Eastleigh FC Story!

Expectations were changed by the board and I should we could get promotion. So wage budget was increased and I went back to the Danish International squad as I noticed a couple before that I couldnt afford so now I will be going in for them in the January window.

when i wrote that, november was the last update, so december was a better month for you, keep it up and you could get promoted!

January

2 new signings like I promised. Two players from the Danish under 21s Jorgensen and Olsen. These two signings should give me that extra boost to win the league.

Eastleigh 2:0 Luton
Great home win to start the new year and both new signings worked very hard indeed and look real coups already. Rowe and Doble were on the scoresheet against a great Luton side.

Eastleigh 3:1 Stockport
Big win for us and a bit of revenge too. I was distraught when we didn’t get anything away from Stockport at the start of the season so this is a lovely win to get against one of the strongest teams in the league, Adam got a hat trick once again and we also had 60% of the ball in the game.

Newport 1:1 Eastleigh
Not brilliant but always good to get points away and considering my last two results I will brush this off as they have been working so hard recently. However we do have a big game next week away to Macclesfield.

Macclesfield 3:1 Eastleigh
Expected this result in all honesty. They are probably the best team in the league and showed it the whole game. We need to put this game behind us and move onto the next and get some wins again.

Eastleigh 3:0 Truro (FA Trophy 2nd Round)
Comfortable victory against a lower division team. Nice to get through this cup again and hopefully we can go onto win it. Everybody wants a trip to Wembley

Eastleigh 2:1 Hayes & Yeading
56% possession in this game which is probably the reason for the win. Annoyed to concede in this game and we have not kept a clean sheet for a while in the league so hopefully we can get one soon.

Kidderminster 1:3 Eastleigh
A very surprising win as Kidderminster are a very good side and currently lying in the playoffs. However with 3 shots on target and 3 goals the finishing was brilliant. Doble with 2 of them to prove why he was rated so highly at the start of the season.

Monthly Summary: 13/18 points is very good this month. As we played some huge teams, the new signings will bolster the squad well and finally give it some depth.

February

Eastleigh 1:0 Braintree
Husband the only goal scorer in this game with a 30yard screamer. Finally keeping a clean sheet in the league is always welcome. Good solid 3 points.

Eastleigh 1:0 Welling (FA Trophy 3rd Round)
De ja vu. Once again Husband the only scorer but this time the goal wasn’t as special however it was once again enough for the win and into the 4th round we go.

Alfreton 1:1 Eastleigh
Doble with the goal In this game but we always looked like we needed another. Alfreton defended well and in the end deserved a goal. This is indeed 2 points lost thought as Alfreton are a very weak team in this highly competitive league.

Eastleigh 0:2 Ebbsfleet
WOW! They were on the brink of playoffs but in this game they looked two divisions higher. They played us off the park and deserved to win by more than 2. There is always a game in the season to wake the team up and it will be this one for sure.

Fleetwood 1:0 Eastleigh
Surely we aren’t going to let this high flying start slip. We didn’t deserve to lose this but it’s all about points and we need to be more clinical in front of goal and be more ruthless.

Eastleigh 1:0 Blyth
Awful game but as I said in the previous week it’s all about the points which is what we got in this encounter. Doble got it and Blyth never looked like scoring with them only having 39% of the ball all game.

Telford 1:1 Eastleigh
Dreadful result Doble scoring again but Telford only had one shot on target and took it. Not a great way to end the month.

Monthly Summary: Looking back it’s probably my worst month in charge of Eastleigh which I believe is a fair assessment. Only 2 league wins but it keeps us in the top 3.

March

Eastleigh 1:1 Woking (FA Trophy 4th round)
Woking 0:1 Eastleigh (FA Trophy 4th round replay)
I decided to write this two up together. The first game was very annoying as a draw just meant another midweek game to my massive fixture list. However I played a slightly weakened team in the replay and Tom Parkes (CB) ended up getting the clincher in the 110minute. Fantastic to win and a massive push towards Wembley.

Eastleigh 4:1 Southport
After destroying them away from home the visitors indeed came for revenge. Unfortunately for them all they found was an Eastleigh team who have promotion in their minds and the goals quickly followed. Good home win against one of the worst sides in the league.

Eastleigh 4:0 Gloucester (FA Trophy Semi Final 1st leg)
Massive step towards Wembley against a team the league below. Gloucester have done brilliantly to reach this far and have beaten some big Conference teams up to this game. However we just had that extra bit of class and touch to win this game and hopefully give us an easy game in the second leg.

Forest Green 1:1 Eastleigh
Very annoying to draw when we know the last game of the month will be tricky. But Forest Green are 6th so I’m sure it will be looked back as a very good point if we get 3 next week.

Eastleigh 2:1 York
PHEW! Well once again we have somehow beaten York. I think they are the best team in this league as they have destroyed us both games and not got anything. We had 2 shots to their 18 but that’s what champions do they pick up points where other teams would not have gained anything.

Month Summary: The obvious bonus is that we should be guaranteed a trip to Wembley at the end of the season. The league games this month were good as we were unbeaten and got valuable points against top teams.

April

Gloucester 0:1 Eastleigh (FA Trophy Semi Final 2nd leg)
A weakened team but a comfortable victory to send us easily to Wembley where we will play York in the final.

Eastleigh 3:0 Wrexham
Great start to the crucial and final month of the season. Clean sheet and 3 more goals to the GD against one of the playoff contenders. Watkins scored all three, he is normally a winger but as Doble got injured he has been playing striker and doing very well.

Cheltenham 0:0 Eastleigh
WOW! Unbelievable point against 2nd in the league. They had a mammoth 69% possession and I was down to 10men after 14 minutes. Once again my team have shown there resilience at the back and managed to get that extra point to keep us top of the league.

Eastleigh 1:2 Lincoln
Dreadful loss at home at such a late stage of the season. The only good news to come from this game is that Cheltenham only drew in there game.

Eastleigh 2:0 Gateshead
Back on track, Adam gets both the goals to put us in complete advantage to win this league. Only two games remain and 4 points is enough to win the league.

Barrow 2:2 Eastleigh
We do not make it easy for ourselves. Very competitive game and in the end I think we were lucky to even get a point. Cheltenham once again failed to capitalise by only drawing as well. Meaning we only need to draw the last game of the season to become back to back champions.

Eastleigh 2:1 Macclesfied
YYYYEEESSS!!! WE ARE FOOTBALL LEAGUE LA LA LA LA!! Amazing win and accomplishment. We dominated the game with 59% possession. I got very nervous when they scored but I really fired up my team in the build-up and they responded.

Monthly Summary: Well what can I say this month has been very nervous indeed. Got to Wembley but most important won the league. I don’t think we were a lot better than the top 4 teams however we picked up 6-8 crucial points on our travels that they just could not muster up. We now get a 10 day rest and prepare for Wembley

Final plus end of year summary

Eastleigh 2:0 York

WREY!! Domestic double, York will be sick of the sight of me this season. But we actually deserved to bea them this time. Ahmed and L'Anson with the goals to make it a glorious day.

Summary of the season: Could not want more from this season. Domestic double is incredible and never thought we would achieve both of them with the size of our squad. Cannot wait for League 2 but looking at my team I dont think it will be the most successful season next year.

Now for the signings I believe are very good for next season. One in particular as when I said approch to sign I screamed loudly to the fact he wanted to join me. Look for the Czech republic man

Board: Avoid relegation

Mine: Mid table maybe even a push for playoffs. I’ve studied my team and we should score plenty of goals but if injuries occur we will struggle to meet these ambitions.

August

Southend 1:0 Eastleigh
Not a great start but still a pleasing performance. We would have deserved a point if we scored. A lot of the new debutants played well and some great football was played.

Eastleigh 2:1 Brighton (League Cup 1st round)
My first game in the league cup and an amazing win. Adam and Adorjan were on the score sheet in a game that we probably just edged against a very good Championship team.

Eastleigh 2:0 Yeovil
Get in! Fantastic to get points on the board so early at home. Adam and Doble got the goals and the defence were brilliant allowing Yeovil not a single shot on goal.

Wimbledon 0:1 Eastleigh
Great follow up to last week with this win away from home. Centre back Tom Parkes got the goal with a brilliant header. Once more another clean sheet which is great for the team’s confidence.

Eastleigh 4:0 Walsall
Another clean sheet and bundles of goals. Jorgensen,Doble,Silny and Ntambwe with the goals proving we can score from all different areas of the pitch. Pleasing performance.

Everton 1:0 Eastleigh (League Cup 2nd round)
Good game and it’s nice to go out this early in the cup and still get a lot of money from this tie. Cahill got the goal for Everton and the players gave it everything.

Cambridge 1:2 Eastleigh
Brilliant win and this month has finished superbly after having not the greatest of starts. Silny and Doble with the goals to get 3 valuable points on the road.

Monthly Summary: Wow what a start to the football league. 12/15 points is unbelievable. The way we are playing my expectations will have to be changed to playoffs at least.
