Rooney scored vital goal

League Cup 4th Round - Tottenham Hotspur (A)

Formation: 4-3-3 (counter)

Line-Up: David De Gea, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Ashley Young, Anderson, Eden Hazard, Yaya Sanogo, Wayne Rooney, Federico Macheda

Following Tottenham 4-0 defeat in previous match, Harry Redknapp made few changes to his first eleven squad from the goalkeeper all the way up to striker and indeed it was a different Spurs side.

Manchester United were behind in the early minute when Jermain Defoe scores but Manchester United level the score through Wayne Rooney. Manchester United wasted a few clear cut chances and their finishing were disappointing. Manchester United were finally in front through Yaya Sanogo strike.

With minutes left to go, Jan Vertonghen equalised for Tottenham with a well struck effort. The match looks like it was going for an extra-time but Wayne Rooney blasted a fierce shot towards the top corner pass goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Manchester United won 3-2. A very good fighting spirit by the Red Devils.
