Bold move - any other jobs on the horizon that you would consider accepting?
Ross takes Athletic hotseat
Louis Ross has been offered the managerial role at Athletic Bilbao and is looking to build the club into a competitive force in the Spanish league. After finishing 6th last year they are in the Europa League so Ross will get another crack at conquering Europe's second tier competition.

with a budget of 34.5m and over 100k in wages to spend it seems a fairly simple task recruiting players, but as Athletic only sign basque players it narrows his transfer targets down massively!! thus making it hard to sell players as he may not get a replacement !

Athletic is the perfect challenge at the moment :) really want to manage in the dutch league though and if something comes up Ross WILL be applying!
My fascination is with the Russian and Croatian leagues, so I'll probably end up there when I have finished with Osasuna, but I'll need to read up about the foreign player restrictions...how did you find the MLS? I remember getting horribly upset once having bought a lot of players and then not being able to play them.

IRL it is where many of the young NZers go on scholarships, so has historically been a fantastic breeding ground for the All Whites.

Also looks like you are having a great deal of luck with the grid tactic, so well done!

I was looking at adding the Serbian league so I could take control of Red Star Belgrade! but think that is for a new save altogether!! I really liked the MLS! the playoffs are exciting and although I haven't experienced a transfer window it seems confusing ! Will be sure to read your story !

Grid tactics are going amazing for me the central striker scores so much! not sure if i will employ them for Athletic or not...
I'm still a fan of the good ole fashion 4-4-2 method, and the budgets have allowed me to go and recruit for two descent cheap or free CMs, and I have always set the strikers to poacher and trequartista and never had any real issues yet. When I see the tactic lose its edge, I'll look to the Grid, it certainly seems to be popular.

I started in 2020, so most of the players are re-gens and will just keep playing the one save, but like you, jumping around....just not with the same speed.

The Serbian League also sounds exciting, but for the moment, best of luck with Athletic Bilbao!!

4-4-2 seems to work on there! It is hard finding out and out wide midfielders though, many seem to be AMR or AML but I can see why it is successful! That's why I am so interested in your save as you've started later, how did you do that btw? just holiday it? or is there a way?
I have found there is a shortage of right defenders until the regens hit. I got lucky with my Maidenhead save and managed to get Flanagan on a free, and I am fundamentally opposed to paying over the odds for a descent player.

Wide midfielders do limit your style of play to an extent. If you have a specialist wide mid only, it means that you have one position and one player. I much prefer the idea of having a wide mid who can cover other positions as well. Many of my players (particularly with Osasuna I have found) can cover both the right and left AM roles, and the striking slot. Comes in particularly handy with injuries.

As for the starting in 2020, no magic bullet I'm afraid. Lots of holidays - two lots of five years, but I am finding it very rewarding, even if Derby got shot of me far too quickly in my opinion.

Athletic Bilbao have got their season under way with a 3-0 win and Ross has led them to Euro League qualification too with ZENIT, BURNLEY AND TROMSO in their group, progression should be simple and Ross is wanting to go all the way.

pre-season and early into the season.

Ross is hoping his team does well this year and barring injuries to key players he is confident of a good showing on all fronts
