KuPS Manager Killed In Massacre - 10.11.13.
YLE - Amad gunman killed twenty-three people in Kuopio today with one of the casualties being high-profile manager Nick Heighway.
Desmond Miles (23) was charged with first-degree murder in twenty-three accounts. He walked in to S-Market in kuopio with an M16 Assault Rifle which was fully loaded. He opened fire on a large group of people killing twenty-three and injuring six. Amongst the dead included Nick HHeighway and his wife Sara Koivo-Heighway. The KuPS manager was shopping with his wife when this occured. This event has hurt Kuopion Palloseura and the entire footballing world. He was a well respected manager who was just offered the Chelsea job but rejected and decided to stay loyal.
Ari Lahti (KuPS Chairman): "The whole club is shocked by the murder of Nick and his wife. The players and the staff have taken his death badly and we are all mourning his loss. He is a legend and will always be remembered."
Investigations in to the massacre are currently on-going but it is likely that Desmond Miles will receive a life-time jail sentence.
