    Yorkshire's Finest - York City

I drove through the gates. It was Gate D. The one I had been told to come down. I carried on down the narrow lane. Then, I stopped. A sudden chill of wind rushed down the back of my bright white shirt. I sighed, closed my eyes and thought to myself for a while. Thinking of every decision I would have to make, every move I would have to make, every word I would have to say... It was only until the car behind me beeped his horn that I carried on driving down the lane. I carried on further down, looking for a place to park my car. To my surprise, I saw an empty space, but no normal empty space, no, not at all, It appeared to have my name on a plaque just above it. Next to it was the same plaque, but with the name, Paul Ince upon it, then another followed, with Avram Grant on it. Then I remembered, they were the other two potential managers for the Job. I was nervous, I doubted I would ever get the job, Avram had managed the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, and Portsmouth, and Ince, he had experience with Notts County, Swindon, and Blackburn. They were both at least 20 years above my age, that's 20 more years experience for them, whilst I've only managed a local team back down in Thirsk. Things weren't looking up for me at all. No way. By this time I had already left the car, and entered the Stadium. I had a blurred image or where I was going, but either way I'd find it.

I found it. The Chairman's office.
    JASON MCGILL
    Knock before entering
Is what the the door read. So, obviously, I knocked. I heard a "Come In" from the other side of the door. I entered. There stood the 4 figures of, Jason McGill, Avram Grant, Paul Ince, and current Assistant Manager, Darron Gee. McGill introduced me to the other three gentlemen, then to himself. Then we all went to sit down, and discuss what needed to be discussed. McGill and Gee sat on one side, facing the three of us; Avram, Paul, and myself. The meeting went on for about another three hours...

    3 Hours Later...

I got it! I got the City job, I couldn't believe it. I suppose I deserve it after I was the only one willing to accept £575 p/w on a one year deal. Greedy shits. Personally I think managing York City is a reward in itself. But that's juts me. So, I left Bootham to return home, I had a lot, to do...
Nicely done, Now let me show the tactics, so i can shoot them :P

So you are...Have you actually read it, or did you just want to be first ;D
Sad the state football in Yorkshire, recognized as the birthplace of professional club football (according to FIFA, even), has sunk to.

I'll look forward to see how this goes. Will you be able to surpass the "big" clubs in Sheffield and Leeds?

I didn't understand any of the first bit. But Yes, we probably will surpass the 'big clubs' ;)
Sigh. I'm saying it's interesting because Yorkshire has almost fallen off the map in football now, so I'm always curious about a story trying to build a recovery there. I've sought an opportunity myself to try to revive fortunes in the area, but a suitable one hasn't fallen in my lap yet :)

    Ah, I see. Haha :D

    Tactics

I arrived back, at my house. I was so lucky to have a house like this, the view, friends not far from it, and the local shops a minute or two away from it. It was fantastic. I had it purely because my beloved Grandfather left £2,500,000 to me when he passed away six years ago. My Mother and Father got most of the money, but £2,500,000 was enough for me to move out, buy a house, and do what I had desired to do since the age of seven. Manage a football team. It had cost me a lot to get my badges. I had worked hard to get everything right, I didn't want any of my Grandfathers money wasted. None at all. I bet he is so proud of me, up there. He must of been watching over me when I was at Bootham earlier.

So I decided to get down to business. I had already had several tactics in my mind, since I were a lad I had thought over and over the strengths and weaknesses, the good reasons and the bad reasons, narrowing it down to just three. They are the three I intend to use with York.

    Primary Tactic:

    Secondary Tactic:

    Third Tactic:

Right, I'll explain these tactics to the staff when I go down later on to see them and the players. First of all Friendlies. I need to sort them. I could do with some decent amounts coming in from those big teams. What about organizing a Cancer Research Cup? That's be one way to introduce myself, raise some money for Cancer Research...Yeah, lets do it!

    Friendlies

York City vs York City Reserves
    York City vs Bolton
    York City vs Selby
    York City vs Liverpool
    York City vs FC United
    York City vs Whitby
    York City vs Darlington
    York City vs Carlisle
    York City vs Bradford

    Cancer Research Cup

Semi Finals - York City vs Celtic
    Finals - TBD

    You don't say ;)
Yeah, thought they'd be best for this league, + Might have Liverpool twice if we both meet in the final.
Enjoying the story :), i also used a 4-2-3-1 very similar to that, just with supporting wingers, and the BWM on Defense.

I scored 3 goals on average per game, and conceded a sh-tload aswell playing as Eastleigh.

Anyway, keep up the great work TCO :). Good luck

if goal don't come my way with the current 4-2-3-1 then I'll adapt it to your suggested way.

    Meeting with McGill

I am quite a confident man, not a 'I'm so stupid, I'll do anything man' more of a 'lets look at this and see the best way around it man' which for this job is probably the best, I don't make rash decisions, I'm not Roman Abramovich.
I was finally going to introduce myself to the fans, players, and staff. Some were aware that Gary Mills had left, but not that I had been appointed, the same goes for the fans. It'll be a big shock to them, a guy from a small town, only played and managed Sunday League football. They will all no doubt question McGill's decision to turn down Avram and Paul for me, but I will show them, it was the best decision he had made in a while.

I arrived again at Bootham Crescent, entering the same way. I had a meeting with McGill, then with the staff and players. Half a day into my managerial career and I'm already bloody busy. I arrived at the door, tinkered my tie, and knocked. Once again, he shouted for me to enter. So then, we both sat and discussed each matter there was to discuss.

    We discusses Tactics...

And the quality of the current staff members.

Eventually we had come to solid agreements on everything. I shook his hand and left the room, with all the sheets of paper with the final agreements upon them.
