Two Players Exit Etihad Stadium

Manchester City have today announced the sale of two of their players, with Serbian left-back Aleksander Kolarov leaving for Galatasaray and Javi Garcia going to Liverpool.

Kolarov leaves City after three seasons at the Etihad. His defensive frailties have been on show too many times for his managers liking and he has moved to Champions League runners-up Galatasaray for £5.5m.

Javi Garcia has left City after just one unsuccessful year at the Club, but clearly another Premier League team has seen something in him with Liverpool paying £11.5m for his services. Garcia only played 5 times for City last season in the league and was disappointing in most of them games, so his manager clearly feels it is time for him to move on.

Javi Garcia always flops in every single one of my saves. Glad he's gone to Liverpool though :P
He did ok for me, not great and defo not worth keeping around anyway! i was surprised i got 11.5m for him, i've never seen City be able to sell him!

2013/14 Fixtures Released

One of the most exciting days of the summer is upon us and it involves the releasing of the fixtures for the new season.

Manchester City will face Reading at home in the opening weekend of the season, with City’s first away game coming a week later with a trip to Everton. City will end the season at home to Wolves.

Champions Manchester United will face Stoke away on the opening day of the season, and their first home game comes the week later against Norwich. United will end the season away at Swansea.

The first Manchester derby will take place at the Etihad Stadium on 23rd November, while the game at Old Trafford will be on the 19th April.

Man City Complete First Signing

Manchester City have completed their first signing of the new season, by bringing in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £17.25m. Varane, who can play centre back or defensive midfielder, is widely tipped to become one of the best defenders in Europe if he continues to improve at the rate he has been recently.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/Varane_zps7a4c438d.jpg

The French Under 21 international signed for Madrid for £8.5m from RC Lens in 2011 and made 31 appearances for Madrid but was limited to just 9 appearances last season. Varane took to Twitter to announce his happiness at the move, “#MCFC are a great club & I can’t wait to get to Manchester! I want success like all of the fans, so bring on the new season”

Man City manager Georgi Kinkladze said, “Raphael is a man with great potential, a potential leader and we have the players to help bring that out of him. He will play a big part in the new season and this shows my determination to move to youth.”

When asked about how good Varane could be, Kinkladze replied, “Raphael can be as good as Vinny, and together they can be the best defensive partnership in the World, but he also knows he has to work hard for his place with Joleon, Diego and Matija already here, competition for that position is very high.”

Boyata Leaves for Blackpool

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/BoyataSAle_zps88b6e8d3.png

After spending a season on loan, Dedryck Boyata will not be given an opportunity in Kinkladze’s squad to prove himself and has moved permanently to Premier League newboys Blackpool, for a fee believed to be around £3m. Boyata said he was happy to be returning to the Premier League and was looking forward to a tough battle this season and coming up against his old Club.

Two More Departures at City

Manchester City today announced that two more players have moved on. Firstly, Brazilian right-back Maicon has joined Real Madrid for £4.5m, while Mario Balotelli has again moved on loan and this time he’s joined Atletico Madrid for the season.

Maicon played 19 times for City last season and scored 4 goals, but City manager Georgi Kinkladze felt the time was right to move to other options, “I’d like to thank Maicon for all he did last season, he had a big influence on our squad and brought a lot to the dressing room, but we feel it is time to move to younger players and Maicon deserved the chance to play football and I’m hoping he gets that at Madrid.”

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/MaiconSale_zpsae9ba173.png

Balotelli leaves City again without being given a chance to prove his worth by Kinkladze, when asked about Mario he said, “I would have preferred a permanent deal for Mario but the bids we received didn’t match our valuation, so we feel a loan move is again best for both parties. Mario is a distraction neither myself or the team need but I wish him well at Atletico.” There is a chance that Maicon and Mario could play against each other this season and it will be a good contest when they do.

Manchester City also revealed they had come to an agreement with Benfica for 17 year old Portugese midfield Humberto. Humberto will join City for £725k and will immediately join Attillo Lombardo and City’s under 21 team for their campaign this year.

Pre-Season Games

A really entertaining game opened pre-season this year, we took a trip to France to take on Lille and an end to end game finished 1-1, with City’s goal coming from Adryan.

A young City team made the trip across the border to Wales to take on Rhyl and came away with a very impressive win. Although against complete minnows, City still performed to a high standard and ran out 9-0 winners with goals from Adryan (4), Guidetti (3), Humberto and Milner.

At the start of a three game tour of the USA, Man City faced Philadelphia and came out of the game with no injuries, improved fitness and a comfortable 1-0 victory, with the goal coming in the first half from Wellington Nem.

A young City side faced Montreal Impact in the 2nd game of their tour, it was an even game with chances for both sides but it was City who came out on top 2-1, with goals from Nasri and Scapuzzi.

An uninspiring final game in the USA for City, as a strong side were unable to break down the Portland Timbers and it finished 0-0. Positive news for City was the return of Daniele De Rossi from the injury he picked up at the Confederations Cup.

One last friendly before the start of the season saw City travel to the UAE to face Al-Jazira, and a strong City side gave a strong performance and City came home on the back of a 5-0 win, goals coming from Guidetti (3), Bale and Silva.

Tevez Joins Juventus

Sky Sports News can confirm that Argentinian Striker Carlos Tevez has joined Italian giants Juventus. Tevez leaves Premier League runners up Manchester City after 4 seasons, in which he scored 56 goals, for a fee reported to be £15m.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/Tevez_zpsd35e9641.jpg

With his contract due to expire at the end of the upcoming season, manager Georgi Kinkladze has decided to sell the hard working striker instead of offering him a new deal. Our sources had suggested Tevez was going to leave City in January, but Kinkladze managed to talk Tevez into staying but it seems the pair’s disagreement in January has led to this move now.

Kinkladze was quick to deny this suggestion, “Me and Carlos had a good working relationship, he knew what I wanted and rarely let me down. As a Club, we’d like to thank him for all he has done and how far he has helped take us, there were a few problems along the way but he has placed him name in City’s history and will always be remembered by our fans.”

Saturday 17th August 2013 – Manchester City v Reading (Premier League)

The opening day of the season and City will be hoping for a positive start to the season, especially with most bookies making City favourites to win the league this season.

City have only made one significant transfer this summer and that was for Raphael Varane, who finds himself on the bench with Serbian Matija Nastasic preferred at centre back alongside captain Vincent Kompany.

Before the game, City’s manager said, “I’m excited for the new season, we have a really strong squad and I think we can win the league this year. Closing the gap on United is essential and this squad can definitely do that. A few players have left, some big players as well, so its upto these guys to step up now and show they are ready.”

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Bale; Nem; Aguero SUBS – Friedel, Varane, Shaw, Barry, Milner, de Jong, Guidetti

Reading Starting XI – Federici, Martin, Pearce, Gorkss, Vage Nilsen; Hunt, Leigertwood, Gunnarsson, McAnuff; Pogrebnyak, Le Fondre SUBS – Andersen, Gunter, Mee, Karacan, Madine, Morrison, Mariappa

It took City a little bit of time to find their stride but they came out on top with a convincing performance that rarely saw Reading threaten. A solid performance from every City player, especially Samir Nasri, has sent a message to the League that City are ready for a big push for the title this year.

Final Score – Manchester City 2 (Nasri 19, Aguero 54) Reading 0

MOTM – Samir Nasri

Attendance – 46,908

A quiet game with only one real telling moment, and it came 2 minutes into the second half when an Aguero free kick found the head of captain Vincent Kompany who guided the ball past the Everton ’keeper.

2013/14 Champions League Draw

Last season’s Semi-Finalists Manchester City have been given a tough group in this year’s Champions League and have been drawn in Group H alongside the current European Champions Barcelona. Also in the group will be the Greek giants Olympiakos and Serbian side Red Star Belgrade.

In the League Cup 3rd Round, City have been given a trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.

Sunday 1st September 2013 – Manchester City v Chelsea (Premier League)

After scooping the August Manager of the Month award, City and their manager go into this tough game against Chelsea, knowing they can open up a 6 point gap on rivals United after only three games.

http://i1269.photobucket.com/albums/jj595/MCFCDAP/MOTMAug_zps57f38c9c.png

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Richards, Kompany, Nastasic, Shaw; Nasri, De Rossi, Toure, Bale; Silva; Aguero SUBS – Friedel, Varane, Zabaleta, Barry, Milner, Nem, Guidetti

Chelsea Starting XI – Cech, Ivanovic, Terry, Moreno, Cole; Lampard, Azpilicueta; Ben Arfa, Mata, Hazard; Jovetic SUBS – Ustari, Cahill, David Luiz, Oscar, Torres, Bertrand, Chalobah

An unbelievable first 18 minutes saw City take the game completely away from Chelsea, and from that point City never looked like losing control of the game. In the first half City had 25 shots on goal, but in the second they rarely threatened until the last minute when James Milner headed in the fourth.

Final Score – Manchester City 4 (Aguero 10 (p), Kompany 17, Richards 18, Milner 90+1) Chelsea 0

MOTM – Vincent Kompany

Attendance – 47,405
