Diego Maradona was one of the greatest players of all time. He had incredible careers with Napoli and Barcelona and he led Argentina to a World Cup. He also scored the infamous Hand of God goal against England in the World Cup quarterfinal. But his reputation has been tarnished with his suspension from the World Cup in 1994 because of drug abuse. He also is known for his awful temper and his failed managerial career with Argentina in the 2010 World Cup. Diego is looking to rebuild his reputation once more, to become a legend. He sat in his home in Argentina reflecting on his career when the phone rang.

DM-Diego Maradona
MAG-Miguel Angel Gill (Managing Director of At. Madrid)

DM: Hello, who’s calling?
MAG: It’s Miguel Angel Gill, chairman of Atletico Madrid.
DM: Atletico Madrid?
MAG: We’re calling to inform you that Diego Simeone has been fired after being arrested for DUI.
DM: And
MAG: We need someone to lead us to La Liga and Champions league glory. We need you.

24 hours later:
MAG: We called this press conference to announce that Diego Maradona has been hired for the vacant managerial position at Atletico Madrid. (walks away)

From now on, the story will be told in Diego’s POV.

I walked on to the training pitch to take a look at the boys I would be coaching. I have to say I was impressed. There was one particular Colombian striker, Falcao who impressed me greatly. My assistant has told me that he is wanted by many very rich clubs and that he could be the best striker in the world. One attacking midfielder did not impress me. Diego Costa was surplus to requirements and he looks to be the first one I will sell. The tactic I will use is a 4-1-2-1-2, a role that lets my very creative attacking players some freedom to score goals and create opportunities. This and the other tactics will be posted below. I also received the schedule. We will play Union Berlin first. I have only 875 thousand pounds to spend in the transfer market so I will need to sell some players before I make a key signing.

This was not what I was hoping for when I went out for the first match. Yes, we dominated. But no goals. I thought Falcao was supposed to be one of the best in the world

Sky Sports here, we've just learned that Spanish side Atletico Madrid have agreed on a contract with 17 year old Brazilian Center-back Doria. The Spanish club met Doria's release clause of 525 Thousand Pounds. He will be joining At. Madrid in the Winter Window.

Training Camp Update

Training camp has just ended and I have mixed feelings about our performance. We went out into our first game against Union Berlin and absolutely dominated. We had 20 shots on goal and we kept a large majority of the possession, but we could not score. Not even with Falcao.

The second game was more of the same. We just could not score goals. We had 33 shots but no goals. We also struggled to get our shots on target, just 7 out of 33 were on net.

After some rough times on the training grounds, the boys finally got their act together. Un our first 10 minutes, we put three in the back of the net. In total, we had 13 shots and 10 on net, better than last game. We are also getting updated on a mild injury on Arda Turan, which happened mid first half

This was It. Our first La Liga Game. We came up against Deportivo ready to play and we won! We got beat in possession, but one of our 15 shots found the back of the net. Adrian is our hero. He scored off a rebound from a Falcao shot. '

On another less optimistic note, Falcao has request a transfer. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wouldn't believe we were going to qualify for the Champions league. He is currently transfer listed, but I won't accept a bid under 46 million pounds for him. He will be staying, whether he likes it or not. Adrian has also been linked to Chelsea but I believe it is just a rumor. Now, I must celebrate with some champagne.
good start to the league but maybe could b more dangerous in front of goal, 19 shots but only 4 on target.. id sell falcao if he wasnt happy n get a younger replacement
Yeah, I agree Mark. I'm a bit disappointing in Falcao. If he wants to move on to "better things", he should score here first. If Falcao leaves, I was thinking Steven Jovetic. The on-target is a problem as you can see in the training camp update. I'm going to train for better finishing.
