Manchester City who were the biggest spenders, running up a total transfer bill of around £49M signed Luka Modric for a fee of £32.5M and Zdravko Kuzmanovic for £15.75M. Liverpool signed centre-back Simon Kjaer from Wolfsburg for £23M. Tottenham on the other hand parted with a reported figure of £14.75M in order to sign centre-back Jeffrey van Grinsven from PSV.
