Travis tips Bennett for Stardom: Everton 3-2 Fulham

Nikica Jelavic scored a late winner to earn Everton their first win in 3 against Fulham.

The Blues had soared into a 2 goal lead through Kevin Mirallas and the superb Mason Bennett, only for Senderos and Hangeland to level from corners, before Jelavic was threaded through by Mirallas in the 85th minute.

Travis was full of praise for 16 year old Bennett, who became the youngest ever Premier League goalscorer with the strike, and predicted big things for the young forward.

"Obviously he'll be an England star" said Travis, who was quick to kill comparisons with Wayne Rooney. "Him and Wayne are different players entirely, I think he could play alongside Wayne at some point for England if he keeps working the way he has been, and keeps adding the performances."

Bennett has scored 3 goals in his 5 startsin all competitions this season, and has also made 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League

Classy Toffees too hot for Chelsea: Everton 2-1 Chelsea

A first half double from Kevin Mirallas was enough to gift the points to Everton against a title-chasing Chelsea side.

Mirallas poached the first from a Gibson long range effort, but the second was classic Mirallas, picking up the ball wide right before running through 3 players and slotting past Petr Cech.

2 late goals saw Man United take a 3 point lead over Everton in the race for fourth place.

Kagawa's early header was cancelled out by Jelavic on the hour, but as both sides went for the victory, Van Persie popped up with a 4 minute double salvo to ensure that with 11 games to play, the Red Devils have a strong lead in the race for Champions League Football

Travis delighted at new contract

Everton boss Joe Travis is delighted that his contract has been extended.

Travis, who's first managerial contract ran out in July 2013, signed a 3 year extension earlier today, taking his tenure at Everton potentially to 2016.

"I'm delighted." Beamed Travis in the interview "I think our progress this season has been phenomenal, and to lose the lads we've lost and still be challenging for a Champions League place is superb. I'm glad that evidently Bill (Kenwright) sees it that way as well, and the board are more than happy to give me full backing and support. "
Mirallas Double Sinks Stoke: Stoke 0-2 Everton

Kevin Mirallas once again proved influential as Everton won 2-0 at the Britannia Stadium.

Mirallas scored his 3rd and 4th goals in 3 games, but these were far less spectacular than the efforts he has become famed for since his move to Goodison Park. His first on 7 minutes resulted in the melee ensuing from one of the many set pieces both sides had. The second was a tidy finish of the inside of the post following a through ball from Darren Gibson.
Everton 1-1 West Ham

Yossi Benayoun's powerful effort was cancelled out by Darron Gibson in this gritty draw between 2 even teams.
Everton 3-1 Norwich

A goal from Kevin Mirallas and a brace from Nikica Jelavic was more than enough to see of the challenge of Norwich at Goodison Park

Travis says Champions League still a possibility despite tricky run-in

Joe Travis says Everton can still pull off an unlikely Champions League place despite a tricky final ten games.

Everton have amassed 55 points so far and lie 2 behind Manchester United who occupy the last qualification place. Whilst Travis acknowledges that it will be a tough ask, with Everton facing Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and high flying Swansea in the last ten, he says nothing is impossible.

"That's what makes football so special." Says Travis. "All I know is that it's been 8 years since we last had a chance to qualify for the Champions League, so the hunger is there. Yes Manchester United are a bigger club with more power financially, but we'll do what we can, and victorious or not, we can be very proud of this season's league performance."
High Flying Swans End Toffees Champions League Dream@ Swansea 1-0 Everton

Dwight Tiendalli stuck the knife into Evertons Champions League campaign today.

His 11th minute strike was enough, thanks to Michel Vorm, and sees Swansea move level on points with 5th placed Everton, 5 points adrift of Manchester United.
Everton 7 points off 4th: West Brom 1-1 Everton

Everton's Champions League dream looks to be slipping away. West brom scored early through Youssuf Mulumbu only to be pegged back by Nikica Jelavic.
Ouch! :'( 8 matches to go! GET EM'!
Late Oviedo Goal Gives Everton Win: Everton 2-1 Sunderland

An 89th minute strike from Bryan Oviedo was enough to secure Everton the points today. Everton had been trailing at Goodison park when Steven Fletcher scored for the Black Cats, however Jelavic levelled before Oviedo's deflected left foot drive secured the points.

Everton lie in 5th place, 7 points adrift of 4th placed Manchester United with 5 to play

Travis hails "best 45 minutes of the season" as Everton come back and United capitulate: Everton 2-1 Arsenal, Manchester United 1-2 Sunderland

In a second half that blew the race for 4th place wide open once again, Everton and Sunderland both came from behind to see off Arsenal and Manchester United respectively.

There was shock at Old Trafford as Steven Fletcher nodded home for ten man Sunderland, who had seen first goalscorer Stephane Sessegnon sent off 10 minutes earlier.

Meanwhile at Goodison, Everton fell behind to a Pablo Armero goal on the stroke of half-time. In the second half Everton were a completely different entity, fluent and quick in their movement of the ball whilst rigid and immovable defensively. Phil Neville scored his first goal for 2 years, and only his 9th career goal, following a hectic spell of aerial bombardment. 10 minutes later the increasingly influential Kevin Mirallas was on hand to tap-in following Jagielka's flick.

The result leaves Everton 4 points adrift of United and all but assured of Europa League football next season. Both sides have to go to Anfield which could prove influential, whilst United also host Arsenal and travel to the hawthorns before their final game against QPR.

Travis says Merseyside Derby is "Everton's most important game in years."

Joe Travis has today said that the second Merseyside derby of the season is of huge importance to Everton.

The Toffees travel to Anfield hoping to gain ground on Manchester United in the race for 4th place, and also confirm their status as a European team next season. Liverpool have had a poor season, sitting in tenth, but will be in the Europa League again next season after retaining the League Cup.

Travis said " This is Everton's most important game in years, because of what it holds potentially for us. Not because it's Liverpool. If we get through this then man City will become our most important game in years, then Southampton and then QPR."
