Mulumbu's first goal sinks Chelsea: Chelsea 1-2 Everton

A Controversial red card for David Luiz played a major part in a dramatic top of the table six pointer at Stamford Bridge.

Everton came racing out of the blocks, the threat from Mirallas being a particular threat, and it was in the 18th minute that Mirallas, dancing past Cesar Azpilicueta once again, drilled across goal for Mattia Destro to slide in and convert.

The lead was short lived, as Azpilicueta equalised in the 29th minute. A corner from Mata resulting in a scramble, where Azpilicueta was on hand to flick the ball through the crowd and past Tim Howard.

What followed was a gritty game, with high intensity, big challenges and heated confrontations. And in the 55th minute a red card that had been threatening to occur did. Jelavic broke away past David Luiz who cynically brought the Croatian hitman to the ground. Andre Mariner deemed Luiz to be the last man and send the Brazilian off. However, the game was decided in the 82nd minute when MOTM Youssuf Mulumbu, who volleyed Destro's cross into the bottom corner to give Everton a monumental win, sending the Toffees second in the table, and breathing down the neck of Manchester City.
Unimressive Toffees enter Quarter-Finals: Hereford 0-1 Everton

Everton's youngsters progressed into the FA Cup quarter final today, although unimpressively against non-league Hereford.

Hereford held nothing back, and attacked for the majority of the game, putting the Toffees on the back foot. However the quality of the toffees showed and Jon Daly fired home to send the Blues into the quarter finals.
Butland 'will never play for this club again.'

A furious Joe Travis has stated that Jack Butland will never play for Everton again.

The England goalkeeper, joined in 2012 from Birmingham for 5 million, but has found his chances limited to Cups following Tim Howard's excellent form. Butland and Travis have had numerous arguments, but Butland's recent decision to once again criticise Travis' team talk has proven to be the final straw.

Butland 22, publicly slated manager's team talk following Everton's 1-0 win over Hereford in the FA cup, a match where Everton were on the back foot for long periods, and Travis clearly felt this wasn't good enough.

It is thought Butland, one of the top rated young goalkeepers in the country, could command a fee of 7-8 million if sold.
FA Cup Quarter Final Draw: Everton will play AFC Bournemouth or Stevenage Borough at Goodison Park.
Apono penalty gives Zaragoza hope: Zaragoza 1-2 Everton (Europa League first round knockout Leg 1)

Apono's 92nd minute penalty gives Zaragoza a slim chance of rescuing the tie following a home defeat to Everon. Nikica Jelavic gave the Toffees the lead before Darron Gibson headed home to give Everton their initial 2 goal advantage.
Arsenal thump Everton to win League Cup: Arsenal 4-1 Everton.

Arsenal's scintillating performance was too much for Everton as Arsenal won their first trophy in a decade.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got the goals underway before and Santi Cazorla header made it 2-0. Ryan Gauld's left footed volley brought the result back to 2-1 at half-time. Giroud made it 3-1 right after-half-time and the Frenchman added a 4th in the last 5 minutes.
Penalty Exit for Everton in Europe: Everton 1-2 Zaragoza

Zaragoza scored 2 in the last 3 minutes of injury-time and then broke Toffee Hearts in a penalty shootout. This leaves second placed Everton with just the FA Cup and League to focus on.
Everton Derby Display Has Fans Believing: Everton 2-0 Liverpool

Everton moved 4 points clear in second place today following a controlled and professional job against Merseyside rivals Liverpool.

Paolo Di Ceglie opened the scoring, the Italian bounding forward from left back to sweep home Kevin Mirallas' cross. As the game began to open up late on, with the reds throwing more bodies forward, it was Everton who sealed the game when Ryan Gaulds through ball found Mirallas, who slotted home past Pepe Reina.

The victory, and Manchester United's draw at home to Aston Villa, Everton lie 2 points behind Manchester City with a game in hand, and 4 ahead of Manchester United, who they face next at Goodison Park.
Everton 2-2 Manchester United

Everton blew a 2 goal lead to miss the opportunity to go top. Mattia Destro and Nikica Jelavic put Everton 2 up after 25 minutes, before Manchester United, in typical Manchester United fashion, revived through a Wayne Rooney brace.

The result keeps the Toffees 4 points above United, and 7 above 5th placed Chelsea.
Nice results but some more images would improve it as i only seem to be reading text but nice results
Toffees Obliterate Bournemouth: Everton 4-0 Bournemouth (FA Cup Q/F)

Everton booked their second Wembley appointment of the season following a 4-0 demolition of Bournemouth.

16 year old Bernard Musta opened the scoring, his first professional goal. Followed by a Jon Daly brace. George green fired home the fourth infront of a buoyant and exuberant Merseyside Crowd. Everton will play Burnley or Chelsea in the semi-finals.
8 games to go: Is it possible?

as we enter the final stages of the season, the Goodison Park are hopeful. But the big questions remain as to if the Toffees have the quality and momentum to make their unlikely title bid last the distance.

Since January the Toffees have been superb, and have put a disappointing European Campaign and League Cup Final behind them to display formidable league form. The Toffees lie second following a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane, 3 behind Manchester City, but have a good run-in, hosting Manchester City and Chelsea back to back in their next two games. Joe Travis is full of optimism.

"I've been asking the fans all season to keep calm." Says Travis. "But we have 8 games left and there is a possibility we could win it. We're not the favourites, we're probably not the second favourites either, but we will do all we can. Youssuf (Mulumbu) has helped a lot, and we look a lot more steely away from home.

"We've had a long season, nearly 50 games now, and we are going back to Wembley, and the priority is to qualify for the Champions League as quickly as possible, and then focus on any title bid we may have. The City and Chelsea games will be huge, and will define out season.
Everton miss chance to close gap: Everton 1-1 Manchester City

Everton came from behind by missed many chances to close the gap on Manchester City today. Carlos Tevez's early opener was cancelled out by Mattia Destro, but chances were spurned by Destro, Gauld, Mirallas and Jelavic as the Toffees failed to close the three point lead Manchester City have on them.
Toffees comeback not enough: Chelsea 4-3 Everton (FA Cup Semi-Final)

A Mattia Destro Hattrick, was not enough as Chelsea's early dominance booked their place in the FA Cup Final.

Chelsea were 4-1 up after 55 minutes, Adrian, Torres (2) and a Mikel penalty giving the Blues a large lead, and despite Evertons resilient comeback thereafter, with a Destro double and numerous created chances, Chelsea held firm to seal a final spot.
Unfortunate in the semis, excellent run in the league though. Best of luck for the final fixtures :)
