MOM
G. Bale

vs Sheffield Utd (A)
2:2
T. Huddlestone
R. Keane
(J. Jenas MOM)

vs Leyton Orient (A)
1:1
H. Kane
(D. Bentley MOM)

vs Coventry (A)
0:1

vs Manchester City (H)
0:0

A decent, although not outstanding preseason. I already have a first team in mind so I mostly just tried blooding some youngsters and giving my senior players some game time. Given my transfer policy I will need to give any decent talent as much experience as possible.

Transfers
Out

K. Walker. Stoke (loan)
A good player with potential who I would have liked to keep in my squad. But unlike Naughton he cant play LB and thus wouldn's make it into my 25 man squad. Will be getting 1st team at Stoke.

S. Bassong. Valencia (loan)
Maybe taking a bit of a risk offloading 2 CB's given my current players susceptibility to injuries but again I cannot make room in my squad for Bassong so it's better that he gets some game time elsewhere.

Y. Kaboul. Sevilla (loan)
Again with Kaboul he will need game time to develop.

I would have liked to offload R. Keane on loan, but there wasn't anyone interested so I suppose he can just rot in my reserves. I will be ridding myself of Keane in the January transfer window.

I also brought in a number of staff:

R. Prosinecki
M. Bonini
J. Vetere
B. Eastick
A. Gibson (Assistant Manager)

Also come the season proper my match reports will be much more detailed and include assists and other incidents. Would you guys prefer the goal scorers etc to be listed in a center justified text or as they are above?
Great to see you give Kane a run out hes got talent although i do feel he wont develop enough to be part of your first team (Im speaking from past experience there), i do think you can get a good 6 million for him when hes fully developed, also its fine the way the goalscorers are listed above. I like the risk your willing to take sending two centre backs on loan considering it could backfire badly, if it pays off though im sure it will be worth it come the end of the season.
My favourite part of this is old red nose being found out! That shady wheeler dealer.

Please keep us updated on his court process and outcome.
THE PLOT THICKENS

Harry Redknapp won't surrender easily

Ex-Spur boss Harry Redknapp caused a stir resterday when he pleaded not guilty to charges of bribery and corruption. The manager instead accused the Football Association of a conspiracy to maintain the 'big four' domination of the Premier League.

David Gil, a Manchester United executive and board member of the FA has told the press the allegations are "spurious in the extreme and completely misleading". Other football commentators have branded the allegations "doubtful" and a desperate smokescreen by Mr Redknapp to save face.

The trial is ongoing.
Hi all,

Sorry for not uploading anything recently. Since Uni has returned I havent found much time for football manager... D: Not to worry though there's plenty more to come in this juicy season! :)

BA
Being a Spurs fan I always start the new FM playing as Spurs boss and find it very easy to dominate the prem and europe, especially when you usually get a new stadium built for you after 3 or 4 years (lots more income through season tickets and match day ticket sales).

I've also noticed Levy usually leaves after 5 years and you get a new chairman and board.

Good luck with your adventure, I will enjoy reading it.
August

vs Celtic (H)
2:0

Pavlyuchenko (2) MOM

Lennon

Solid win against what is a decent Celtic side. This cushion should be more than enough to see us through to the Group Stage. Pavlyuchenko worked well in the 4-5-1.

vs Blackpool (H)
4:0

Pavlyuchenko (2)
King (2) MOM

Bentley
Modric (2)
Van der Vaart

Brilliant way to start the EPL season as Pav' netted twice again. Looking really solid off set pieces too.

vs Celtic (A)
1:0

Pavlyuchenko

Dos Santos

A hard earned victory in an ill tempered encounter. Celtic's Scott Brown got himself sent off in the 42nd minute for 2 yellow cards, before Palacios did the same in the 77th. Pav's now scored 5 in 3, what a machine!

vs Manchester City (A)
0:2

Lennon's 6th minute own goal knocked a fair bit of confidence out of my side, and some of the younger players looked particularly deflated. Never really got going. We will need to do better against the 'big 4'.

August Review

A workmanlike start to the season. Very happy with our 3-0 aggregate win over Celtic as our defense was solid and we perhaps should have won by more.

The Premier League kicked off with a fantastic 4-0 win over Blackpool. I'm hopeful that this will be indicitive of my teams ability to finish off teams with lower reputations than ours, which will be crucial if we are to clinch a Champions League place. Our defeat to City was perhaps not as bad as it looked. The midfield played reasonably well, and whilst we didn't manage to score we did create a few chances. Lennon's early own goal was a bit of a shock and some of the less experienced players seemed to struggle a bit afterwards. This was marked by a particularly poor display by Ekotto, who will require monitoring.
Good result to beat Celtic 3-0 on aggregate but the 2-0 defeat to City might just be indicating that to be a main contender in the top 4 positions you need to strengthen your side a bit. Main reson im saying this is that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United will undoubtly be better than you at the moment but City are the ones you will be fighting with for fourth spot and to get that spot i would say Ekkoto will have to go he is awful on my save game and by the sounds of it he isnt much different on yours.

Anyways congrats on what you achieved this month and you have done well to get Pavlyuchenko scoring on a regular basis, lets hope he keeps it up.
September

vs Blackburn (A)
2:1

Gallas
Lennon (MOM)

Van der Vaart

Our set piece prowess was again evident today with Gallas' goal coming from a Van der Vaart corner. Pavlyuchenko was worryingly average again today, and Defoe seemed to link in far better when he was brought on in the second half.

vs AC Milan (A) UCL
1:1
Modric

Defoe

(Gomes, MOM)

An excellent performance tonight against what is a very good Milan side, who's only goal was from Gallas' error! Defoe again proved why his inclusion helps the team more than Pavlyuchenko.

vs West Brom (A)
1:0

Gallas

Modric

Another goal from a corner.

vs Hartlepool (A) Carling Cup
3:1

Pavlyuchenko (3) MOM

Sandro
Jenas

A day to remember for Pavlyuchenko as he netted a hat trick. This however did nothing to dispell my belief that he is not cut out for the top level. Some solid performances against bigger teams will be needed to displace Defoe.

vs Fulham (H)
4:1

Bale
Modric
Pavlyuchenko
Bentley (MOM)

Bentley (2)
Bale

Probably our best match so far! The win sends us 6th with a game in hand on all five teams above us. Bentley was imperious on the right wing, his crosses delivered perfectly. Playing Defoe and Pavlyuchenko in a 4-4-2 also worked as I retained the heading and composure of Pav with the movement of Defoe.

vs Shakhtar Donetsk (H) UCL
2:1

Pavlyuchenko
Defoe

Modric (2) (MOM)

An important win as it sends me top of my group on 4 points, level with AC Milan. Modric has been laying on the assists in past matches and this game was no exception, a fine performance.

September Review

Several great performances this month that have set me up well in all competitions. Our 3 league wins resulted in me being awarded Manager of the month.
October

vs Wigan (A)
1:0

Bentley

Bale

Another game in which we dominated, if it were not for MOM Kirkland we would have won by more. Bentley has been turning in some world class performances recently.
DISASTER STRIKES

Pavlyuchenko could be out for some time

Roman Pavlyuchenko, Tottenham's leading goal scorer so far this season with 10 goals in as many appearances has been ruled out for around 2-3 months. The Russian forward tore his knee ligaments in a European Qualifier group stage match against Ireland. The forward opened the scoring in the 18th minute but had to be stretchered off the field during the 36th minute. Leading football analysts believe the injury could be a major setback to the Spurs' title ambitions.

# Shector1047 : Want any tips on young players just ask im in 2018/19 season.

Thanks for the offer and I must say I am extremely tempted but I will refuse on ethical grounds. It's sort of cheating in my book.
vs Newcastle (H)
4:0

Huddlestone (2)
Defoe (2) MOM

Hutton (2)
Van der Vaart

Fabulous performance from my players who seem to really be gelling in the 4-4-2. Huddlestone's goals were both crackers from outside the area and he probably deserved man of the match. We are now 1 point clear at the top with a game in hand!

vs FC Twente (H) UCL
5:1

Huddlestone
(Douglas og)
Van der Vaart
Lennon, MOM
Krancjar

Lennon
Huddlestone (2)
Defoe
Van der Vaart

Great win to set us up well in our group.

vs West Ham (A)

UNBELIEVABLE!!! A magnificent performance by the Spurs at Upton Park! Can anyone stop us in this vein of form!?
