Being 5-0 up at half time after the results you had before must have felt good!
Haha yeah definitely! Was nice just to be able to sit back and enjoy the game!

It's a pity we haven't been able to do that in real life!
Drawing against Birmingham 0-0? :P

January Transfer Window/Deadline Day

As January comes to end, it only means one thing in the footballing world, and that is the arrival of Transfer Deadline Day. Arsenal have made the biggest moves during the window, spending nearly £20m bringing in Aleksander Dragovic and Hugo Mallo. Man United have spent £7.25m on Fabio Coentrao from Real Madrid, while allowed Tom Cleverley to move to Porto for around the same fee.

Unsurprisingly, league leaders Manchester City have yet to make a move in this window and who can blame them with the position they are in, but a few newspapers are reporting City could make a move today to bring in another midfielder for the run in.

12.30 Deadline Day – City Bring In Three On Loan

Georgi Kinkladze is currently the happiest manager in the Premier League, his team sit top of the league in a comfortable position and his board has allowed him to bring in three top class players, all on loan.

First off, Manchester City have signed cover for the right back position by bringing in PSG man Gregory van der Wiel for the rest of the season. Van der Wiel will provide cover for both Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta, but many expect with his proven qualities that it won’t be long before he is challenging for the starting spot.

City’s second loan signing is as expected a midfield, and they have pulled off an amazing loan signing by securing the services of Portuguese midfielder Joao Moutinho. Transfer listed at Porto and unwilling to play, Moutinho has been scouted by many top European Clubs but is it Manchester City that have brought him to England with a view to an £11.5m permanent deal.

And finally City have signed a man familiar to most in the Premier League by signing a 6 month loan deal for Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski. Podolski has spent most of the season in Arsenal’s reserve side but City manager Georgi Kinkladze sees him as perfect cover for Cavani and Aguero, especially with only young strikers Luuk de Jong and John Guidetti currently at the Club.

Manager’s January Review

Easily the worst month of the season in terms of performances as the team seemed to fail to produce but three wins from four games isn’t exactly a concern, although I am disappointed to lose our unbeaten record.

In the FA Cup, we cruised through the third round again Leicester with a very convincing performance, but then we struggled against Birmingham in the fourth round and face a replay at St Andrews to make it through to the next round, where Southampton await the winner.

My player of the month is Vincent Kompany. Our captain and leader never fails to impress and although others around him have failed to quite live up to the previous months performances, Vincent always played to a high standard and deserves this award. Kompany also came runner up in the Premier League Player of the Month, while his defensive partner Matija Nastasic came runner up in the Young Player award.

Saturday 1st February 2014 – Manchester City v Sunderland (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, van der Wiel, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Milner, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Friedel, Varane, Sanfo, Moutinho, Bale, de Jong, Podolski

Sunderland Starting XI – Mignolet, Eardley, Cuellar, O’Shea, Kilgallon; Diarra, Diakite; Dockal, Sessegnon, Johnson; Fletcher SUBS – Westwood, Bramble, Sviatchenko, Larson, Ji, Brown, Bardsley

Another three points for Man City, and they had this win wrapped up in the first 15 minutes and rarely looked like conceding a goal all game. City also had two goals disallowed for offside but they won’t be complaining at the end of the game. A very impressive debut from van der Wiel might see Zabaleta and Richards struggling to get back in the team.

Final Score – Manchester City 3 (Toure 2, Nem 9, 14) Sunderland 0

MOTM – Wellington Nem

Attendance – 47,405

Tuesday 4th February 2014 – Birmingham City v Manchester City (FA Cup 4th Round Replay)

MCFC Starting XI – Pantilimon, Sanfo, Varane, Adjel-Boateng, Juan Ramon; Bale, Barry, Rodwell, Nem; de Jong; Guidetti SUBS – Friedel, Shaw, Kompany, Toure, Milner, Adryan, Pozo

Birmingham Starting XI – Butland, Ibanez, Caldwell, Davies, Murphy; Mullins, Fahey; Burke, Ambrose, Redmond; Zigic SUBS – Doyle, Webb, Rooney, King, Kerr, Packwood, Ntambwe

City will be disappointed to be out of the Cup today, after a good performance from some of their younger players but the game is about scoring goals and City failed to do that enough today. Birmingham will progress to face Southampton and City will have to concentrate on the league and Champions League.

Final Score – Birmingham City 2 (Redmond 70, Packwood 86) Manchester City 1 (Guidetti 32)

MOTM – Raphael Varane

Attendance – 29,409
Unlucky against Birmingham, good win against Sunderland though :)
Was gutted about the Birmingham game, the young lads played really well and didnt deserve to lose but Birmingham put the ball in the back of the net and we didnt!

Thanks for all the support and comments mate :)
Unlucky against Birmingham! All three loanees were in the team against Sunderland :P! I think that you pulled the signing of the season with Moutinho on loan! Great stuff from you!

Saturday 8th February 2014 – Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, van der Wiel, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Bale, De Rossi, Toure, Nem; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Friedel, Zabaleta, Varane, Moutinho, Milner, de Jong, Podolski

Spurs Starting XI – Lloris, Lichtsteiner, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Alaba; Sandro, N’Diaye; McGeady, Sigurosson, Young, Adebayor SUBS – Gomes, Walker, Kjaer, Sosa, Defoe, Caulker, Olsson

A good game at White Hart Lane today saw one moment of brilliance from Sergio Aguero settle the game, a 25 yard free kick was all that separated the two teams at the end and strangely these teams will meet again in a few days at the Etihad. Gareth Bale failed to really impress on his return to The Lane but he won’t care too much as his team got the three points. City’s new loan signing van der Wiel will miss the next 4 weeks with a twisted ankle.

Final Score – Tottenham Hotspur 0 Manchester City 1 (Aguero 76)

MOTM – Sandro

Attendance – 36,284

Wednesday 12th February 2014 – Manchester City v Tottenham Hotspur (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Varane, Nastasic, Clichy; Milner, Barry, De Rossi, Bale; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Friedel, Shaw, Kompany, Toure, Nem, Silva, Podolski

Spurs Starting XI – Lloris, Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Olsson; Lichtsteiner, Huddlestone, N’Diaye, Sandro, McGeady; Adebayor SUBS – Gomes, Caulker, Kjaer, Young, Defoe, Smith, Townsend

A more one sided affair this time between the sides but the score line was still the same, with City again winning 1-0. This time Gareth Bale did show up against his former Club and it was his goal that was the difference between the sides, although City hit the woodwork three times in the final 10 minutes. The win puts City 11 points clear of Chelsea at the top of the table, with a game in hand as well.

Final Score – Manchester City 1 (Bale 38) Tottenham Hotspur 0

MOTM – Sandro

Attendance – 47,405

Wednesday 19th February 2014 – Manchester City v Aston Villa (Premier League)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Milner, De Rossi, Toure, Bale; Aguero; Podolski SUBS – Friedel, Varane, Shaw, Barry, Nem, Silva, Cavani

Villa Starting XI – Guzan, Rangel, Dunne, Vlaar, Warnock; Bentley, Clark, Hosny, N’Zogbia; Bent, Agbonlahor SUBS – Given, Baker, Lowton, Ireland, Benteke, Bennett, Westwood

Two goals at the end of the first half, and one with five minutes to go were enough for City to gain another three points and stretch their lead at the top of the League. City never looked in trouble today with Villa unable to have one shot on target. Kinkladze will be happy that Podolski scored in his first start for the Club.

Final Score – Manchester City 3 (Podolski 41, Kompany 45, Toure 87) Aston Villa 0

MOTM – Vincent Kompany

Attendance – 47,405

Wednesday 26th February 2014 – Manchester City v Real Madrid (Champions League First Knock-out Round 1st Leg)

MCFC Starting XI – Hart, Zabaleta, Kompany, Nastasic, Clichy; Milner, De Rossi, Toure, Bale; Aguero; Cavani SUBS – Friedel, Richards, Varane, Barry, Nem, Silva, de Jong

Real Starting XI – Casillas, Maicon, Ramos, Pepe, Arbeloa; Modric, Khedira; Di Maria, Ozil, Ronaldo; Benzema SUBS – Fernandez, Sahin, Carvalho, Alonso, Higuain, Casado, Saez

City and their fans may have feared the worst after 20 minutes when Di Maria lead a solo break away and scored but three goals from City put them firmly in control and looking like they had a good lead going to Spain, but Ronaldo had other ideas and his stunning finish means City only take a one goal lead to Madrid in 3 weeks time.

Final Score – Manchester City 3 (Toure 29, Aguero 39 (p), Cavani 63) Real Madrid 2 (Di Maria 21, Ronaldo 84)

MOTM – Cristiano Ronaldo

Attendance – 47,405
