The January transfer window has opened and this is my opportunity to rebuild the Malaga squad into one of my own, unfortunately I only have 7 million to spend so I might have to buy and sell, and also get in a couple of loans.

Defender deals for Malaga as Neville complete first signings

Malaga manager Gary Neville has announced the signing of 24-year-old Juan Forlin from Espanyol in a 4 million deal. The Argentine, formerly of Boca Juniors, had grown disillusioned with his career at Espanyol and is said to have been frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities and frequently quarreled with manager Mauricio Pochettino. Forlin will wear the No 4 for Malaga.

Neville has also confirmed the signing of 22-year-old Uruguayan right-back Adrian Guninho from Fenix, for a fee of 800k. Guninho, who started his career at Danubio in the Uruguay First Division, has played for clubs like Boca Juniors in Argentina and Toulouse FC in France, and he will wear the No 11 for Malaga.

Meanwhile, fellow Uruguayan, Sebastian Fernandez, has been shipped out on Malaga on loan to Bolton with a view to a permanent deal, after being told by Neville that the 26-year-old striker wasn't in his long-term plans for the club. Cameroonian keeper Carlos Kameni has also been sold for 2 million to English club Southampton.

Midfield enhanced as Neville complete loans

Malaga manager Gary Neville has completed the loan signing of Valencia's out-of-favor midfielder Alberto Costa. The Argentine, who expressed a desire to stay at Valencia even after being publicly announced to be available for transfer, will link up with Malaga until the end of the season, and will wear the No 14.

Meanwhile, Neville has also signed English winger Marc Albrighton from Aston Villa on loan. The 22-year-old requested a transfer away from Villa Park after falling out with manager Paul Lambert, and will now stay in Spain for at least until the end of the season. He will wear the No 25 for Malaga.

Nice signings Glenn! Do you think you'll be able to get an Europa league spot or better?

By the way, i'd just like to say how much i like reading your stories - they are always so nicely formatted and the updates don't take very long at all - your one of the best story writers on FMscout.

Well done.

I would if I had the money :P
Got a feeling I have an outside chance of achieving a European spot, but at the moment I am lingering around mid-table so that's going to take awhile.

Neville back to England?

Just months after taking over Malaga, part-time England manager Gary Neville has revived the Spanish club's fortunes, with Neville guiding the club out of the relegation dog-fight at the bottom, while also masterminding a Copa Del Rey win against league leaders Real Madrid. He has also managed to get the best out of the youngsters at Malaga, with players like Juanmi and Recio turning in superb performances under his guidance.

This is not attracting potential suitors apparently, and now Liverpool, are the front runners to employ the England boss.

Yes, you heard this correctly. Liverpool. With Brendan Rodgers seemingly not going to renew his contract at Anfield, American chairman Thomas Werner has already identified replacements, and Neville is tipped to be one of them.

To get Neville to sign a contract with Liverpool, though, would be quite a challenge.
Come jump on the bandwagon!
January
A very good month for us as we progress all the way through to the Copa Del Rey Semi Finals. We also move up the La Liga table, and the month is only marred by an embarrassing 5-3 loss to Rayo.

8th in La Liga!

The transfer window is also closed and my transfer business is done for the season.

Neville commits near future to Malaga

The England boss has slammed rumors that he would leave Malaga as early as next month, with a host of Premier League clubs on the 36-year-old's tail, whose 37th birthday is just next week.

Newcastle, who recently fired Alan Pardew, are rumored to be very interested in appointing Neville as manager and so is Liverpool, whose manager Brendan Rodgers looks set to leave at the end of the season.

"I am staying at Malaga," said Neville in an interview with Spanish newspaper Marca. "I would be very interested in coaching in England, but I already have a fabulous job with the England national team. Managing in England would be a possibility in the future but for now, I am staying at Malaga. I am putting in my one hundred percent to try to guide Malaga into the European spots."

Indeed, for a club that was trying to fight off relegation just five months ago, it is a very abrupt change that their aim now was to "achieve European qualification", but Neville has masterminded it, taking his Malaga team from 18th to 7th in La Liga within just five months.

"I want to get us into the Europa League at least."

Do like the way you write your stories, the narrative writing and sticking with it. Also some good results with Saviola looking like the man of the hour. Keep it up :D

Hello Glenn

Nice to see a story with a national team.
I hope you will achieve your expectations with Malaga as well ! :D

The first England match in 2012 was against Holland, and we rightfully won 3-1 against a lackluster Holland side, a Wayne Rooney hat trick sealing it for us. This was, according to FIFA, the country ranked No 1 in the FIFA Rankings. Ha, if we play like this against every opponent I think Euro 2012 is ours.
