Having just finished my first season as manager of Luton Town F.C I thought it would be good to start a story of my progress in the following season of 2012/13.

Season Review : 2011/12

The season of 2011/12 was most certainly a historical season for Luton Town Football Club; having once been a Championship side less than a decade ago, through a mixture of poor financial stability and pure bad luck have slipped down to the conference. I took over at the beginning of the club's 3rd season in the Blue Sq Bet Premier and given the club suffered play off heartache in the 2 previous seasons I was determined to get this great club back into the Football League.

I made 2 significant signings in Pre-Season. Speedy Right Winger - Chris Shuker on a free transfer and Young striker - Kwesi Appiah on a 6 month loan from Crystal Place.
Both these signings were extremely successful.

We spent the whole season in the top two and finished in 1st position and gaining automatic promotion. We played some very attractive football and scored some spectacular goals along the way - The pick of the goals was most certainly Amari Morgan Smith's incredible solo run from the half way line against York City.

This was an incredibly successful season and I very much hope that we can build on this to achieve a good position in league 2 next year.

I will keep you updated with my progress. :)

Hatters Secure Byrne in 2nd summer signing

Town drawn against Derby in League Cup

Luton have been handed a tough draw here against a championship side but we can be spurred on by the fact that we won this trophy back in 1988.

The current holders of the League Cup are Newcastle United under the management of Andre Villas Boas.
Sorry, I should have posted this earlier but this is the Blue Sq Bet Premier table from last season.

Pre-Season Friendlies

Oldham Athletic 2-1 Luton Town
Luton Town 2-1 West Ham United
Luton Town 2-0 FC Brussels

This was a very successful Pre-Season campaign- TThe highlight of course being The 2-1 home win against Premiership outfit West Ham in which we out played them in every area of the pitch. We played some draw dropping football and played very well in all 3 games especially the last two.

Our Npower League 2 campaign kicks off at Underhill versus Barnet. :)

Town add 3rd Summer Signing in Demontagnac

Town lose out to Barnet in close encounter

Barnet 2-1 Luton

Despite the result, this was a pretty solid performance and I think we deserved a draw. We found ourselves 2-0 down before half time but we performed much better in the second half. Morgan Smith clawed one back for us with a tidy finish but it was too late.

Luton

Morgan-Smith (79)

Demontagnac
Beckwith

Mark Byrne (Barnet) - 9.1

Hatters bring in Kadar on loan From Newcastle

This is a fantastic loan signing for us- I'm sure he will be a huge success.

how do you do the red headline thing? and good luck with your story :)

10 Man Luton stand frim to dominate Port Vale

Luton 2-0 Port Vale

Despite Janos Kovacs getting sent off after 15 minutes we dominated this game. Ishmel Demontagnac was outstanding and very much deserved his first goal for the club. Tamas Kadar (as expected) was a rock in the heart of our defence.

Luton

Demontagnac (52)
Crow (81)

Janos Kovacs (8,15)

Amari Morgan Smith

Ishmel Demontagnac (Luton) - 8.5

The Hatters left to rue missed chances against Burton

Burton Albion-1-1 Luton

This was a very disappointing result against a poor Albion side. We took the lead after 5 minutes through Chris Shuker and had numerous opportunities to extend our lead; but we wee made to pay as an Albion cross hit the back of Tamas Kadar and somehow ended up in the back of the net after 87 minutes.
We will be looking to put this to bed in our next fixture against Accrington at Kenny.

Luton

Shuker (5)

Kadar

Chris Shuker (Luton) - 7.6

Luton dominate Stanley

Luton 2-0 Accrington Stanley

This was our best performance to date- the stand out performer was Ishmel Demontagnac who scored both our goals; he didn't give their defence one single moments rest at all.

Luton

Demontagnac (1,89)

Ishmel Demontagnac (Luton) - 8.8

Derby ram Town out of League Cup

Luton 1-3 Derby

Derby were just too good for us really and they fully deserved their win.

Luton

Frank Fielding (6)

Jeff Hendrick (Derby) - 9.1
