League Game – Sunderland A – 24/08/13

As my team played well in the first game I decided to stick with the same 11.

4-2-3-1
Line Up - David de Gea, Fábio, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Jordi Alba, Tom Cleverley, Anderson, Eden Hazard, Wayne Rooney, Mario Götze, Javier Hernández
Subs Used – Kyle Walker, Ashley Young, Nani

Went behind early when Ismaël Bangoura scored after just two minutes. Then a bit of magic by Hazard on the wing who provided an accurate cross for Hernández so score his first of the season. Then lovely play between Alba and Anderson on the left that created space in the centre of the park for Anderson who played in Fábio who ran at the defence before scoring from a tight angle. Hazard was then again the provider for Hernández who completed the scoring after 29 minutes. So a good 1-3 win away from home.
I have actually spent the last hour reading through all 28 pages of this blog and I can't actually find the words to describe how great a read it has been. Superb dedication to keeping this going for so long as I know exactly how frustrating FM can be at times.

Anyways keep up the great work mate as it has definately inspired me to try and play as in depth as you have achieved during your reign as Uniteds supremo.

Any quick tips or advice you could lend me to get started?

Thank you for the kind words, I am glad that you enjoy it and I will be updating this till FM 2012 is out.

The only tip that I can give is to trust young players because with good coaching/tutoring and playing time good young players can become great young players. As I have done with Pogba and Cleverley.

Also the importance of a good balanced squad. Players like Anderson, Fletcher, Evans, and Welbeck may not have the best attributes but they never moan about not playing and when they do they do perform well.

Try not to buy loads of players in one window as they disrupt the squad. Only look to bring in 4 at any one time (excluding players that go straight into the under 18's).

Finally make sure you have at least 2/3 formations that you can play as this will allow you to change depending on the players available or team you are playing.

Good luck in your career.

It was around 17k but he signed a new contact before I sent him on loan. I have high hopes for him. Played well last season.

European Super Cup – Chelsea – 30/08/13

Again started with the same 11.

4-2-3-1
Line Up - David de Gea, Fábio, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Jordi Alba, Tom Cleverley, Anderson (replaced by Kyle Walker on 63 minutes), Eden Hazard (replaced by Nani on 82 minutes), Wayne Rooney, Mario Götze (replaced by Ashley Young on 82 minutes), Javier Hernández
Suns Not Used - Anders Lindegaard, Jack Rodwell, Paul Pogba, Danny Welbeck

Chelsea 4-2-3-1
Thibaut Courtois, Branislav Ivanović, John Terry, Kader Mangane, Ryan Bertrand (replaced by Ashley Cole on 63 minutes), Raul Meireles (replaced by John Obi Mikel on 75 minutes), Ramires, Hulk, Frank Lampard (replaced by Juan Mata on 75 minutes), Ángel di María, Salomón Rondón
Suns Not Used - Matej Delač, Romelu Lukaku, Salomon Kalou and Ryad Boudebouz

The game started well when Rooney (who has been playing in the AMC role) scored a superb solo effort after just 7 minutes. Then Fábio was given a straight red so I took of Anderson and replaced him with Walker (who went to RB) and played a 4-4-1 with Götze and Hazard on the wings and dropped Rooney into the CM role with Cleverley. Then in the 26 minute Chelsea were attacking and my defence won the ball back and Rooney went round Kader Mangane with ease and made it 2-0. Then just after half time, Chelsea’s new signing Salomón Rondón scored from a corner. However my defence remained strong and after good play by Götze on the wing the ball came to Cleverley who scored the all-important third goal.

So I can add this to the trophy cabinet.
Transfer News - Adnan Januzaj has joined Scunthorpe on loan for 3 months. I let him go out on a short-term loan because he will get good match experience and hopefully improve as a player.
Transfer News – Real Madrid have offered 30 million for Vidić, I went back to them and said that I want 47 million. Now normally I would have accepted the original offer (due to the players age) but it was on the last day of the transfer window and it would not have left me any cover, however if they want to pay £47 million I would accept. I do have very good defenders in my under 18’s but they are still only 16 and 17.
Transfer Round Up – The biggest move was by Arsenal who paid £19.75 million to Anzhi Makhachkala for Yuri Zhirkov. In second place was Salomón Rondón who signed for Chelsea for £17.5 million from Málaga. However it was Liverpool who spent the most spending £65 million, but it was Stoke who was the busiest team buying 12 players for £45.5 million and selling 13 players for £41 million. This was due to Tony Pulis taking over at Tottenham as Harry Redknapp retired and Steve McClaren took over at Stoke.

Liverpool signed Daniel Sturridge for £5.5 million, Bryan Ruiz for £15 million, Andriy Yarmolenko for £12.75 million, Sébastien Corchia for £15.25 million, Douglas Costa for £13.25 million, Ross Turnbull for £2.6 million and László Köteles for £180.000.

Man City signed Carlos Kameni for £2.8 million and Oliver Markoutz on a free transfer. I was surprised that they did not go for Luka Modrić.

Tottenham signed Katlego Mphela and Ryan Shawcross from Stoke for £9 million and £13.5 million respectively. They also signed Gpran Pandev for £975.000 and Simon Pouplinfor £400.000.

Arsenal Signed paid £19.75 million for Yuri Zhirkov and 2.5 million for Geert Grroot.

Chelsea signed Ryad Boudebouz for £825.000, Salomón Rondón for £17.5 million and Gökhan Gönül for £17.75 million. They also let Michael Essien leave on loan and he joined Everton.

I'm guessing Real Madrid didn't make a renewed offer for Vidic then? You definitely did the right thing so late in the window

Can you post a picture of Stevie May's progress (I think he's from St Johnstone, I've just signed him for Southampton in season 1)
Transfer News – Real Madrid decided not to bid £47 million for Vidić.
Injury News – Brady injured on international duty and he will be out for a month.
Injury News – Evans injured on international duty and he will be out for a around month.
League Game – Aston Villa A – 14.09.13

4-2-3-1
David De Gea, Kyle Walker, Phil Jones, Nemanja Vidić, Rafael, Paul Pogba, Jack Rodwell, Nani, Mario Götze, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney
Subs Used – Danny Welbeck, Federico Macheda, Mateo Kovačić.

A good 0-1 win with Rooney scoring the winner however Vidić was sent off after a poor pass from Rafael left Vidić no choice but to make a professional foul.
