Well with my defensive issues, as I was growing up (probably like you) the majority including me, learnt the positioning of the striker. Now with defense I feel it is harder to adjust although I enjoy halting them in their tracks. Although yes I like playing up front I need to prove myself to the team that I am good in defense, then they might test me as striker and find a suprise. But meanwhile on the Rugby front the interhouse school compeition is comming up and i am almost guarented a first team spot due to my quick acceleration and what I call adrenaline focus. I will report back in a couple of weeks as it the holidays now. And I am off to Liverpool to visit my uncle.

Dusan just have a go, if it hinders you then I am sure they will reconise it. But what is the worst that could happen?
The worst?? About injury??? Well I stopped training because my parents didn't let me play, I was always injured and every time I came back from training I had to complain about something hurting me, I was constantly injured. And when I broke my leg they had to end it, but I also didn't want to continue, open leg fracture and on the match ain't a small thing. I was really frightened about what had happened... Now I persuaded them to let me train because I love the game so much I just have to play and I have overcame my fear. The bone healed fine and now I can train, I could train before but I wasn't let to... So I'm back on the pitch and I face the same old injury problems :)... Hopefully nothing bad will happen
So are you cautious of diving into challenges, and what pos do you usually play.
dusan to be honest i think your naturally a bit more injury prone.

That can be the case about many. Some are more vulnerable than others.
I have luckily only been injured once seriously in my life. And trust me i have hurt myself a lot. And i never go in half heartedly into a challenge.

I know how devistating it is to be injured. but to be honest you can carry on playing. Just try to build up your fitness better, take care of yourself. Learn a bit more about how to be able to take care of yourself etc. YOu dont have to give up football at all. you can keep on playing even in a team.
Well I know that I'm injury prone, I'm aware of that, but I can't take care of my self, I push myself too hard, I try to be everywhere in right time and take care of defensive tasks as much as offensive ones, that's what my coach likes about me and why does he want me in the team again, I always try to do my best...

@ MUBA... I play a right winger, theoretically, but on the pitch I'm probably about every position you can play on the right flank, DR, WBR, AMR just about everything...

i play everything even goalkeeper if it is needed
I would just like to add to my current situation, since I love football and want to play well competivatly, I am spending my own money and free time, to create a six a side team in the North-East of England, with many players leaving football teams because of GCSEs in my area the less money and time will help their situation, I am designing my kit with another friend. The team will either be called Substandard Leige or another pun on words name. I will update when we finally get this running as I can't play yet because min age is 16. The team will be starting roughly june, july next year.

------------------------UPDATE-----------------------------------------------

My team is playing in the local 6-a side next year and the 5- a side, can't wait, I will post a picture of our custom made strips soon. I am playing Upfront and CB if needed. number 10
mate i like what you doing, but ur young and should search for a club, you know that you can play footy all your life. you dont have to be in the top leagues to be considered as a footballer.

so you should go out and seek a proper football club. Not that you should keep this 6 a-side thing going. its all good.
Yes I do want to search out a club, but how (and is that even possible) I thought the team had to look for the player not the other way round.
some clubs have open days, for youngsters to come to the club and show what you've got. or just go to your local club (not a big club) and see if you can have a tryout.

i was once a good prospect playing for my local side but i didn't physically develope enough. i am only 5'3 and weigh nothing. so i wasn't physically strong enough, even though i thought i didn't need it because of my lightning pace (not being big headed but walcott quick). but i could also tackle very well.

so i gave myself the RWB position, but the youth coach decided i wasn't strong enough and that was that, he was a complete t**t.

so i might go to my other local side, Accrington Stanley, and see if they can give me an opportunity.
The local team I am looking at has no indication of open days. I might try out for Darlington RA, but I can't find anything. But if I do I will have a tryout after my 5-a side experience. Can anyone help find me an open day for that team
?

i hate coaches like that, a bunch of fat cunts.

You can build your strength up, your fitness levels up. BUT you can never magically add natural quality to a player.

Thats something wrong with the game. It takes much of a person physically and u need that to do well. But its nothing that should come inbetween a players qualities for football.

I would take any unfit player who has quality in my team. Then i would just make him work slightly harder to get his fitness levels up.

If you want to become a top football now a days you need to be good physically.

I also hate people(especially in the lower leagues) who think players with pace are better.

ANd barmy, you should easily find a new club to play at?
I dont know how it is down in england. With the amount of people there i know it can be slightly harder to find a decent club.

But being young you should be able to find some club.

It is a lot more difficult than you think with not any open days I have heard of in the last 15 years. I can't go to anything at the moment as I have not played in ages and my fitness is down. But a 6ft player with power and a shooting abilty should get me somewhere. I will see out this 5 a-side thing. And look to play for a university if I go there to study different things as I don't have P.E as a subject for GCSE (my choice)
Recently I have been preffering defense to attack, its hard to explain. But for those strikers out there... to be a striker you need as i call it'the hunger', the determination to score and get the glory for that goal. As a defender you don't have that. I have lost the hunger recently and have started playing as a CB, I play much comftably (doesn't mean better), the only problem is I need to learn how to pass the ball and make descions faster, I know the 5-a-side will help with this. But has anyone else got any tips?
Haha you have found this thread, I wanted to find it I while ago but I just couldn't bother (although I just need to press search :) )

Well anyways, to answer your question, it's just practice when it comes to passes, i had often put cones all around the pitch and tried to hit them from different angles, distances, using also different passes, like short, one-two, long passes, heel etc...also when it came to crosses my coach and few of my friends created some kind of a basket, hoop (like for basketball, only wider and facing me, hope you under stand) and it's height could be changed, so i tried to put the ball through the hoop, so it all comes to practice...but when it comes to making the right decisions I can't help you, you need experience and fast thinking and I don't know any exercises for that...
