Having just finished my first season as manager of Luton Town F.C I thought it would be good to start a story of my progress in the following season of 2012/13.
The season of 2011/12 was most certainly a historical season for Luton Town Football Club; having once been a Championship side less than a decade ago, through a mixture of poor financial stability and pure bad luck have slipped down to the conference. I took over at the beginning of the club's 3rd season in the Blue Sq Bet Premier and given the club suffered play off heartache in the 2 previous seasons I was determined to get this great club back into the Football League.
I made 2 significant signings in Pre-Season. Speedy Right Winger - Chris Shuker on a free transfer and Young striker - Kwesi Appiah on a 6 month loan from Crystal Place.
Both these signings were extremely successful.
We spent the whole season in the top two and finished in 1st position and gaining automatic promotion. We played some very attractive football and scored some spectacular goals along the way - The pick of the goals was most certainly Amari Morgan Smith's incredible solo run from the half way line against York City.
This was an incredibly successful season and I very much hope that we can build on this to achieve a good position in league 2 next year.
I will keep you updated with my progress.
