Olympics: Final
Great Britain U23s and
Gary Neville have clinched their Olympic Gold with a brilliant 4-2 win over Brazil U23s.
Wayne Rooney was the star of the show, bagging four goals against the Brazilians as the British came back from 1-0 down to win the game superbly.
After the match, Neville spoke to Sky Sports.
"Manchester United are a great club, and they are lucky to have a player like Wazza," said Neville. The former United captain manages Malaga and coincidentally United played Malaga in a pre-season friendly match last week, a match taken over by Malaga assistant manager
Tony Coton with Neville out of the country.
Los Boquerones won the game 1-0 through a penalty.
"Wazza is the type of player who can create a goal out of nothing."
Congratulated by the journalists on winning the Olympics with Great Britain, Neville replied, "yeah well, I am delighted to have won my first trophy as a manager. But I am also happy that I can now return to Spain and focus on club business with Malaga."
This will signal the end of the Great Britain team until the forseeable future, with the English Football Association yet to decide if the same team will play in Rio 2016.
