January Transfer Window/Deadline Day
As January comes to end, it only means one thing in the footballing world, and that is the arrival of Transfer Deadline Day. Arsenal have made the biggest moves during the window, spending nearly £20m bringing in Aleksander Dragovic and Hugo Mallo. Man United have spent £7.25m on Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid, while allowed Tom Cleverley to move to Porto for around the same fee.
Unsurprisingly, league leaders Manchester City have yet to make a move in this window and who can blame them with the position they are in, but a few newspapers are reporting City could make a move today to bring in another midfielder for the run in.
12.30 Deadline Day – City Bring In Three On Loan
Georgi Kinkladze is currently the happiest manager in the Premier League, his team sit top of the league in a comfortable position and his board has allowed him to bring in three top class players, all on loan.
First off, Manchester City have signed cover for the right back position by bringing in PSG man Gregory van der Wiel for the rest of the season. Van der Wiel will provide cover for both Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta, but many expect with his proven qualities that it won’t be long before he is challenging for the starting spot.

City’s second loan signing is as expected a midfield, and they have pulled off an amazing loan signing by securing the services of Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho. Transfer listed at Porto and unwilling to play, Moutinho has been scouted by many top European Clubs but is it Manchester City that have brought him to England with a view to an £11.5m permanent deal.

And finally City have signed a man familiar to most in the Premier League by signing a 6 month loan deal for Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski. Podolski has spent most of the season in Arsenal’s reserve side but City manager Georgi Kinkladze sees him as perfect cover for Cavani and Aguero, especially with only young strikers Luuk de Jong and John Guidetti currently at the Club.

Manager’s January Review
Easily the worst month of the season in terms of performances as the team seemed to fail to produce but three wins from four games isn’t exactly a concern, although I am disappointed to lose our unbeaten record.
In the FA Cup, we cruised through the third round again Leicester with a very convincing performance, but then we struggled against Birmingham in the fourth round and face a replay at St Andrews to make it through to the next round, where Southampton await the winner.
My player of the month is Vincent Kompany. Our captain and leader never fails to impress and although others around him have failed to quite live up to the previous months performances, Vincent always played to a high standard and deserves this award. Kompany also came runner up in the Premier League Player of the Month, while his defensive partner Matija Nastasic came runner up in the Young Player award.
