I decided to field a weaker side and it showed. We did take the lead but then Chelsea stepped it up and battered us. Sandro scored our goal. We will need something special in the second leg if we want progress to the final.

The rotation policy seemed to backfire. We played reasonably well but came away with nothing which is a little disappointing. Rafael Van Der Vaart and Jermain Defoe scored our goals. We are still second in the league.

An amazing result. Not our strongest eleven so I am delighted with the performance that the players put in. Goals from Ledley King, Mateo Musacchio and a late one from Jermain Defoe gave us the victory. We progress to the final on away goals where we will meet Bristol City who knocked out Queens Park Rangers.
