Tranfer Hopes
With a tiny transfer budget and, in my opinion, very limited back up, the strength in depth of this squad could be a problem. I also notice that there are no full time central midfielders in the squad but lots of defensive midfielders and attacking ones.
So, the main positions I would aim to recruit in are:
GK: Weidenfeller may be good enough for a season, but he may not be good enough to build a footballing dynasty over a period of time, so Marc Andre ter Stegen or someone of that age or of very high quality will be thoroughly scouted to look for as a good gk for the next few years
RB+LB: Piszczek is a good full back, and i reckon i will probably use him as my regular right back throughout the season, as is Schmelzer at lb, who again i will hope to use regularly this season, but the cover is limited in my opinion, so someone like vrsaljko will be looked at for right back, and maybe pieters from psv for the left side, who i hope will be able to cover a bit at cb.
CB: Hummels and Subotic- two world class centre halves. But the cover is santana... one player. need more, but cant be so good that he wants regular match action because i want to be playing hummels and subotic. At the moment, Hubschmann from Shaktar looks a decent proposition, or Verthongen, who can also cover a few places.
CM: no full time centre mids at the moment, but i wont really need them in my formation i want to use this season (4-2-3-1 or 4-1-2-2-1), but someone like badelj could be a maybe.
RW: gotze, kagawa and leitner are clearly going to be the best attacking midfielders going in a few years time. gotze and kagawa are going to be starting every match they can (at least ones that arent dead rubbers), but leitner, in my opinion, will not be figuring much this year, because if i am to be playing gotze at left wing, i need a real, pure winger on the right side, which leitner isn't, so he shall be heading out on loan this season (i hope).
