Jelavic Hattrick and Penalty Nerves send the Toffees to the Semis: Manchester United 3-3 Everton (Everton win 5-4 on penalties)

Nikica Jelavic thrice put Everton ahead, but also needed to score a penalty in a shoot-out to ensure Everton made the semi-finals.

Everton raced out of the blocks, Jelavic heading home Leon's corner in the 15th minute, for Ashley Young to peg back with a fantastic volley. Jelavic then scored a penalty, before Rooney levelled in the 88th minute to send the tie to extra time. Danny Wellbeck scored late in extra-time to again keep United in the tie after Jelavic skinned Vidic and Evans to slide the ballin the far corner.

Everton won 5-4 on penalties, not one Toffee missing before Fabio skied his penalty.

Everton will face West Ham in the semi-finals.
Very nice story :) i hope you win the finals
Travis' Toddlers Hammered: Everton 1-3 West Ham (CO Cup Semi Final 1st Leg)

Joe Travis' young cup side were completely outclassed by West Ham at Goodison Park. Despite Mason Bennett's early goal, a 15 minute salvo of Modibo Maiga, James Tomkins and Matt Jarvis ensure West Ham are in a very very strong position for the second leg at the Boleyn Ground.
Toffees confirm Honda signing

Everton today confirmed that, pending a work permit, Keisuke Honda will be an blue next season.

The Japanese playmaker, 27, is a major coup for the Toffees, as clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Juventus had all offered contracts, only for Honda to choose Goodison Park.

"It's a great day for the club." Said Travis jubilantly "This is a top quality centre midfielder, and the younger guys, like Adryan and Ross (Barkley) can really learn from him and improve their game."

Travis was also open about the rumours linking Yann M'Vila to a move to Goodison Park. "We're doing out best. It's not the transfer funds that's the issue it's that the lad won't budge on what he wants wage wise. We're trying our best but we may have to see a player leave before we see Yann come in, and even them we may get gazumped by a big club."
Weiss joins Marseille

Vladimir Weiss today signed for Olympique Marseille for £5 million.

The Serbian playmaker ends his brief stint on Merseyside, having only played 6 times for the club, yet Travis was full of praise for Weiss.

"I'm incredibly sorry Vlad has gone." Said Travis "He's been so patient for so long, and were it not for the teams fantastic performance this season, he'd have featured more. He came to the office last week and said he needed more first team football. I completely understood and said we'd look for a new club for him. He's a great kid and I wish him all the best."
Everton go 3rd: Everton 3-2 Arsenal.

Everton reversed the result dished out by the Gunners in August to send Everton 3rd in the table. The Toffees twice came from behind, Destro levelling Koscielny's opener, and then jelavic levelling Wilshere's drive. In the 77th minute a scramble ensued and Jelavic was on hand to tuck home a massive winning goal for the blues, who now move up to third place. Travis was full of praise for his team stating "We're proving we can mess at the top of the table with the big boys, and proving we fully deserve to be where we are right now."
Travis asks for realistic expectations

Joe Travis has once again asked the Everton fans to not get carried away at the half-way point in the season.

The Toffees have shocked many this season, currently lying third, and have progressed in all 3 cup formats. In particular the form of Nikica Jelavic and Mattia Destro, dubbed as "Jestro" by the clubs support, has been a highlight, with the pair scoring a combined 30league goals already this season.

"There's no reason why we can't go all the way." Said Travis "But I cannot stress enough how important it is that the fans don't forget that our aim is to finish 4th. We may finish higher, we may finish lower, but our aim is 4th and I ask the fans not to get carried away."

"We are looking to strengthen in this window, thanks to sales we have a fair amount of money to spend and are looking at all availabilities to us. There will be one other player leaving due to personal reasons but it's just waiting for the right offer to come along/"
Everton march to Wembley: West Ham United 1-5 Everton

Everton are through to face Arsenal in the league cup final in what Joe Travis is describing as 'his team's best feat'

3-1 down from the first leg. Everton were scintillating. Shawcross scoring in the third minute to give the Toffees hope, Mattia Destro made it 2 right on half-time, before Jelavic added a third. Kevin Nolan got one back which would have sent the game to extra time, until Destro, and then Ross Barkley, put the game to bed.
Travis splashes record fee on Mulumbu

Joe Travis has today confirmed the signing of Youssuf Mulumbu from West Brom.

The initial fee of 10 million is also supplemented by 13 million over a 4 year period for the 27 year old Congolese midfielder, who has been a standout performer for bottom of the league WBA. Travis is delighted.

"It's a massive signing." He said. "Our midfield is probably the weakest area of our side and to get Keisuke coming in next season and then Youssuf in now is fantastic, it gives our core to our team a real strength which hasn't been seen round here for a long time."
Overpaid a lot IMO but hopefully he gets you some good performances and results.

I understand why, but his value was 14.5 million, and IF I can land Champions League football the TV money will pay for that deal on it's own. And it's only ten upfront.

Everton Smashed by Rampart Red Devils: Manchester United 4-0 Everton

A Wayne Rooney Hattrick and a Valencia goal meant that Everton were dealt a cruel blow to their improbable title challenge today. The Toffees were dominated from start to finish and the result was a fair reflection on the game. Everton still lie 3rd, with a game in hand over some sides and 2 over most.
Ouch. Hope you can bounce back! :)
Everton close gap at top thanks to Heitinga double: Stoke City 1-2 Everton

A Brace of headers from John Heitinga saw Everton climb back into the top four today, and reinvigorated their slight title hopes.

The Toffees currently lie 4th, a point adrift of second placed Manchester United, with one game in hand, and 7 adrift of leaders Manchester City, but with 2 games in hand.
