It is the start of the transfer window, and with the Olympics not starting until a month and a half later, I will have the opportunity to focus on transfer business and strengthening my squad for the upcoming Champions' League and Premier League campaign. This season, I hope to mount a serious title challenge to improve from last season's 4th place, and the board has given me a transfer kitty of 50 million. The first thing I want to do will be to make Cristian Tello's loan from Barcelona a permanent one before the loan contract expires at the end of June which is about 20 days from now.

I will also look to off-load some of the weaker players to bring in better ones, and some of the young players whom I feel won't make it will leave.

Finishing 4th with Liverpool is pretty good, Glenners. GOod job. And I reckon probably a good decision to manage Great Britain too. Good managerial experience for you. I won the Olympics with them, but unfortunately, for some reason, it didn't add too much to my reputation. I played Mexico in the final, it'd be interesting to see who you play in the final ... you ought to be able to reach the final. What tactics are you going to play? I played with England's favourite tactics ... 4-4-2.

England have crashed out of Euro 2012 at the hands of Italy in the Quarter Finals, losing 1-0 in extra time. Steven Gerrard has suffered an injury that will keep him out for a month.

Plans for a pre-season tour have been finalized and the boys will fly out to Spain on 5th of August to play two matches against Spanish sides Cordoba and Almeria, before returning to England on the 9th of August.

Meanwhile, Belgian side Genk will come to Anfield for a pre-season friendly and fellow English side Burnley will play us at Anfield as well a week after the Genk match.

I am stepping up on transfer business with my signing in January Donervon Daniels being shown the door after only six months at the club, joining Stoke City for a fee of 725k while Jack Robinson and Adam Morgan have both went on loan to Blackburn and Carlisle respectively.

Oriol Romeu has completed his move to Liverpool, and will wear the No. 6 shirt, the same number he wore at Chelsea. Everyone at the club welcomes Oriol to Liverpool and hope he has a successful time here.

With Robin van Persie's contract at Arsenal set to run out in a week and the Dutchman still refusing to sign an extension despite the Gunners' efforts to retain the services of their captain, I moved quickly for van Persie. Tony and I headed to London to discuss possibilities of the striker signing for Liverpool. The last time we came here we successfully finalized a deal for Oriol Romeu and I was hoping talks with van Persie would be as successful.

Van Persie was keen to move to a club like Manchester City or Manchester United, but with both Manchester clubs not registering any interest in him, Tony and I persuaded him to sign a three-year contract until 2015, and after some haggling with his agent, we got him to sign. The former Arsenal captain will earn 95k per week at Liverpool, a jump from his 80k per week at Arsenal, as well as a hefty loyalty bonus. He will make the move once his Arsenal contract expires on 30th June.

I have finally secured Cristian Tello's signature for a permanent deal, and the 20-year-old Spanish winger is now officially a Liverpool player.

With my short two-year contract set to expire in a year, Tom Werner wasted no time in offering me a brand new four-year contract, and also earning 72k per week, a jump from the previous 28k per week I earned. Tom was ecstatic that I signed and I was happy too. My vision for Liverpool was long-term and maybe one day I would be hailed by the Kop as a legend like Sir Alex Ferguson. It is maybe too early, but you never know.

Robin van Persie has officially completed his move to Liverpool and while every fan is excited about this new purchase, my decision to off-load Dani Pacheco and Joe Cole to Espanyol and Atletico Madrid respectively for 1 million each has also made fans confused. I can't blame them because Pacheco was rather solid last season and Joe Cole was a firm fan favorite, but they weren't part of my plans, so out they had to go.

I have set my sights on Porto's Alex Sandro, a 21-year-old Brazilian left-back. With Jack Robinson going on loan to Blackburn and Jose Enrique a tad bit inconsistent, I decided to get a new left-back and my South American and Portuguese scouts have immediately recommended me Sandro. A 17 million deal was thrashed out over the phone and I will be flying to Portugal to discuss personal terms.

The entire Liverpool squad have returned from vacation, and I have had a pre-season meeting between the coaching staff on which players should take set pieces and whatnot.

I am stepping up my chase for a right winger as Joe Cole has left the club, setting my eyes on Paris Saint-Germain's Ezequiel Lavezzi, who only joined the Ligue 1 champions last summer from Napoli for 22 million.

Contract talks with Alex Sandro were handled by my assistant Tony instead as I had to fly to France to discuss personal terms with Lavezzi, with Paris-Saint Germain accepting an offer of 22 million, the same price they paid for the Argentine forward.

As I touched down in Paris, Tony gave me a phone call.

"We've done it boss. Alex Sandro will sign for us, but I don't think he'll pass the work permit. If we appeal though there's a good chance it'll be accepted."

"Good job Tony," I said approvingly.

"Thanks boss, how's Paris?"

"I just touched down," I replied.

"Good luck with Lavezzi, he's a pretty world class player so it might probably be a hassle trying to accept his wage demands."

"Yes, I know that," I sighed. "Anyway, Paris should be lovely. I'll stay a day and negotiate the contract and be back tomorrow. You take charge of training for now. When's our friendly against Genk?"

"In a week, boss. Well see you tomorrow!"

I cut the call, and made my way out of the airport.

With the club sponsoring everything, I checked in at a glamorous hotel for one night, rested for awhile, and then phoning PSG officials that I would be coming down later in the evening to discuss personal terms with Lavezzi.

A meeting with Lavezzi and his agent resulted in Lavezzi agreeing to sign a four-year contract, seeing him earn 120k per week, making him joint top earner at the club along with our captain, Steven. His wage demands were pretty high but I am just satisfied we have managed to thrash something out.

As I returned to the hotel, Tony gave me a call to inform me that Charlie Adam, who had went on loan to Aston Villa last winter, has chose to made his loan permanent with Aston Villa paying 2 million to us, while Nathan Eccleston has moved on a free transfer to Scunthorpe.

Spain have won the European Championship 2012, beating surprise package Ireland in the Final 2-0.

Ezequiel Lavezzi has officially joined the club in a 22 million deal and will wear the No 18 shirt.


Alex Sandro, who joined Porto only last summer, has also joined the club on a 17 million deal. The Brazilian left-back was highly recommended and he will wear the No 17 shirt for Liverpool.


Meanwhile, Peter Gulacsi has returned from his loan spell at Sporting without playing a game and he will now move on loan to Barnsley with a 950k future fee.
